The Cap did such a great job on this one. It's a such a beauty.

If only he would breath life into one more design... Cap, please make a Q-rau! We want Q!

But yeah, put me down for one. Hopefully, you'll include the pilot and decals.

The kits will ship with decals for sure. A pilot will probably be available as an optional extra for those that want one. And if we go down the pre order path the pilot will likely be the bonus.

Don't forget that Zentreadi infantry and officer figures are available from Mike Salzo, so drop him a pm if you are interested.

Well as soon as Wave ships the VF-4 I'm planning on purchasing one of your New-issue battle-pods a month, so why not add a N-Ger to the backend of the list?

also thanks for the heads-up about Zentradi Figures, even MORE to spend! :D:ph34r:

That looks awesome! I’ll have to see if I can put together the funds for one before they sell out.

How tall is the completed model? Thanks!

g'day Grunt, the kit measures 245mm (or 9.6 inches in old money) with the gun folded down as in the above photo. I din't have any comparison pictures yet but her are the hips and legs standing on my bench and surrounded by clutter.

The Moscato Hobby Modelling Contest has motivated me to pull my Norbert-Gerard out of storage and put it together:

...and articulate it, of course, because I'm wont to make what I want to have...

...namely, more Macross toys! ^_^

I usually prefer a clean, high-end toy sort of finish on my models, but this one calls for a little weathering, I think.

Based on its appearance near the end of the series, I can imagine this powered armor has seen more combat than maintenance. 😅

did you purchase and already build the Moscato Q-Rau?

Well, I've already purchased one, of course... 😅

...but I've decided to tackle the N-Ger first because it'll complement the Kamjin, Gnerl, and Zentraedi pilot figures I've already built, and I expect it'll attract more attention for the contest because of its novelty.  I've seen examples of completed Quincy Rowe kits before, but I've never seen a finished Norbert-Gerard...

😁Can't wait to see it Ted ! Love your work ! And yes, a little weathering makes much sense for one of these!

This is about as heavily-weathered as I'm willing to go:

I don't imagine any other areas will show nearly as much impact damage.

I would imagine the hands, forearms, and elbow area would also show significant signs of wear. It wouldn't be as pronounced as on the feet but significant nonetheless.

Those feet look great!

Yeah, I thought so, too. ^_^

The painting and weathering went fairly well (with only a few catastrophic mishaps along the way), but the color scheme itself was significantly more work than I'd anticipated.  Just pinning down what color the N-Ger is supposed to be proved somewhat challenging:

1784476219_episode27.jpg.9c063f8721fa60aa22465a5eadc04940.jpg

Its first appearance, in a single shot from episode 27, looks nothing like its subsequent appearances; in fact, it's so far off-model that I'm not even sure it's meant to be the same mecha.

It's second appearance is much more accurate to the line art, but the color scheme doesn't look like anything else in the Zentraedi arsenal...

1504771112_soldiercoloring.jpeg.7f7908f9e770f6f51fcfd99798418be8.jpeg

This scheme is the most commonly-seen, although there are a lot of minor inconsistencies in color from shot-to-shot; it's hard to pin down exactly.

Official merchandising is even more confusing:

636868184_vintagepurpleboxart.jpg.2e6674ad8b3c417a41c440b620c2b616.jpg

This is how most vintage model kits have been painted up, based on the utterly bizarre box art coloring.... <_<

...but this vintage toy, based on Kamujin's custom scheme, seemed to be reliably accurate.

31482753_lowangle.jpg.8f30ea5a28ac818e27c4d0b390c73ef4.jpg

Again, there are numerous little areas that switch from red, to green, to brown (depending on the shot), but I looked to the close-ups for the best reference:

897499879_Quamzinsredhead.jpeg.7559bb9de3c61fd4e6e4ddab4e2cf93d.jpeg

...and made myself this color guide for painting reference.

1599038665_animecolors.jpg.aa91ea163618dc2cb71a480a1d5582ea.jpg

I think I managed to reproduce the color scheme fairly accurately. B))

It was only after I began the weathering and chipping process that I realized, subconsciously, why I'd chosen to paint my N-Ger in Kamujin's colors:

budget_boba.jpg.7a9012f813df8bb36a6fb6800bb047c3.jpg

It matches my Boba Fett armor. :p

I’m not sure why there are so many color changes on those. I used to think of it as each ship had a standard color and then the commanders got customs, but I really don’t know. The q rau had a few variations of color in just their first couple of appearances. The regult and glaug seemed standard in the series then the movie versions of things had other colors that seemed based on rank for the armors

The custom work I'm typically known for isn't immediately visible in photographs.  You've got to pick up the model and play with it to see all the articulation I've added...

1091998734_actionfigure.jpg.bcd2a3d23a0b2b0674074c77317b9c62.jpg

23 points total, including two for the shoulder cannon armature.

I also put at lot of work into detailing the interior, but it's very difficult to photograph effectively.
