N-Y thread - help, complain, rejoice....meh

We are talking waaaaay too much about this shop on threads.  Love em, hate em, or maybe you just like to troll.... but let's talk about Nippon Yasan here.

Personally, they've done good by me.  I'll keep using them (especially now that I know some of the ins and outs).

Been using N-Y for about 4 years and had around 140 items shipped from them (4 items shipped this past month), and didn't have any major issues so far. Had a few slow shipment issue in the past (I usually submit a follow-up ticket when it's 4 week late) but those were resolved relatively quickly. I'm used to N-Y's slow shipping (there's a limit of course) so unless you're that type of person, then I think you should avoid N-Y as it will just give you headaches. Personally, I know the risk of ordering with them that there's high chance that they might screw the order, so I always have plans on how to recover in case the 'nuke' option is unavoidable. Always do Pay later if possible for maximum PP protection, and if Pay Later is not available, make sure that my CC, or bank will cover me for that period.

Just a story from another forum this week, the poster's friend apparently ordered $7000 worth of items from N-Y January this year and seems to have been paid upfront. Some of the items from that order seems to have been released a month or two already, and those were not shipped yet so the friend seems to jump the gun (contacted the bank) so obviously, N-Y ban the account. Now that friend now has a problem recovering the amount since it seems a debit card was used so have to go through with the bank process (which is usually slow). There's not much info provide with regards to the said order, but as some members has posted, if that person indeed have one big order ($7000), then it's possible that the reason why they are not shipped yet is because as per N-Y's terms they'll ship the order once all of the items in that order is released/available. Or it's also possible that N-Y is figuring out how to ship that big order. In any case, there are still missing details with that story, but the thing is, when dealing with N-Y (or any other shop),  make sure to have some backup exit plan in case things go awry.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with them at all.  They've rocked every order so far - even if slow-ish at times.  If people are from the States/West, they have a certain expectation of what customer service means.  However, NY is operating in and from a different country (Japan) and most of their support is from other places (i.e. France) which further complicates cross-cultural communication.  It's like going to Mexico, France, Italy, etc. and expecting someone to speak English.  That's just rude.  I'm not saying I agree with all of NYs ethics/practices, but I'm an accomplice since I knowingly order from them, so no point in complaining.  Just gotta know what you're getting into.

I don't use a debit card for online purchases. It's really unsafe these days with all the card frauds lurking around.

It's always a credit card and paypal. This way I'll have protection from both paypal and the bank.

the N-Y thread from another figure site is quite active right now (for the past few weeks), due to delayed/slow shipping/delivery issue. This mostly involves buyers from Europe, who uses a logistics/shipping company only available there (trans-logistics). Apparently, there was some custom issues encountered by the logistic company early January and it seems that the packages has just started to move mid-January. N-Y being N-Y didn't explain much with regards to the delay thus making many buyers with orders already released quite anxious. 

Items actually moved and got delivered but it can be assumed that there a significant back up of packages due to shipping company delay thus not all items that are expected got delivered to their recipients. So it can be assumed that N-Y has it hands full right now as there could be a flood of tickets  not to mentioned those who don't have the patience could be doing PP disputes or chargebacks further increasing the load (some posters speculating bankruptcy doesn't help also).

Anyway, if you're buying an in-stock item from N-Y right now, I think it would be better to just order from another due to slow processing right now. And if you have an order release this month or maybe the next month expect slow processing / shipping due to the said issue.

To summarize many of the packages for European customers were stuck or still stuck with N-Y's logistics partner there for almost 3 months and seems to be still not resolved. Thus customers there resorted to PP claims, etc. This issue seems to also affect other non-European orders (domino effect?) further worsening the issue. Though as per latest updates, it seems that N-Y is currently in damage control (though really late at that) and even directly called some of the affected customers and as per their replies, the issue should be resolved by April.

Wow...crazy.  Thanks for sharing.  I've never had worries about NY but their practices might be catching up to them.  I have a bit invested in those damn SSP parts so hopefully they're able to execute on those in a "timely" (and by timely, I mean timely for them - not the rest of the world) fashion.  I guess as long as they arrive by August when Kakizaki is released, I'll be all good. haha.

Every now and then I think I should write NY and ask... then I see people say they're asking here and getting no where so I just sigh and try to forget about it.

