It worked quite well; as a matter of fact, I have it wearing the fast packs form my Hikaru VF-1J. I just did the same thing. Drilling the holes in the fastpacks was a bit tricky but not difficult. I made a crude template of the holes from a fastpack ready backpack using tracing paper and a pencil. To make the holes, I used a drill, exacto knife, and a square file. I took it slow and did a lot of test fittings. One thing to be careful of is to make sure you are working straight in from the side and not at the angle of the side of the fastpack. The left leg took the leg armor just fine but for some reason, the holes are smaller on the right leg. I used a round file and an exacto knife to enlarge them. So has anyone actually successfully drilled holes into the metal legs? I did notice that the round indentations on the side of the legs are misaligned. The ones on the back of the legs seems okay on the left leg but slightly misaligned on the right leg, as someone already pointed out. Thanks for the tips on the backpack. MacrossJoe Posted July 14, 2004 Author Share Posted July 14, 2004 Well, I finally decided to do the mod and I'm happy to say that I now have a super vf-1a Max. (wearing the armor from my super vf-1j) My cuts are rough but the fast pack fits snugly and doesn't fall off or anything like that.
