.... yeah.... but..... 1/72?

If you want a fixed-pose piece, it's as easy as pushing the scale button. If it needs to articulate and fit in the 1/72 kit properly it'll take a bit longer to check the sizing, re-do the hinges, and check fit.

nope totally static

Any pods you can make that I can use in my 1/72 displays would be cool! I could have a line up of them on the tarmac with crews working on loading different ones on the 4 vf31a models I still have to make.

No problem then, you want me to send you the files, or just put em up on Shapeways?

For what it's worth, one of the missile launchers is specifically this Kotobukiya MSG part: https://hlj.com/product/KBYMW-36

And I'd imagine the missiles in the backpack pod are repurposed fin funnels, either from a HG/MG Sazabi or from Bandai's Builders Parts add-ons: https://hlj.com/product/BAN991400

Personally, I don't dig the look, either. Definitely prefer the one Sanity is working on. Keep up the good work. ;)

shapeways I guess. That would be great!

It's not even midnight on Sunday, that's like 2 hours earlier than I'd planned.

[edit] Made a shop just to make it easier to find everything, there's no markup on any of the parts.

Here you go:

I've got no problems with you taking it to a local printer, only if you start selling it.

Noice! Which is the material that’ll stand up to handling and require the least cleanup and sanding, again?

So, for least cleanup you want either Frosted Ultra Detail or Frosted Extreme Detail. However, both are a bit more brittle than any of the strong+flexible plastics or the Acrylate.

Acrylate is very durable and has decent detail (similar to FUD), but will require more cleanup of the support nubs and also you'll need an 0.5mm drill bit to clean out the holes for the hinge shafts.

Personally I printed mine out of FUD, and the only part I'm worried about breaking is the doors. Note that the doors cannot be printed out of anything but FUD, FED, or Acrylate due to the 0.5mm hole.

Good luck, all those details are beyond what I can model up in CAD.

Working on it: so far so good: the model is almost printable. I am planning to make the external body in WSF and all the internal panels with speakers and intricate detailing in FUD. Still a few details to check though

Looking good, those details definitely call for FUD/FED printing. After getting a test-part, I would not suggest acrylate.
