Ahh...good old fashioned "one pic PANIC!!!" :p

Actually, it's TWO pics, if you care to count, ;)

Of course, bendy lasers or no, I still love the overall design. Maybe Bandai will surprise us with swappable lasers, like some of their Gundam toys. Or may be not... :p

i think the one who displayed the 25G w/ the bendy head laser did it on purpose esp. for MW members!

Another look at the proto Armor Pack, courtesy of Amazon Japan:

cool pics... thanks! B))

For the person who asked about Overdrive taking orders from the extra website exlcusives, their latest news item says:

Do you guys know what other sites are offering the Tamashii Web exclusive Super Parts for sale, aside from Overdrive? Any in the US?

Image anime is charging $2 more than the shipped price from overdrive

I just do not know if I the only disagree with the design that bandai has been applied to this line of Macross especially in the vf 25s and specifically with the head with that laser cannons and no neck and with armor is worst

unfortunately still looks much better the model kit and although the latter seemed to them some disservice if we see something with the armor looks pretty much better than that provided dx

I agree that the short neck of 25S ticks me off. But I am looking forward to a fix for the neck; it's not just an empty hope, because on the official site they said they are looking into the problem along with the head cannons.

BTW, that photo is a custom made of the Armor parts, not a sample from the model kit if I read correctly.

you mean those pics we saw are not the real, official, 1/72 vf-25s armor pack from bandai?

they are just custom made by someone?

if thats the case, i'm very glad... it really doesnt look very good/accurate

cos so far the 1/72 vf-25 model kit has done the best job in terms of anime accuracy

At the risk of being the bearer of bad news, models will nearly always be much more accurate than toys. Bandai has already shown us that they care much more about their toys being things you can play with so you should be expecting lots of compromises with the GBP. So far I think its worked though, the DX is a hot seller and even with that many people handling these toys frequently all we really hear about is paint chipping and a few people who had broken screws. While the screws are lame I'd say that's not really a design problem, just a bum deal on crappy screws that got tightened too much. I just hope the GBP does a really good job of staying together and holding tight to the toy, I'd much rather it do that and not look PERFECT than look PERFECT and blow off in the wind or crack during transformation.

Yeap, the desc on the left said that the Armor parts are made by some modeller.

In case someone gets confused; the photo on the left is a custom-made armor part for the 1/72 kit, and the uncolor parts on the right is the prototype for the DX.

The DX armor looks pretty accurate to me already. (Of course, I expect the model kit to be more so.)

I see your points; but I don't think the 1/72 kit is fragile... except for decal chipping.

A couple more metal parts for the 1/72 model (the shoulders in particular) I would actually say it's sturdy.

the sturdiness of your model kit really depends on how well you yourself built it :p

i really do play alot with my model kit and they are all still fine,

but no doubt you do need to really have a good idea of where the sturdy points and the fragile points of the model are.

without super parts, i'd say the model is a pretty good toy.

things change when you put on super parts on your model kit.

although i have felt i have built my model reasonably well,

but it still cannot achieve gerwalk mode with the super parts put on,

the wing parts just fold down due to the weight.

robot mode also needs support to be displayed to stand.

transformation becomes a hassle and its better to treat it as a display piece.

and hell it looks awesome with super parts.

so thats why i now have alto in both super (for display) and non-super (for playing) versions :)

Picture085large.jpg

so yeah i'd say the model kit is better off as a plain valk.

i am eagerly waiting for a review on the DX luca/mikhail with super parts,

to see if its really worth clunking my money for them

i am guessing that the DX is designed to be more suited for super parts/armor pack,

than just as a plain valk.

we'll see...

Three words:

styrene vs. ABS

Hmm... In fact I don't know enough about 2 out of the 3 words to make a better judgement. Sorry for being ignorant. B))

But whatever material the model kit is made of, it is not breaking easily with normal handling.

No argument there. Everything is fine for the model kit until you put on the super pack. The wings get floppy and it can't stand well.

Let's see how the super DX goes though; as I wonder if the heavier weight of the bigger backpack would behave the same...

As a side note, super packs are not meant to be used within the atmosphere, so I suppose we cannot blame that the VFs can't stand well on mother Earth.

The Michael VF-25G just came out in Hong Kong a few hours ago. The box is about twice as thick as the Alto version. It came complete with fast packs and a standard stand. Damn, I just love the good old styrofoam packaging. Just wish Bandai had used it to package everything rather than just the valkyrie. Happy to report that there is no bent head laser. However, the cover of the rear landing gear seems quite floppy right out of the box. Don't know if the same problem exists in the Alto or Ozma versions, as I haven't opened them yet.

I don't have time to play with the fast packs yet, and still have to learn how to transform the VF-25. I am sure more and better pics will come soon as other MWers get theirs. Enjoy!

SWEET! Any pix of the sniper rifle mounted in fighter mode? i.e. What's the situation with forward landing gears? Obstructed or not?

It actually includes the sniper rifle AND the standard gunpod... a nice bonus! :)

Thanks for the good news on the lasers. And boy does she look good! Can't wait for my preorder to arrive!! And yeah, what's the official news on the landing gears with the sniper rifle attached? Is there enough ground clearance?

So it's the same size as an unarmored Yamato Valkyrie? Excellent!! (yes I still hate on Yamato for their big empty boxes.) Can't wait for more pics and then it's to deciding if I want to wait until I go to HK in Oct to get Mikhail/Lucas or try to hunt them down now.
