  1. You... Never... Move your game console ever when a disc is playing? o_O. I cannot even count the endless times when someone tripped a cord (power, output or controller... although most controllers are now wireless) and moved the console.

I used to turn my ps1 upside down while it was running all the time. It was the easiest way to stop fmv and audio skipping

  2. The developer Catalyst Game Labs would need permission from Harmony Gold as well because HG has merchandise rights on Macross which include video games. Its very likely that the Warhammer and other unforeseen mechs will be removed from Mech Warrior. In the previous thread Seto mentioned that Catalyst Game Labs has posted an update right on there website catalystgamelabs.com stating that the unforeseen mechs will not be published in the new Battle Tech novels, but nothing has been stated about the actual video game as of yet.

actually the new mechwarrior isn't being handled by catalyst game labs at all. the company handling it is smith & tinker, a company founded by one of the founders of fasa Jordan Weissman. the two companies have nothing to do with each other. catalyst has liscensed the rights from the owners of the tabletop Topps, while smith and tinker liscenses the right from the owner of the videogame rights microsoft and the two operate independent of one another. as far as the new mechwarrior goes there is a good chance that weissman knew the specifics of the HG v. fasa court case and wouldn't have allowed anything to be done that would have gotten them in a situation similar to the one catalyst placed themselves in.

  3. They don't control those designs, unless we are considering their use in Battletech as merchandising.

you mean announcing the use of these designs to sell a product doesn't count as merchandising. isn't that the definition of merchandising?

  4. Can we blame HG again?

We reviewed documents, talked to a great many people, and spent time with some lawyers. We felt we had a solid position.

Sadly, some of the information we acted upon turned out to be inaccurate. Twelve of the ‘Unseen’ images previously used within the BattleTech universe were involved in a court case in the 1990s: Archer, Longbow, Rifleman, Warhammer, Wasp, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, Crusader, Marauder, Stinger LAM, Wasp LAM and Phoenix Hawk LAM. This we knew. But at the end of that court case, as part of a confidential settlement, it was agreed that the sole and exclusive world-wide right to these images (outside of Japan) would rest with another US company.

i don't think HG is solely to blame. i had assumed that they had licensed the rights to use these images from HG. Apparently the good people at Catalyst were unaware that there is some US company that holds the sole rights to macross outside of japan and decided that they could sell a product using these images.

  5. damage from dfa is 3 times 1/10 attacker weight so max damage is 30(3 * 10 for a hundred tonner). damage is divided into 5 point groups so crushing the head out right would usually require 3 five point groupings to strike the head(max head armor 9pts + 3pts internal structure). even 2 hits going to the head would only cause a roll on the critical hit table. it's not really likely that you would ever crush the head.

  6. Excuse me for going ever so slightly off topic, but the search function isn't helping me on this one. Is Bandai going to be releasing 1/48 scale VF-25's? I thought there was some news on it, but can't find much info. I am not a big toy buyer, but I MUST get an Ozma VF-25 with armor pack. Just want to make sure I get the biggest and baddest available.

you might be thinking of the 1/48 model

  7. Am I tripping balls or are there no GBP hands included here? That was one of the coolest things about the 1/48 GBP.

you may be. if you look really hard at the parts breakdown pic the hands are in between the leg pieces and crotch pieces.

  8. Never mind, dude, there's indeed a way to damage internal structure because of a fall: just roll a double 2 onto the damage location chart and it will do a critical hit which will go right through the armor and damage the endoskeleton only

rolling a two when determining hit locations only indicates that you should roll to determine if internal components took a critical hit as if the mech had taken internal damage to the location(center/side torso unless the floating critical rule is in use) the damage is still applied to the armor.

  9. babelfish translation of ve-1 page on yamato's website seems to indicate that the attachments for the stand will be included. with the vf-22 not coming with a stand i'm inclined to believe that no new valkyries will be sold with a stand included.
