See, my expectations are were already lowered...
See, that's why I didn't give him (Bay) a dime!
At some point it'll be on TV and then I'll watch it, and probably pat myself on the back for spending the money on watching Maleficent again...
Until then, I'll forget it even existed except for the odd moments when I see something Transformers related.
Yay me!
Hail me! -
I think it's still doing okay. I still have a problem with the Captain leaving the ship at the drop of a hat though. Somehow he considers himself expendable and his XO, who in private and not so private has stated his doubt about the 'mission,' will for some reason continue said mission if the captain is killed on one of his jaunts...
And...
SPOILAGE
... why are they still tied to the pier with a 'friendly' inbound..? All they had was a sexy English accent on the radio and the call sign of a known British ship. For being the last US Navy ship in the dying world, they can sometimes act all fat and happy...
-
He still can't talk?!?!?
He talked at the end of the first movie! The damned All Spark fixed him! Aaarggh!
Must be just for the gimmick...
-
Well that was good, just not what I meant..

I mean a live action Transformers movie the way it was supposed to be...

-
When will they make the G1 Transformers movie..?

-
SPOILAGE!!
Pretty much most of what I was having trouble with too. Plus, the Captain leaving the ship in an extended time of crisis? Much less putting his own life on the line in order to restart the ship..? What was he doing in the engine room anyway..? He has a crew to oversee these things while he commands all from the Big Chair.
As for them choosing a destroyer and not a carrier, I can see that as our carriers are pretty much followed wherever they go. If they want secrecy to safeguard the hunt for the vaccine the best thing is a small operation that can hide within an extended weapons test mission. Plus, the Doctor stated that their mission - at first - had low priority. They wouldn't be tossing a carrier task group around the globe on what - at the time - was a simple scare.
Of course, after the Government discovers how bad the situation really is it is then far too late. If eighty percent of the population is already infected and dying then more than likely most of the military is within that eighty percent, especially onsidering all the travel they do anyway. The best thing they could do would be to find as many Navy ships as possible - before they founder - and stockpile as much hardware as possible at a hidden location. They're going to run out of missiles and bullets and shells real quick, especially if any warlord with a ship or plane is going to try to fight them for the cure.
And is it just me - or does anyone else feel a mutiny coming on..?

If it had a different director, I might go to see it in the theatre. But I have no confidence that Bay has progressed passed the happy platue that he has reached in his previouse films, Pearl Harbor, Transformers 1 and 2 and 3... All aspire to too much grandoise machismo to cover up plot lines and scripts that are pretty much crap... And I've stopped hoping that it will get any better with the next sorry attempt to keep his ego boosted.
But hey, maybe this will be better than before. Perhaps in a week or two I might go to see it in the theatre if I hear that it is better than the schlock that has come before.
Or I'll just go see Maleficent again...
Damn, Jolie is hot with horns...

Watched it as well. Thought it was pretty good. There were some things that had me shaking my head a little, but hey it's TV...

I'll keep watching until the B.S Factor gets too much to brush aside.

Any builds planned yet..?
I just got mine too, but it will be sitting on the To Do Shelf for a while yet.
Just FYI, here's what I hope to be putting onto the dome...

-
You guys need to stop taking him seriously.
Inigo Montoya..?
Someone killed his father. Someone will prepare to die. I'd take that serious all the time!

I'm still trying to figure out why some people think A.I.: Artificial Intelligence is a good movie. My main gripe with that movie is that it ended over 30 minutes ago
when David and Teddy arrive at the bottom of the ocean to see the Blue Fairy and wish for David to become a real boy.
Instead, we get dragged
over 2,000 years later when mankind has become extinct, and David still wants his mommy.
Because of this movie, I stopped watching Spielberg's movies for about seven years. Then I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and that further pissed me off. I didn't watch another Spielberg movie until The Adventures of Tintin.
What gets me about that, is all the robots had to do was to take genetic material from reborn humans - they didn't even have to wake them up - and they could recreate the human race in a matter of days...

All afodementioned ST movies have classic qualities protecting them from "worst movie" status, even ST:Operafion Data's Suicide aka "Nemesis."
Real ferrible movies would be more akin to just about anything made by syfy. Hrere are three of my choices:
-Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
-E.Y.E.S of Mars
-Some movie I can't remember the name of that was so low budget that it used stock footage of BSG for all its effects shots.
honorable mention also goes to Ice Pirates and Batle Beyond the Stars for being way too easy targets.
Hey, Sky Captain was pretty good!
And the other one was featured on MSTK. It was Season 8, ep 820 - Space Mutiny

How would you rate it against 2012's "Snow White and the Huntsman"?
Although I did like Snow White and the Huntsman I think Maleficent does a lot better.
And a lot of that would have to be because of Angelina Jolie. Kristen Stewart is good, but she doesn't have that presence.
I also feel there is a lot more emotional fulfiment from Maleficent, especially in their endings. Snow White just seemed to peter
out after the climactic battle, of which Maleficent just does better there also. And rather than just a fight between good and evil,
it was more a fight of being good or evil. Maleficent is a story of redemption that just has more comlexity.
Plus I just enjoyed it more,
It actually seems to get better with each time I see it, which is unusual for a movie.
Put it this way, since Snow White and the Hunstman came out in 2012 I've watched it twice.
Since Maleficent came out on Friday, I've watched it three times... In one week...

She is greatly suited to the role! I watched it again today and I liked it even better than the first time! I think disney is using sublminial messages again...

I went to an early show so there weren't a lot of people, but there were several young girls present, and I thought it was great when one of them cheered near the end.
Those who've seen it could probably imagine when it was called for.
Great performance from Jolie and a great story, awesome cinematography and a great soundtrack... I can't wait for this to come out on Blu-Ray!
-
That's why I don't listen to reviews. Most often they don't like what I like. I'm going to see it again.

-
I thought it was pretty good. Not great, unfortuneately, but real good. A little too short time-wise with some themes drawn too long and others a little too short. Still, I'll buy it on Blue-ray and watch it again.

A couple of Garmllas ships. I wanted to take a quick break from kitbashing my Battlestar Pegasus, and these proved to be a coupl eof quick and easy little builds. Kudos to Bandai, for these just fell together and they're modular construction hides almost all the seams! Sweet.

and a peak at the Titan class Battlestar Pegasus...
It's mocked together.

Real nice job! It looks great.

I'll be catching this one on Home DVD...

For anyone who has the 1/1000 scale ships, can you give a measurement of their hull lengths?
I want to know how big (or small) these are. I did order the 1/1000 Yamato with hopes of 'upsizing' it
to as close to 1/700 scale as I can. Like on here - http://www.geocities.jp/dourakuoyadi/newpage1000yamato.htm
I want it to fit in as close as possible to my older Bandai 1/700 ships, EDF Nike (at 18 inches long)

and EDF Interceptor

Thanks Chyll2,
That's looking really nice.

Even the gravely Batman 'voice?' After one or two viewings, that just got annoying.
