Thanks for your diligence in keeping fellow collectors informed Shizuka, but I for one am no longer interested at these current prices.  Way to ruin a good thing Bandai.

I'll wait for 2-seaters now (if they ever decide to do them).

I’m with you on this Claude.

Besides I honestly don’t think Bandai will ever go this far with their DX line. So in the meantime I have this to hold me over.

^ ^ ^ I know this 1D is a custom 1/48. Is this the reason why the cockpit/nose can separate? I've never seen a Yammie 1/48 with detachable cockpit/nose

So Roy can hold it. ^_^

I actually set up this display one week before the 1A max was announced. Premonition?

nice pic.  Notice the line down the middle of the metal feet on the bandai on the left, and the lighter gray plastic feet on the yammie has no vertical line?

You got it.

the connection point collapses back into the rear of the cockpit. So that it doesn’t obstruct the connection between the body and the fuselage.

here an old picture from when it first created around 12 years ago.

In my gallery there are pictures showing all the steps and parts to build this. It’s always been a labor of love and completed lunacy on my end to make this possible.

is that line on the metal feet supposed to look like that?  If it was plastic I'd think it was a seam line, but not sure what that vertical line is on the metal foot?

I believe that feet if cast metal, so that is most likely a seam line.

It's a mold line, as in it's where the two halves of the mold met.

Bandai has gotten the parts on models sprues to have mold lines not on the front/displayed side, but hasn't done that for metal parts.  Their newer Master grade kits have clean parts now.  Is that what we're talking about here?

Yes, the vertical line you see on the feet is a soldering line where they fuse the two halves of the feet. It's also hard to compare plastic mold such as how they produce their Gunpla to how they do it in metal.

Thanks.  I didn't know the that the processes were that different.  Just a comparison, the metal feet on my ostrich hmr don't have the vertical line on the front middle, and it's also a VF-1.  Is it because the hmr feet are small and the dx feet are large and have to be soldered together?

I think it is a plot by bandai not to give us perfect metal feet. It is a foot thing....

and a metal thing...

ha ha it is bit nitpicky.  I just noticed because the yammie has clean lines, and my HMRs that have metal feet have clean molds for the metal feet

Probably it’s because it’s bigger.

Who knows, maybe Bandai will find a way to do it differently in the future and decides to reissue everything again that will ruin our collections, OCD’s, and budget. In the end, like @vlenhoff said, it might be Bandai’s plot.

I've handled this valk in person, and I didn't notice it until that pic next to the yammie.  It's a nitpick. I'd still like to get my hands on a Max, or at this rate, the next valk.

I think if Bandai reissued with the swingbar as one solid piece, that'd ruin the collection, ha.

latest listing from mandarake for DX 1/48 VF-1J, sold for 35,000 yen

Hmm. So I was looking at Tabao and I noticed a few listings with prices as low as 65.00 (yeah, buyer beware). But some sellers have pictures of 10 DX in one shot. Tabao is very tempting but is it really true or worth it?

For as much as I use a Google translator it still all Chinese to me. How does one order on Tabao to validate any prices?

Thanks in advance to all.

Don’t use Taobao for this. I prepaid in full many months ago for the DX Vf-1J and the Taobao store did not get stock for me.

The super cheap entries now could be pre-orders for the VF-1J which hasn’t even had a re-issue announced.

The way Mandarake displays prices is a bit odd though. I check the site pretty often, and when the 1J is actually available for purchase, the price has always been right at 30K. However, after it sells, the listed price jumps up. I think that 35K price was a high watermark at one of their shops, but the typical price is down to 30K when it's their online shop selling it.
