Megahouse TV Ver. SDF-1

I have the Soul of Chogokin Yamato (2199 version) and it's pretty sweet. But it's a non-transforming ship.

The only transforming ship I have from Bandai is the Macross Quarter, and it sucks.

I shudder to think of Bandai releasing an SDF-1 where you need separate stands to hold up the Daedalus and Prometheus because the arms are floppier than an old man who's lost his bottle of Viagra.

Aww, the DX Macross Quarter ain't that bad! :D

Besides, I would blame the floppiness in the inherent design of the ship. There's really nothing much you can do to keep those arms holding the gunship and carrier locked straight.

Anyway, since Bandai is reviving SDF Macross in its Hi-Metal R Series, I really hope they have plans for a transforming SDF-1 in the future. :)

Transformation possible? Those shoulder and arm joints wouldn't be there for nothing would it or wishful thinking? Looks pretty good for a printed prototype. Images from @Bat1911:

It doesn't look like both forks of the main gun are actually separate so I highly doubt its transformable.. It would be nice of course but no way for that small scale even though the transformation is rather simple.

I originally thought of this as a pass but its sooo teeny and cute that I might just have to get one! I don't have any capital ships so i guess I gotta start somewhere! ^_^

Thanks for the update. Love it so far. Can't wait for the DYRL version if ever.

The sculpt looks GREAT. Although, why would there be any sort of sagging in the arms if it didn't transform? Or why leave that joint on the arm exposed like that ?

I assumed it's still in the prototype stage and on the arm joint there's some tape on it. But would it be nice if it transform even if we need to disassemble some parts and not having a true 'perfect' transformation sequence. I'm good with that. ;)

Or probably they made it like that so that when they decide to release the DYRL version, they will just replace the arms with ARMD arms and make their own hybrid SDF-1 like Hasegawa's. Atleast this one will have that 'curve' thing under the main cannon. ;)

The front forks are tight fitted together but looking closer they look to be two separate pieces, also if you look at the side view pic, the main cannon hinges to the chest piece and the legs are misaligned because the toy sags (which means they're separate pieces also). I understand that some pieces must be cast separately even for a static toy, but those are still very odd things for a non transforming chunk of plastic. Also, judging by the acrylic sign next to it, (that should be at least 10 centimeters long, because 6 centimeters would be tiny and useless), I'd say the SDF-1 is more in the 25/27 centimeters ballpark, which could also explains the good finish and fine detail.

Or maybe I'm just crazy wishful thinking.

The Cosmo Fleet ships length ranges from 16cm to 19cm. So we would be lucky if the SDF-1 is around 20cm. ;)

proportions are way off in the storm attacker mode but this is the first transforming TV (SDFM) SDF-1 since the takatoku/matchbox one right? i wish they'd go ahead and make it big though...l/3000 lol. i do think that if this doesn't get yamat....i mean arcadia off its ass and do one....nothing will. anyway i'm paying attention now and will likey hop on if it isn't horrible.

Honestly, that Storm Attacker mode is utterly terrible looking and disappointing. The only redeeming quality is that the Cruiser looks good and since until now we thought it was only a static form I'll treat it as suck and only display it in Cruiser mode.

Go home SDF-1. You're drunk.

Hahaha! That's why I LOVE this forum. There's NO WAY they're ever ever ever going to please us. ;)
