Choosing between Isamu or Percival YF-29 DX

Geez. How about both?!:D

They’re both beautiful!

Ok, ok. If you’re friend isn’t a huge Isamu fan (like I am) , the Perceval is a sleeker scheme, IMO. That would be the one.

I believe they’re fundamentally the same mold and gimmicks . Check out any moon.com for a good review and comparison ( I always do if I’m looking at buying something Macross, that’s been around for a while).

I don’t know if one is harder to find or more expensive than the other as I bought both of mine years ago. But that might be a determining factor for your friend.

Cheers

I will let @Saburo's pics do the talking which is which. :spiteful:

Edit: Do note that Isamu's YF-29 doesn't come with the Super Packs which is shown in this picture. That is sold separately.

Normally I would pick the Perceval. However, my copy has the dumb banana head lasers which are bent out of shape and I can't straighten them no matter what I do (e.g. blowdryer, hot water, etc). So that detracts a lot from my enjoyment of the unit.

If you can manage to get one that has the lasers all straight and nice, definitely the Perceval. But if you are risk averse, then get the Isamu.

I have one in Percival colors. I was fairly apathetic to which version of the YF-29 I bought, I just knew I wanted the least-expensive one I could find. I have no regrets about choosing Percival's colors. My rationale: I have enough Macross toys in Isamu's colors (Arcadia YF-19, Bandai VF-19 Advance, Bandai YF-19, Hasegawa's YF-19, etc), and I wanted something more unique-looking.
