latheboy Posted May 26, 2017 Well after the Lancer 11 was printing well I thought I'd have a crack at something else. I always thought it would be rad to have a VF-1S helmet that I can wear, so a couple (read lots) of hours later ... Bamm... The lasers will rotate together so I can roll them down and go pew pew. First part off the print.
Xigfrid Posted May 26, 2017 That's great! I just hope people won't say this is a GITS cosplay!
latheboy Posted May 26, 2017 Don't know what gits is .. wanna tell Me please. I'm doing this for me, I won't be taking it to any shows, I've never been to a comic convention

latheboy Posted May 28, 2017 Don't know about the figures yet, still on the fence about it.. One laser down, 6 pieces to build and key together. And top rhs on head done ..
MechTech Posted May 28, 2017 It will also look cool sitting on your coffee table or bookshelf (with the lasers forward of course). - MT
latheboy Posted May 28, 2017 The ultimate goal would be to have the lasers move on a servo motor or something, that is well beyond me though..
latheboy Posted May 28, 2017 I don't think it would last long on a coffee table at my house, I've got a 2 year old boy who's into everything and a 3.5 year old who shows the youngest how to get into everything haha .. it'll sit on a shelf
ScrambledValkyrie Posted May 28, 2017 Cool idea, and impressive work so far. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
latheboy Posted May 29, 2017 Stuffed up some printer settings but it came out good enough.
latheboy Posted May 29, 2017 Now the stress is I might not have made it big enough for my head. I reckon another 5mm wider is needed.. I might have to make a strip for down the centre or the kids are going to have a cool toy ..

latheboy Posted May 29, 2017 I have ears, they will work as padding.. won't they? Once I finish all the main parts I'll tape it up and see. is there anyone here good with electronics that you can point me to for help with servos and drivers?
