I have looked at several pictures (see below), but it gets hard to tell what color the eye is supposed to be. Is it blue or red?

Battlar (aka "Corg") was a recurring character before he was evolved to human form.  As a common Invid soldier, the only way to distinguish him from the others was his eye color.  It was subtle, and if you weren't paying attention, you might've assumed it was a coloring mistake... but it's consistent, and eagle-eyed fans can watch him rise through the ranks in the latter half of the series.

The eye color, therefore, depends on which Invid pilot you wish to depict.  B))

A massive offensive launched from the dark side of the moon manages to inflict devastating losses to the Invid, thanks to the effectiveness of the "Dark Legioss."

With only the most rudimentary understanding of human technology, the Invid Regis simply counterattacks with Garmo painted in the same "midnight blue" paint scheme...

...and the human resistance is swiftly and completely wiped out as a result. 😜

The Garmo is actually a tricky color scheme to pin down...

Not only are the details painted inconsistently, but the base turquoise itself varies slightly from episode to episode.

Just to be thorough, I even consulted the inferior Robotech Blu-rays:

As a result, I think this is the ideal color scheme.

Any objections?

@tekering I totally sympathize with your quandary about the color. In the end, after re-watching the Robotech Remastered DVD's, which look pretty darn good in my opinion color wise on a professionally calibrated 65" plasma back in the day, I closed my eyes and just remembered what 10 year old me thought the color was and after ENDLESS searching ended up mixing a custom color from Rust-O-Leum spray paints decanted and airbrushed on.

There's a couple of spray can colors that are sooo close, but nothing I found was close enough, so I color mixed.

Rust-Oleum 2X Spray Paint (which does decant and airbrush VERY nicely) has Nantucket Blue, Satin Lagoon and Satin Teal which you might find interesting depending on how green or blue you wish to go....

Tamiya TS-10, TS-44 and TS-54 gets really close IMHO now though...But it's metallic.

Since the Star Spangled-Man was thoughtful enough to cast the beam emitters in clear resin, I've decided to mount red LEDs in there.

I kinda prefer this color since it looks a bit more alien, but I think it’s not the color that was originally intended

See, that's precisely why I take the time to acquire the best reference material, do the research, and make my own color guides to work from.  Secondary sources, fan art, and even our own memories are notoriously unreliable. 😒

Appreciate the feedback, gentlemen. :hi:

I would go a little darker than the image you posted above.

Yeah, I've come to the same conclusion.

Now, let's see how closely I can match it... 🤔

Cool find! ☝️

Poorly lit, though. 😐

Properly lit and photographed, it looks like this (about nine minutes into episode 24):

And I think I managed to match the Blu-ray colors pretty close:

I'm very pleased with how this one turned out.  😎

Have you modified the hip conectors to make the Gamo posable?

Nothing so complicated as that...

mountingpin.jpg.0f6e1b0ad00954c75d39599360ccd789.jpg

A brass rod connects the lower half to the upper half.

This is its default position:

mountingpinsolution.jpg.1ec4b87e9dc44d72c5bac7e61985d1b8.jpg

For flight posing, however, it plugs into a completely different hole, at a 40º angle:

The knee articulation does the rest. ☺️

Just out of curiosity, what paints did you use?

I use Tamiya lacquers almost exclusively.  The pale grey is a single coat of AS-5 Light Blue over black surfacer, with a light dusting of AS-20 Insignia White for highlights...

The turquoise is a solid coat of AS-8 Navy Blue, with a thin layer of TS-102 Cobalt Green sprayed over it.
