Unpublished Robotech Pages (Antarctic Press)

Recommended Posts

These following 10 pages were originally produced during the time when Antarctic Press briefly had the Robotech License from 1996 to 1998. That was around the time when I just completed working on "Robotech: The Movie" comic adaption for Academy Comics. The Robotech License were transferred from Academy to Antarctic right after the book was published, so I paired up with the same writer who did the adaption to submit some material for them. Since Antarctic seemed to be doing a lot of "in-between" stories filling (unnecessary) gaps between the episodes, we crafted a short story featuring the encounter between Roy Fokker & Milia. We worked on it very quick and turned it in to them, but the work never got used or published nor did I ever get paid for it. It sat around in my art drawer all these years and at this point will probably never get any official use in any way what-so-ever.

I finally decided to make some decent scans and put it online for viewing. So thanks for reading and enjoy!

These are incredible! And totally within the gaps that the original Macross story left out as well. And Hikaru and co returning in that Regult are such a great touch as well! Very nice work.

These are great :) I'd love to see your take on the Southern Cross stuff :D

I have an undying love for a show that doesn't get much love from other people.

Completely understandable. The Bioroid mecha are classic, and then there are all the Southern Cross arming doublets.

One cretic: The main turrets on the SDF-1 are beam-energy-based, not ballistic gun-turrets. Other than that, a very interesting "what-if?" story, sir. I have long ago dissuaded any interest in Robotech but your art certainly does the IP justice. 8-1/2 out of 10 potential Halflings.

Hey nice work! Even though it's robotech, a job is a job. It sucks you didn't get paid, I know what that's like. Thanks for sharing!

That's pretty much how it is in the comic industry.

So who wants to add their own word bubbles?

And please make it a comedy!

You could sell them to a collector and still get paid ;)

If anyone offers a good price, I'm game!

I kinda did do some Southern Cross art when I did the art for "Robotech The Movie" comic adaption for  Academy Comics.

We were just trying to pitch a short story based on what Antarctic Press was doing at the time. Kinda glad they botched the job and lost the license soon after.

Awesome work. I would be interested in reading more of the type of work you did.

Well, here is something I've been working on slowly:

So any issues if I take a crack at inking/colourizing this. I have a week of boredom coming up that I might as well work on something.

No problem, hope to see you do a good job on it!

So did you post it?:unknw:

No. Haven't had time for it. Between my usual MMO distraction and recent 40K releases I haven't had time honestly.

My plan was to just take the pages and my PSvita with me (to work on translating more of Delta Scramble) on a family vacation planned in September. Then I'll have a week of being bored off my arse minus the few projects I bring.

I'm also bringing my dad's old economic books for a study if that gives you an idea of how dull this is going to be.

The things I do for family.
