DYRL UN 05A: VF-1S Strike Valkyrie:

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/DYRLun05AVF1Sstrike.php

Another one of those "I'll only do the stats block and extra report. Oh, that paragraph looks interesting. That one, too (x many). Meh, already about 2/3 done, might as well finish it" sheets.

Anyhow, sheet is basically unchanged from the original release. I was surprised at how informative the sheet was, especially when it came to detailing the dual beam gun.

Heroine Gallery Sheet; Kuran Kuran x Macross Quarter / Ranka Lee x VF-1S:

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRheroine/HeroineGalleryMF.php#KuranKuranxMacrossQuarter

As the text on these sheets is... limited, I've reedited the first sheet, and slapped this page onto that one.

Since I must decide if I'm so crazy to buy chronicle all over again, I'll bump my question for those of you who already own the new edition:

are there many previous b&w images being given colour in the new publication? could some gentle soul give some examples from issue 2 & 3? Thanks a lot!

That's already kinda been answered in earlier posts in this thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=32805&p=1018336

Not many images have been changed (I'd guesstimate a rate of 1 to 3 per issue), and of those, they're images that were later colourized when their corresponding Mechanic sheet (or whatever) was created.

The only reason I mentioned it re: #3 is that they changed the VE-1 Valkyrie to the RVF-25 in the Tech: VF sheet where it talks about EW VFs. THAT one stood out, as it changed the implication of the blurb from "one-off VE-1" to "includes all RVF type VFs".

Episode M 02A & B: SDFM Eps. 2 "Count Down":

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/M02ABeps2.php

I found parts of this quite interesting - especially the behind the scenes stuff!

I'm also going to be combining both episode sheets into one php. Otherwise that HD folder is going to get scary, right quick!

Character: MF Cit 02A: Sheryl Nome:

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/Fcit02ASherylNome.php

Gubaba, thanks for the permission to use your translation.

I've noted all the minor changes in the php. The one that has been sneaking under the radar is: the page number was changed from 03A to 02A.

Timeline 03A: Mayan Shrine Maiden (partial):

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/Timeline03A.php

Changes:

- Page Number: 03 to 03A

- Carrier Asuka: B&W to colourized image

@9A:

Oh! Exciting. I was worried that they would just be reprints of the Extra Sheets. Instead, they're getting the deluxe treatment as Mechanic pages.

Nuts! It's a reprint of the front half of Extra Sheet #8 in Mechanic sheet guise. Text looks unchanged, too. >.<

Tochiro those images are beautiful, thanks!! Keep 'em coming.

Woo-hoo I got the first pin set yesterday! The Frontier Skull Squad pin is kinda meh(but mostly because I have the pewter one form the pin set they sold during Wings of Goodbye to compare it to) But the UN Spacy and NUNS logos are sweet.

It's the same set you everybody gets for buying the first 15 issues.

Just like the post cards from the last series, you cut the little corner off the back cover, stick it to a post card and send it in.

But Tochiro and I subscribed on Deagostini's website and so they just sent them to us early.

The only special thing you get for subscribing on their website are the clear folders, which I haven't gotten yet.

They will probably just send those along with the one of the later shipments of the magazine (which they send 2 at a time).

Technology 01A Variable Fighter: the Anti-"Giant" Multipurpose Air/Space Craft:

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/01aVariableFighter.php

What I first thought was as simple "edit, mark changes and code in php" job turned into a marathon of revisions, and new translations. Dare I say that I bit off more than I could chew when I attempted it the first time around?

Now with 50% re-translated content! 75%+ revised content! I can't *really* say there's any new information, but it should be a lot easier to comprehend. ;)

There are a surprising number of changes on the sheet. Aside from a 1 word change on the front, all 5 of the sample images for the different types of Variable Craft are changed from B&W to colour. Of those, a whopping 3 have been changed to different models. On the one hand, it's a minor change, on the other, it casts the corresponding description in new light.

I was tempted to say totally different, but as 2 of those are only different variants... Azrael, you should be happy, as the number of VF-1 (variants) has dropped on the sheet.

Speaking of that, remember how the first dozen or so MC issues had a VF-1 related mechanic sheet? We're 3 issues in, and have only had a whopping one (1) VF-1 themed sheet. Is this a sign that there will be less focus on the VF-1 this time around?

Anyhow, off to do the 2nd MF Eps sheet(s).

