  1. Despite the Zentradi/Meltrandi being clones, they exhibit a lot of size differential between characters. (Breetai is same or bigger than VF-1J, Exodol is tiny). Meltran's have been shown to be tall and short, cute, and hot... (never ugly). Queadluun's are probably custom fit to it's pilot like clothes.
  2. Isn't Vajra the lightning/diamond thing that buddisht philosphy says you should try to be? unstoppable and unbreakable (can cut anything but cannot itself be cut)?
  3. Randomly, I've seen American 25th Ani figures in Calgary Wal-Mart. Some stores just imported straight from the U.S. instead of Hasbro Canada but Hasbro Canada confirms they are not allowed to do that anymore. All I was able to get was a U.S. Crimson Guard v1 and a Armored Cobra Commander (cards were bent though). How much was Another Dimension charging for them BTW? They are $8 at Wal-Mart.
  4. Did they say the Vajra had the same reactive armor as the Valkyries. If somebody made of the same stuff as you was pulling on your leg and you were pulling back, he wouldn't neccessarily be able to rip your leg off. Afterall, they don't make the VF-25 out of the same stuff as Yamato toys. You aren't going to break tab B so easily.
  5. Maybe it should be translated Macross 1/4 ????? Like Ranma 1/2 ?????
  6. Yes, I've heard rumors of this too, I heard from the grapevine that the website you are looking for is something called Macross World. You might have to google that one, I have no idea what the address is. I believe they have a forum section there too. I think there's a section called Movies and TV Series. If I recall correctly, there's some obscure poster named "Gram" or "Grey Ham" who is scanning those mangas.
  7. Wow, that's some attention to detail Mark. I never noticed that the Megaroad and Macross ships had different symbols, you're right that Frontier and Galaxy both have the clamshell ship logo on their markers on the star map. As humans probably share their R&D data even though they are separated by so much distance (thusly the shared Valkyrie designs) Earth and Eden probably both developed the new Macross type clamshell ships but perhaps as Eden is the more frontier planet, they didn't have the research for the bio-plant yet when the Galaxy launched as it might have been designed on Earth and not released until the 25th fleet (Frontier). Thusly Galaxy launched much earlier with the chemical plant. I would probably say that Frontier is more the ship with undeveloped land and urban sprawl as it's based on San Franciso (thankfully, it's not as designed after Alberta's urban sprawl haha, that'd be totally depressing) and Galaxy might be a more metropolitan urban density type model like Tokyo or something with some artificial parks and artifical lakes (Arbour Lake). I think that we'll see the Galaxy still around, despite being heavily damaged. In the manga, the VF-17 pilots are still defending it and saying that they can't get that close to Galaxy and need to push the Vajra away when SMS folds in. Hey...why is SMS doing everything? Where is the military? The contractor should only have a dozen or more units. Where is the vast Macross military that should be with the Frontier? Why is SMS the main force going to rescue Galaxy? Jeremy
  8. Just noticed that Sheryl might not actually be reacting to the phone but using it as a distraction to strip the charm off Alto's neck.
  9. How old is the Galaxy ship? It's only 12 lightyears away? I thought it was heading toward the center of the Galaxy (isn't that where Megaroad went?). The Frontier must not be very far out then!!! Why would the Galaxy be an older chemical plant design then? By the numbering scheme, it seems that the Macross 7 fleet (37th colonial fleet) is even more advanced than Frontier (25th colonial fleet)...if Frontier has a bio-plant, then Galaxy must be a really really really old Megaroad type ship. From what it sounds like, Galaxy is an older very industrial, metal, dystopian future kind of ship. Sort of like the SDF-1/Megaroad with only concrete cities and some fake grass inside. No sky, only a metal ceiling, etc.
  10. You aren't really spoiling anything, that's the great way about how this manga is designed, it's designed to keep the major spoilers in the TV show and it only gives you hints of how things might unfold (pun intended). IE: you don't see the Macross quarter fold out, a lot of the juicier relationship bits are saved for the anime, etc. A lot of the action or sequences are blurs or small panels that don't really show things that they want to keep for revealing in the show.
  11. Don't the PC have enough mistakes to clean up before making those mistakes to clean up those mistakes? It's getting ridiculous. They make the Zentradi to police space and fight their wars, in their wars, they accidentally make the Protodevlin, who make the Supervision Army who fight the Zentradi, who all end up destroying the PC...now the Vajra are some kind of anti-body to cleanse the universe of any PC creations that have experienced culture?
