Here's the link for the coupons: https://global.rakuten.com/en/event/coupon/

However they did cancel my pre-order just a few hours ago, claiming it wasn't something they could ship outside of Japan due to it being a reserved, boxed item.

Tenso, my friend.

Adds probably $10 to the total cost.

Thanks, might be handy for something else that is not PO then. The 10% on Rakuten by FromJapan will expire today.

I would SOOO be buying that zentradi uniform for the DX!!

If we can provide some good reference and have sufficient order size, might be possible to find someone the fill the order.

I will search around, but if anyone have good reference art that is suitable please share.

Edit: Nevermind, found this: http://www.gunjap.net/site/?p=5933

Was someone here in the boards that did post of the Yammie version years back?

Here is the original thread way back in 2011.

Here are some pics from toysdaily blog/website of the suit.

Here was the commissioned version of the suit.

Is Bandai going to do this for the DX VF-1a?

Edit: Switched pics around.

I have also found pictures of this and a review of the uniform on anymoon.com (as always, a very reliable source of information).

Will discuss the possibility with people that know how to make these kinds of thing. Will come back with order request to gauge demand if it turns out to be possible.

Hmm... I wonder if this newer Zentran suit (commissioned as well) will possibly fit with the Yammie 1/48 versions of Max's 1a. I can maybe use one for my Low Vis 1A. ;)

I think this will work.

1. Bandai design and develop a toy that we like and decide on the lot size increment (say min 1000 units per lot) that works for them and their supplier.

2. Announce the product.

3. Predict as best as they can about the number of lots for the initial allocation for retailers.

4. Accept order from retailers. With limitation and allocation as per now.

5. Big retailers can then order lots from Bandai within a fixed window (in terms of days, so no big extra delay) if they can be confident about selling them. To protect themselves, the big retailer they can allow buyers to pay and reserve with the risk of losing the deposit if they back out. And the buyer will get a refund of the deposit if the number of orders didn't reach the lots size boundary.

6. PO window closes, Bandai goes ahead and produce the order (maybe with some extra as per what they are doing now).

Step 5 is totally optional and if a retailer takes up the offer, they will be the one that will get the extra money left on the table.

Scaper will not take part because they know everyone we want one will be able to PO one from the big retailer. As long as there is one big retailer that willing to do step 5.

The small retailer who does not have sufficient buyer to order in term of lots can try to negotiate with a big retailer for x units that they think they can sell.

Bandai only needs to allow a few days for 5 to take place.

Is this too complicated? I know nothing about toy manufacturing and distribution, so this is just me play acting as a consultant. ;)

Went ahead and pre-ordered the Max 1A on NY. Want to have at least one of these in my collection, but man, $280 is a lot to stomach

Better than the $400 it’s costing for a VF-1J. I paid $275 for a 1J that had already been displayed by a collector. If they ever do anything beyond the “initial release”/“first release” then I’ll still want one new.

Wow. Is the DX 1J *that* expensive now? Last I checked at Manda they were about 33-35k last month. But still. 35k is double the price some of us paid at PO with the discounts going on at amiami, they were going for 16,480 yen iirc.

Almost all the ones you can find on ebay are $415+ with free shipping.

I also ended up cracking and getting Max's 1A off of NY. At least I have it secured now. Can't wait for it to get here!!

Supporting local shops has the advantage that the shop owner actually holds the product for their loyal customers.  But the high rents are killing their business.

Local shops here act like scalpers, if they get wind that an item is suddenly hard to get, they price a $300(sgd) item to suddenly $500 for no reason, and they give you the ‘ you can’t get it anywhere else reply ‘ even if you are friends with them and have been buying from them for years.

I’m not trying to defend or attack anyone’s behavior but it is odd to me when people say someone else did something for “no reason” when a reason was given right before in the same sentence. Again, do we want a free market where prices are based on supply and demand or not? Can’t have that only when it doesn’t involve a hard to get toy we want.

Yeah, I mean even at 35k you’re talking close to $350 USD with shipping. Nuts how much it’s going for.

Mandarake sold one earlier this week for 32K yen.

I would probably avoid Okini.land.

Doing a WHOIS lookup of this domain name (https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=okini.land), the fact that there is zero contact information there is NOT reassuring....

image.png.fa705c16d675e95883d6edf1c1a70679.png

So I did a quick research on why the contact information is showing Redacted. I guess since the site is European and with the whole GDPR thing now, its not uncommon to see this. I tried other European websites and most of them had redacted information too.  I tried Visiteurope.com for example and it showed info that is redacted. I'm not an expert on these things and I'm really hoping Okini.land comes through for those that ordered the VF-1A.

As for communicating with Bandai, doesn't hurt. Maybe they will listen like they did with MB Eva but in the end, it will be about their own bottom line to make that decision and no matter how we feel about it, Macross doesn't have much financial pull in the retail world compared to a lot of other properties that Bandai produces.

They're hoping to open up the market once the rights come back to BW. Right now they aren't legally allowed to distribute overseas so all you get is scalpers and resales.

I wonder if that's why we're getting more Delta (that's still the plan right?) instead of a new Macross show. I mean, besides the obvious popularity of Walkure. If the plan were to animate Macross the First (not saying it was) then waiting for HG to lose its rights to do that and then having a whole catalog of SDF Macross toys ready in the wings makes a lot of sense.
