My vote goes to the New GodPhoenix from Gatchaman II. Not exactly mecha in the purest sense of the term, it is still one of the ugliest pieces of hardware ever seen, especially when compared to its iconic predecessor from the original Gatchaman series. The anime is excellent. As far as ugly robots from shows I actually watch, it's the AJAX space helicopter from Southern Cross. That's like the only cool mecha in Southern Cross. I had forgotten how ugly the zakurello was lol.... you win. But as a general statement, aesthetics can also be a function of when the original design was created. Devastator from the Transformers Movie... yeah... but... m...hmm.... It's really hard to actually settle on an ugly mecha. Some people find Turn-A-Gundam ugly... Forgot about the Logan, a verrrrryyyy poorly designed piece of garbage and hideous in BOTH modes, quite an achievement. It made the hovertank look good by comparison.