  12. I am convinced that this is going to be my favorite anime since 1989... I can't describe my utter joy and elation. And I am the pickiest anime watcher ever...I've disliked almost 90% of the anime made post 1997 (when the switch to mostly CG from hand drawn/painted was done). This series is simply a fan-love fest in every aspect. Everything you could want is in it.
  13. After an epiphany I've come to the conclusion that explaining deculture is as simply as looking at the english word: "WICKED!!!!!!!" In which the older generations and in times of antiquity viewed to be a sign of unholy evil or something corrupt...and which has taken on a new meaning amongst the younger generation as something awesome and good. Older generations of Zentradi in their thousands of years viewed culture as something corrupt with unholy power against them...thusly the cry of "deculture!!!" when faced with the horror of it and their physical and social destruction. The new denizens of the Macross world including whole society of humans and 'cultured' zentrans living together has taken it to be something possessing "awesome cultural value" whether it is DECULTURE [wicked] chinese cuisine from Nyan Nyan or a DECULTURE [wicked] music concert by Sheryl. In episode 5, we learn that the full name of Nyan Nyan is SUPERDIMENSIONAL CHINESE RESTAURANT NYAN NYAN. My friends, that is f-ing DECULTCHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
  14. By "Japanese thing" I meant by how excellent and professional and commercialized it all is without the stigma there seems to be in much of the world.
  15. From time to time, most character and mechanical designers in anime, from almost every genre, have drawn ecchi/fanservice type things. Shoji Kawamori has plenty of Valkyrie girls that keep losing their chestplates...It's just one of those Japanese things, like wonderful goods of any kind wrapped in slick cellophane and presented so professionally...and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.
  16. VF-25 Freyja (in the whole norse mythology thing like Valkyrie).
  17. Check out these Canadian cards   That's what they are, they are going to change them soon to a generic one soon.
  18. Haha!!! That's why I'm confused. Is the food at Nyan Nyan terrifyingly stupid? When I watched DYRL way back when, I always thought Breetai was simply crying out: "THE CULTURE!!!!!!" in a way similar to "OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!" as a cry of terrified shock. But it turns out not to be "the culture" but "deculture"...so what the heck is deculture supposed to mean? It's everywhere in Macross...
  19. When I watched the series, I vividly recall Basara flying into the heart of a battle and going: "listen to my song!" and then the other pilots and the flight controller were going nuts: "who is that? get him out of there!" and chaos ensued. Then it was edited in such a way that during the course of the battle, some of the pilots did die in big explosions. I merely put two and two together and decided he was wrecklessly endangering the actual military pilots who were only doing their duty. There are a lot of issues involved. Friendly pilots get confused at the strange color scheme that looks more like an enemy than an allied Valkyrie. They have to worry about friendly fire. Their natural instinct is to clear the civilian out of the battle. He gets in the way of their maneuvers and formations. He tries to stop people from fighting (mostly by singing but also being in the middle of the battlefield to draw fire), he potentially could block friendly ships or prevent them from defending themselves. He has no business doing such a thing. If he wants to sing, go fly a few thousand kilometers above or below the main area of battle and broadcast his song (space is 3D afterall, radio transmissions move at the speed of light afterall). There's no reason to be right inside the middle of it other than poor writing and dramatic effect. It doesn't matter if "they get used" to seeing him out there. It's wreckless endangerment and he should have been thrown in the brig for the duration of the journey. If the first few times he manages to get a few of his own pilots killed who were either distracted or trying to defend or avoid him, that's enough to say he should be court-martialed or tried (since he's a civillian) and put in the Macross penal colony or a put before a firing squad. It's tantamount to you (as a soldier) being in a raging firefight in a middle eastern city with an enemy in your sights who is about to shoot your buddy when suddenly someone in red leather with yellow lightning bolts on his costume runs into the middle with an electric guitar and backpack amp and starts singing. It blocks your shot, your buddy gets killed, and then you get distracted and get shot yourself.
  20. The game is the Macross DYRL game for Playstation?
  21. Somebody remind me, what did Aberfoyle Spring Water have to do with this all again?
  22. No filecards, it's a flimsy piece of folded paper packaged behind the figure IIRC.
  23. I was finding U.S. stock 25th Anniversary GI JOE in Calgary Wal-Marts but they were usually all scavanged by the time I got there. All I managed to get was U.S. Crimson Guard.
