Cannon Fodder VF-1A (SDFM): colour advice

Are you looking for the best color straight out of the bottle? Or a mixture?

Hasegawa and Wave both use Mr. Color for their color recommendations mixes

Hasegawa old = 40% C43 Wood Brown + 60% C1 White

Hasegawa new = 50% C43 Wood Brown +50% C51 Flesh

Wave = 80% C39 Dark Yellow + 20% C22 Dark Earth

As for the feet, Hasegawa always gives C28 Steel

Wave gives 80% C22 Dark Earth + 20% C42 Mahogany

I'm not sure what you mean by old vs. new. Which kits list the ratios?

Thanks. Ideally, I’m after out of the bottle. Model company recommendations are good, but even “I’ve used this...”

unfortunately nobody makes Macross colours like they do for Gundam...

Paint-mixing is what most of us have resorted to...

Advice: take a box-top and visually see if there are paint matches that are close enough to live with at your local shop.

Actually, the Hasegawa Battroid kit lists this mixture for the brown VF-1A feet:

50% mahogany (42) + 10% flat white (62) + 40% burnt iron (61)

Their ratios are a bit of a pain, so I’m going to mix up a large bottle of each color so I can use it for several kits. The old brown VF-1A scheme is my favorite (in case you couldn’t tell from my avatar, so I plan to paint a few of them, along with a brown J.
