Thanks for the review.

Sadly, it would seem that this release has the same fitment between parts issues that plagued the VF-1S.  Unless you did not transform it correctly?

The biggest issues for me, besides the short time it took to become a floppy mess, was the initial fit between the legs/intakes and the main body....

As seen in your video...

large.2086370002_vf1jkc.JPG.b98e11b09f19

It is a problem in fighter mode...but a bigger problem in "gerwalk" mode...

Additionally, I see they have done nothing to improve the fit between the cockpit part and the main body either...it was/is a problem with the VF-1S....

How about the ground clearance?  Does the gunpod still drag or did they add some height to the landing gear?

My VF-1S was just as "solid" in the beginning...but soon the lower legs really got loose and wobbly to the point it could not keep a standing pose without major intervention...so I am concerned that will be the same with this "new" VF-1J.

Based on this initial review, it would appear KC tossed all of their "upgrade" budget into remolding the cockpit light gimmick access switch and the extra "DX" thigh mobility.

Personally, I would have preferred they invested into just making everything tighter and making it hold in place better with better connection points, before adding additional articulation...but we shall see.

I also have to say, for some reason, perhaps the retooling of the intake area for the DX-style thigh articulation...the intakes look larger and way more "blocky" than they did in the previous VF-1S release...but perhaps it is just the camera angles you are using.

Anyway, it definitely still looks like it will make for a great "looking" VF-1 display piece....

Nope; actually it stays together fine. Here's a pic I'd taken earlier;

Unfortunately part of reviewing is constantly handling and the like stuff just comes loose just like playing and posing on your desk. The difference though is that you can adjust things back to normal really quick before putting something on a shelf but on video it comes off hella' tacky and makes the product way more unstable than it really is if you're adjusting it every 30 seconds on camera so I refrain from it.

But TL: DR - It does not have that problem.

Bottomline...your "review" basically shows that the only change was copying Bandai's extra articulation....it'll be another floppy mess...thanks for confirming that even though I wasn't holding much hope :good:

I had to page back because your tone came off familiar and you were the one who was hell bent on it being bad due to personal issues with your VF-1J and even attempted to berate me for not having called out those problems when I didn't have them? Brilliant.

Not being funny, but you had an "agenda" from the jump so I don't really understand you wasting the time. Regardless buy what you like and enjoy it when you get it. :good:

Just to make sure I wasn't losing mind I pulled my vf-1s out to look and it doesn't have the gaps either.

Only tips I can really give for anyone maybe having those issues are the nosecone pressure talked about in the 1J video and with the intake gaps I know you have to have the shoulders rotated all the way up the circle to where they're touching or else the arms will stick out too far to the sides and press the legs out of place.

Gave the 1S a shake test?  Seemed to hold up ok?

I guess the positive to this is that I never really get to test my phone's picture and video and man  it isn't too bad at least on close up stuff.

Here's to hoping the missiles don't yank the hard points out anymore!

My 1S didn't even have hardpoints on one wing when it showed up.

Still waiting for them to ship the replacement wing with Misa.

Holy moly. I just took the missiles off of my 1J quick to see and thankfully no.
---------------------------------------------
With that though... between this and not having the gaps thing were there marked changes on batches of the VF-1S? I know mine didn't come from the initial ones shipped out and I'm wondering now if there were changes made?

Changes on the VF-1J? I think the only ones out in the wild right now are preproduction models. It's listed as a July release date now on their website.

I meant VF-1S. I'm all over the place atm.  Referencing the lack of problems on mine with the gaps and hardpoints.

My wing actually came like that, without any of the hardpoints glued in. They didn't fall off (though I understand that's not uncommon).

The other wing is fine, just the one side.

I think another poster had said they pulled out with the missiles so it was just an all-encompassing statement. Regardless there seems to be differences between this one here and the aforementioned issues.

Did anyone else have the gaps? Cone absolutely not pressing in?

Never mind, locking this thread.

We are all overly stressed with what is going on in our personal lives, I'm not enabling any more aggressive discussion with each other here.
