Maybe rely on masking techniques instead? Am not a customiser so yea I don't know if there is or not a need to break open the toy...

you might want to consider applying lots and lots of decals tho like this guy ...

yums! Always felt the armor pieces shld have warning labels on em, since they do explode!

Arcadia's... from what im reading you even need to drill some holes

I don't think they will go backwards with us drilling the holes. Must be a case of wrong machine translation with using the correct pin. They got it right with the vf-1 kits and there were no QC problem (as I know) for the retail ARMOR parts.

The assembly kit is cheaper by a few thousand yen depending where your looking at for the built version. This is more for the folks who want to customize their armor or like that black color. I guess it's less hassle to have it unassembled to paint then then build then trying to take apart the completed version.

Like most here, I want it, but with the VF-1J M&M coming, 1/3000 SDF-1, SV-51 redesign, and so on, it's really hard to put this in the mix of so many things on the horizon. Maybe some overtime can fit it in, but not anytime soon. By the time I have extra money, Christmas will be here.

probably taken from a 1/72 kit and not a DX.

I checked mine and it looks more like the DX part. The Reactive Armor is really that big. Using a 1/72 part would look really small. Also, the missile pod hatch used on that custom looks closer to the DX than the 1/72 kit version.

Did he used VF-25's Armored Leg's Missile Pods? It kinda looks small for the VF-0.

Have no idea how he got the leg missile pods/packs, but you may be right.
However, the non-renewal armor parts are perhaps on the smaller side?
