Sorry but I dont want kawamori anywhere near an anime studio. Stick to making cool transforming bots. He has a knack for messed up sloppy plot lined anime. NO!

I wish him the best in this endeavor. And hope we all benefit from this.

Just want cool mecha, esp the transforming variety; if the story turns out to be lackluster, I won't feel bad for skipping it, but if the inevitable toys turn out well, then that's a good thing.

Juushinki Pandora, a 26 episode anime directed by Shoji Kawamori (of Macross fame), produced by Satelight in colaboration with Xiamen Skyloong Media will be airing on Spring 2018.

"A outcast scientist were living together with his 'sister', until one day, a quantum experiment went wrong, unleashing Dragons and Biomechanical-lifeforms from other dimensions into our world......"

From Google Translate:

On 2031, the day that "Xianglong Crisis" occurred, Leon Lau was in the very center. Next-generation energy equipment "quantum reactor" researched and developed as a substitute for the exhausted environmental resource runaway it exploded with dispersing unknown energy. As a result, the environment of the world suddenly changed. Biological and machinery other than mankind has evolved independently, a unique evolutionary organism that was born "BRAI". Humanity has been chased to the point of extinction for its power.

Seven years after "Xianglong Crisis", Leon was in the wilderness on the edge of the absolute defense city Neo Xianglong. While co-living with Chloe Lau who had "family contract", he was doing his own research to counter B.R.A.I. Chewy Chloe with a slim Leon. Living everyday as if to forget the past, but the threat was pressing steadily.

A main character that doesn't look like a pre-teen.  I think I gotta watch this one.

And the lovely detailed art style with hand drawn characters is very welcome.

...why is "sister" in scare quotes? Typical Japanese creative use of Latin punctuation, or typical Japanese looseness towards the Westermarck effect?

In the trailer he doesn't reffer her as his sister, but she talks about "Family" or something like that.

But the "imoto" feeling is so strong... :D

How is Kawamori going to do another Macross series in 2018? This show is going to keep him busy.  Maybe he'll have less of a hand in it this time?

Well, he cut out of Delta halfway through, so there’s precedent for that...

You have to wonder if when the suits demanded another love triangle he stopped caring.

Probably. But I'm not 100% sure.

Does this explain why Delta turned into a mess halfway thru the series?

This looks promising, but so did delta.

Honestly, I think that Kawamori-san cut out of Delta because the studio wouldn't listen to his ideas. They should have come to a better arrangement, like doing an OVA of his original idea, and then doing Delta, or vice versa.

Regular Forbes readers must squint quizzically every time their business news is interrupted by this weird show called Muh-cross.

Why do they continue to allow this toy engineering genius near an anime film production company. Everything he touches in anime is &^#@ed up.

meh

Hope the anime's good but if not, eh. I'm more curious about the M.O.E.V. toys. I imagine Bandai will likely make the merch for this film.

I'm not too confident that this will be any good. Satelight hasn't done anything remotely top notch in years. Is there a quality screenwriter attached to this project? Will the characters have more that paper thin characterizations? A congruent plot?

I'll check it out, but won't hold my breath.
