Bandai debuts its perfect transformation 1/72 scale plamodel at the Shizuoka Hobby Show .
The kit is shown with the VF-1S Strike, the VF-1A Battroid, another VF-1S in fighter mode and what looks like another VF-1A in GERWALK. This is Bandai’s lastest version of the VF-1 since the 1/100 transformable toy. While the detail is impressive, there’s some huge shortcomings overall aesthetically. But with the lack of Macross products in the market, will this lone representation of the 30 year old design prevail in the market?

Bandai posted the new updated CAD designs for their upcoming 1/72VF-1 Valkykrie PlaModel.
On the article, the developer states how far the design has come since the last reveal and that they are still working on thickening the arms for battroid mode and strengthening the ankles for a more secure stance. Not only are they working on the articulation features, but he is hoping to have a rapid prototype with the transformation gimmick in place for the next media event.

Not to be outdone or overshadowed, images of the Bandai VF-171 Armor Packs are also surfacing on the internet. It’s ridiculous how much sexier these birds look when they get covered up. It’s like a reverse strip tease.

Thanks again to IXTL for posting these in the forums. This has to be my number 2 favorite Macross Mecha after the VF-1 and this scheme is the one that I love for the 171. Great job Bandai. Back in Sept 14, it was hinted that there were going to be big announcements from Bandai. I’m glad it wasn’t just the 1/72 VF-1. I’m kinda blown away Bandai! Hope to see more next year. Forget all that Gundam crap! (JK, Gundam fans!) Continue reading “DX Chogokin VF-171 Cannon Fodder”
For the folks that missed out on the first runs of the VF-27 here an added bonus for you. A Super version of the Brera mech. Now where’s the recolor?

So when you ask yourself what kind of bug crawled up Bandai’s ass that they would announce all these toys for next year… I think you got your answer right here. And I must say, very impressive bug indeed Bandai. I mean it’s not only an enemy mech, but it’s an army builder mech. I guess it would depend on the price tag but I would love to see these just ripping apart the Frontier SMS mech in our member’s display cases. No matter how off scale they are. It looks like the reveal that we were waiting for from Bandai is a plamodel kit of the VF-1 Valkyrie in 1/72 scale. Kind of a lackluster announcement if you ask me , as it adds nothing new to anyone’s Macross collection. From the CAD drawing on the poster it looks like this will be in fighter mode, unless it’s a transforming kit. UDPATE: Someone in the forums just stated that it is transformable.
Sorry about the lack of toy and models updates… aside from the VF-4G, The 19F and P from Yamato and the find it or suck it Bandai exclusives, there’s hasn’t been much on the toy front. Hasegawa did announce a reissue of their Macross Plus 1/72 Thunderbolt model kits, this time with Fastpacks. So if you missed it the first time, you get a bonus.
Bandai has been hinting on an another Macross 30th Anniversary announcement at the next Hobby show. If it’s a model then it’s most likely at the All Japan Mokei Show at Mukahari, Chiba on October 13 and 14. If it’s a toy then maybe the announcement will be at the show at their Tamashi Nations Collectors Department on Oct 26-28. At that same show will be an exclusive recolor of the Figuarts Zero “Shine of The Valkyrie” Sheryl, also known as the Shining Blue Sheryl. It will be available for 4500円.
As some of you may already know, the new Universal Bunny Sheryl AKA “Black Rabbit” figure from Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa was made available for preorder yesterday, July 2, 2012. The figure stands at approx. 17cm tall. The figure is scheduled for release later this October.