History 7 01A: Fire Bomber (partial)

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/701AFireBomber.php

Continuing the "extra reports" project. This time, we also get the headlines, and the mini-bios of the 4 Fire Bomber members. Whack-a-mole. Of all things Mylene, of all things.

Number 04 reaction summary:

YF-21 FAST Pack equipped Battloid painting = nice!

The big relief of this issue is that the Macross Plus episode sheets is consistent with the other episode sheets: 2 sheets for episode 1.

I guess I'll have to answer my own question.

For those interested: the new edition has the Stampede battroid in full colour (previous ed. had it in b&w).

Episode sheets!

Macross Plus "Episode 1" (gotta love that episode title ;) ):

partial - http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/Plus01ABeps1.php

Macross 7 Eps. 2 "Spiritia Level":

partial - http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/702ABeps2.php

Both of them have a number of gems of info in them. I'm quite enjoying these sheets, especially as they cast the series of Macross in new lights.

Mechanic: Other 09A: VF-X-7 Ghost Valkyrie / VF-X-11 / VA-X-3 / V-BR-2 / Stampede Valkyrie:

http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/Other09Astampedvalkyrie.php

I could've sworn that I'd already translated this sheet... so it was with great surprise that I hadn't. About halfway through it, I had that funny feeling like I had... Weird.

Anyhow, some things that are good to know, but aside from the colourized Stampede Valkyrie and change from an Extra Sheet to a Mechanic Sheet, it's exactly the same. The lame thing about both versions is that it doesn7t include the battroid form of the VA-X-3.

Anyhow, what's most interesting (aside from the implied connections with the Tornado pack), is the significance of the sheet number change: #8 to #9. Some of the extra sheets had character art, too. So, I figure we're in for an additional couple of pages of "other" VFs, or expanded coverage.

So we have more editions this time around than last time, right? Think they'll ever fill in the missing portions for the YF-29? Or will they just leave it barebones? And I'm guessing they're not going to put an entire spreadsheet worth of statistics for the YF-30 in Macross 30's game booklet, so if they don't put information in the extra Chronicle issues where the heck are we supposed to get them from?

Glossary 02A: Your Sound - We're Friends Now

Partial: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRglossary/Glossary02a.php

Changes:

- published versions: only the page number: from 02 to 02A.

- translation: were previously it was just the headlines, this time I did the entries that interested me. Of those, the most interesting was for the Hollywood Amusement ship. Why couldn't that important information have been included in the mechanic sheet?

Oh, I found it odd that the non-Brera Sterne VF-27 of Antares squadron are indicated as being brown in colour - then I took a closer look at the picture that accompanied the entry... couldn't the writer have referenced another source to get the colour?

I was only planning to do the extra reports on this one, but some of the headlines intrigued me... and long story short, this one turned out to be a LOT more interesting than I anticipated.

Technology 01B: Variable Fighter

Lots of gems in this one. It's even gone and clarified a long-held supposition by the PBP RPGers of days yore.

Addendum to the preceding post:

Was rushing out the door to work when I posted it... anyhow, that page had the most (text) changes I've come across so far (the Mechanic B sheets becoming centerfolds with a new Tenjin-san painting and recycled A sheet stats content don't count, nor do the changes to the VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie's armaments section - as that was already in the errata page!)

All text changes are indicated in the translation.

As no one has posted the contents for #5 yet... : http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRseriesguide/MCRseriesguide.php#5

As always, the TOC for both the original and revised editions of MC: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCindex.php

Edit: the Worldguide 16A Varohta Forces also has a bunch of graphics changes (above and beyond the major change from 05A to 16A!):

Front: colour (red) VF-14 Vampire

Reverse: All but one of the ships and variable craft are now in colour. Why was the Battroid Giant Transport Mothership left B&W?!!?

Other than the back covers.....has any of the content changed from the original 10 issue Hiroshima release?

Sketchley: Would you mind indicating if the cover of the issue you are posting on is a new cover or not?.....Would be helpful to those who may have decided to just collect the issues with the new covers....thanks! I believe only 8 issues had new covers from the Hiroshima edition, based on what has been released, looks like they will not be introducing any new cover art until after issue 10....

Thanks!

? I don't follow your request. If I understand it correctly, you're asking about the differences between the Revised edition Hiroshima edition and the nationwide edition. As I never got the Hiroshima edition, I'm unable to answer your question.