It's frustrating.  I had an interesting thing happen where I went to PayPal on my 2nd order of SSPs.  It was barely in the PayPal 180 window so I was awarded the refund.  Two months later, NY finally caught up to the dispute and marked my order page as refunded for that order.  However, long story short, I still have 4 SSPs reflecting on order with them and surprisingly I haven't been banned yet.

I don't think there's a method to their madness.  You may want to try anyway @jenius

I'm coming up on 3 days since I sent a ticket Monday evening and have yet to receive a response.  Wonder if there just real busy, or will be soon with all those inbound VF-0's

I sent them an ticket on Monday asking for my SSP and they actually shipped it two days later. You might as well try.

They responded to me 4 days later and confirmed I could use surface mail. I said yes please and then never heard back lol

I still haven't had a response asking to upgrade my shipping and my SSP are still in prep in process. Live chat is nice but they just say to open a ticket.

I stand corrected. I got my order numbers mixed up. The 0D is what shipped not my SSPs. So they ignored my request. Grrrrrrr.

They are quite interesting for sure.  I've intentionally avoided them for Roy and Supers.  I'm wondering when or if I'll be banned.  And still waiting for their back and forth reply about the 4 SSPs showing on order.

I guess I haven't been screwed by them as much as some.  I only really buy web shop exclusives from them, and aside from the VF-31A (wasn't thrilled that order numbers way past mine were getting theirs shipped before me) and SSP (I blame this more on covid then them) debacles, I haven't really had any issues.  

My ticket to switch shipping for the SSP's turned around pretty quick, but there's been no movement on them actually shipping them out, so we'll see how that goes.

But yeah, they're definitely shady as hell.

You’ll be good. They will deliver. The problem is their customer service. For example, if you placed an order with EMS but live somewhere it’s suspended, you’re basically stuck. They won’t respond or run things in circles. That’s what’s happening to most of us.

Still waiting to hear back on my ticket sent 11 days ago. Just sent another one. I'm hoping to get this one item resolved (shipped) so I can be done with NY.  I've pretty much decided I won't be ordering from them anymore and didn't even bothered checking them during the recent Roy rush. Fortunately this is my only pending order with them and the 4th for the same item. The other 3 were spread out through other vendors that have already delivered so if I don't get a response to this new ticket I'm just going to dispute with my CC.

Big shout out to @jenius and @rdrunner. I followed the formula given to you after months of back and forth and many times no response. Within 5 min I got a reply and action taken moving my SSP to ferry.

I sent tickets for 5 separate orders using the secret subject code :lol: 

All of the orders where switched to surface mail and I was issued store credit for the difference (550 JY).

Nothing has actually shipped and none of my orders show “preparation in progress”, hmmmmm :mellow:

Here's the NY response I got this week when asking about when this might ship. I ordered 5 SSP. They let me downgrade shipping to Ferry a few weeks ago since EMS is a no go. I thought maybe that would get it rolling.

"Dear Customer,

After talked to the delivery center I have a bad news. Delivery center said we will receive our stock little by little.

Unfortunately due to this fact, they decided to ship first orders by UPS (faster shipping method ) , come after orders with only 1 products from fastest to slowest sending method, and afters other orders with quantity 2 and 3 ....

For this moment i cannot tell you when your order will be ship. Probably during this month, but when exactly, I do not know yet.
Please don't hesitate to send another message if you need anything else.

I also asked in a separate ticket if they would cancel my order for store credit if they don't have stock for this, but they haven't responded to that one yet.

That's some bullshit but I guess not too surprising.  I'm glad I ordered my six SSP across three separate orders even thought the shipping will be a little more.

Sadly, I anticipated a lot of this and happened to catch SSPs being sold 3rd party on AJ with global ship in Dec and then again in April. I bought the same quantity for the same NY cost or cheaper.

 Now when I finally get them, I’ll have to sell them all but whatever. They’ve never had an ideal system (as proven above - it’s just how they do business) but with COVID it’s made things next to impossible to shop from them.

NY emailed me and pretty much as others have said they are holding stuff hostage unless you upgrade to UPS at this point. 

So if you are tired of waiting pay the ransom for UPS and they will ship. If not they said honestly they wont ship anytime soon and the more you ordered the further back you are in the line for boat.
