Robotech and REMIX by Titan Comics

Wow, except for the VF-1 (how ironic), the mechanical artwork actually looks pretty good. And the character artwork is passable, which is a huge improvement over the past issues.

I'm curious to see if Furman's going to resize the Invid mecha, because current figures make them comically small when compared to the VF-1. If he's going to throw them in the Macross Saga, he might as well.

The artwork is a definite step up, but how are there skyscrapers inside the SDF-1?  The itself was enough of a stretch.

Maybe they build the city sideways and no along the legs.... I think.

That's because you did not see what they did for Canada rejects them

THEY FIRED the Grand Cannon on the SDF above the city.

The more I read about this nonsense, the more I'm convinced they have no actual plan for this series.

It really feels like there's some kind of bar bet going on here where they're trying to see how many soap opera twists they can fit into this comic before it gets canned.

So... they're taking this thing in totally new directions, with increasingly less to do with what is commonly known as "Robotech?"

All things considered, that may not be a bad thing...

This reminds me a bit of when Furman took over the US Marvel run of Transformers, and started running the stories towards less of a direction of what was previously Transformers, and more as a springboard for his own original (or heavily modified) human characters. Anyone remember the Neo Knights? Furman was readying them to be their own series for when Transformers inevitably got canceled.

Spoiler for Issue 13 issued November 2018

Spoiler

Spoiler Alert for Issue 13 issued November 2018:

On page 6 Anatole Leonard is referenced.  Lisa’s dad is re-named from Donald Hayes to Nicholas Hayes.  Lisa’s mom is alive in this timeline.  Some fans speculated the canon of Robotech could be kept intact by having this SDF-1 being in a time loop of its own but Lisa’s mom should have died in a car accident when Lisa was very young.

On page 17 a character named Persy Satori is assigned by Evil Roy to replace Ben Dixon.

On page 25 Good Roy is shown as a prisoner of Lazlo Zand inside the SDF-1.

Lol, who's that on the bottom right?  Looks like Conan the barbarian.

The obviousness of the tracing is so evident here, as the overlayed bits (uniforms) look completely out of place and underdetailed in comparison.

Maybe that's next issue's big reveal, they've hired Boris Vallejo.

Lynn Kyle as played by He Man in a wig?

It's really hilarious, every time they put out a few good panels of mecha action, the characters turn into wax dummies.

Far as the story goes.... you know what this reminds me of?  As long as we're messing with stable time loops, I think they've decided to go the Sea Lab 2021 route, where every new iteration becomes further and further deformed.  Maybe they'll send off the entire Robotech universe by having every generation imprisoned in a gym and playing volleyball for eternity, while He Man Hunter and Minmay the Hutt make out under the bleachers.

I'm pretty those panels are from a different issue, like 5 or more months back. The good new mecha panels are a different artist, I think.

So, did they shrink the Invid or can Karl Riber change size now?

Also, given that Max and Myria know each other already her infiltration really can't happen, and that he knows it is her running amok inside the SDF-1 (quoting Rorschach no less) him getting involved with her later gets far more complicated, like he's a traitor complicated.

Who are any of those people?  I'm guessing the one is Rick since he is mentioned.  He Man I have not guess on at all and is the girl supposed to be Minmei?

Minmei sings and has character development.  That's just a defibrillator on legs.

Just when the art becomes decent, Furman snatches defeat from the jaws of victory by writing crap that's worse than a fan fiction. Is Karl Riber going to be the "Agent Smith" to Rick Hunter's "Neo?"

That's just the universal order reasserting itself.

Just as nature abhors a vacuum, Robotech abhors quality in any form.

You’re right.  I forgot that it sucks to be a female character in the Robotech universe in general.  This is just par for the course.

Hey, Robotech made enormous strides in their handling of female characters in the last ten years.

The female characters are actually realistically proportioned this time around... you don't see any of the bad pornstar boob jobs the Waltrips loved to draw on every female character, and you see some variation in body types instead of Tommy Yune's insistence on drawing every woman with an identical pornstar body and in a skintight catsuit.

That's only because they are tracing, badly, photos of models.

On the other hand, at least giving everyone identical bodies keeps the characters consistent from frame to frame.  This comic looks like they keep rotating through an endless supply of stunt doubles, and forgetting to edit them out in post production.

In all fairness, I think this is actually a pretty decent cover.

I feel dirty admitting that.

Seriously, some of the more recent covers are really not bad at all.  They just can't seem to consistently make anything inside the comic look anything like them.

"You idiots!  These aren't them!  You've drawn their stunt doubles!"

I swear, the ideas we come up with poking fun at the comic sound way more fun and interesting than the comic we're actually getting.
