Chronocidal Posted February 24, 2023 Share Posted February 24, 2023 Given the constraints of transformation with the pylons attached, I would think they're considered mostly expendable. Real aircraft don't tend to jettison the pylons at this point, and I don't know if they ever did, since they're fairly specialized hardware, and they don't contribute greatly to the weight of the plane, unlike the weapons mounted on them. Emergency jettison buttons are a prominent feature in most fighter cockpits, but I don't think that applies to the pylons themselves.
