Hey guys, I'm relativly new to collection Macross/Robotech/Japense Mecha toys. I have been collecting Transformers for about 3 years now (not vintage don't care much for it) and want to now turn my attention and some of my funds to getting some Macross toys. I'm not looking for models yet (though it is something Iwill be considering later down the road),but mecha toys is where I want to begin with and having a steady flow of those coming in.

Since I am in the States getting any kind of Robotech/Macross products are pretty hard for me to do and unfortunatley I do not have the friend(s) that share my interest.

So what I am asking is is there a few site you guys could turn me to as far as toy release news and what site I can get them from and possibly what podcasts you all listen too as well (BBTS,HLJ,etc...).

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post and in offering up any kind of advice that may help me on my journey.

---Cheers---

Hello and Welcome to Macross World and to Macross collecting!!!

There are several existing threads that will contain the info you seek....

For webshops used to purhcase Macross toys:

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=41210

You can also search for Macross toys and collectibles on Yahoo Japan Auctions and Mandarake...for YJA you will need a proxy service like Buyee or Rinkya....there is a thread that compares the pros and cons of several proxies...just use the "search" tool to locate it....

Here are some ongoing threads were folks list items spotted on YJA and Mandarake....

There are several good review sites for Macross toys, but I usually recommend this one:

http://www.anymoon.com/blog/

Additionally, everything you want to know about the various mecha from Macross can be found here:

I'm not too much into podcasts, but go to the Macross World main page for links to one associated with this site....the main page is a good source for the latest Macross news in general, including new toy announcements...

http://www.macrossworld.com/

However, the best place to get the latest news and discussions regarding released and upcoming Macross toys is the "Macross Toys" forums....

Finally, it is a good idea to run a search first before posting a new topic.....or simply posting your "Macross Toy FAQ" in this thread:

Good Luck!....

...and once again...Welcome to the World of Macross Collecting! :)

BTW...since you are new...you currently have an opportunity to get in on two separate Macross toy scales....the widely accepted standard of 1/60 (offered mostly by Arcadia (fka Yamato) and Bandai) and the often attempted 1/100 scale....currently being re-launched by Bandai's Hi-Metal R line (the name does not imply "high metal content"....but gives homage to the glory days of 80's Bandai Hi-Metal Macross toys)...

Here is the link to the discussion on the 1/100 Hi Metal R line.....the pre-order for the first release is later tonight...the GBP-1J....

People get into drugs because it's cheaper than MACROSS...

Can't be anymore expensive than a wife and kids. I'm pretty damn sure that Macross will be cheaper than just the woman......Hell, a heavy coke habit would be cheaper than her...LOL.

jvmacross pretty much covered it all. Welcome to Macrossworld, Gojenki, and have fun collecting Macross Toys!

Thank You! I hope to have fun and will!.

LOL!

I've been collecting Macross toys for a long while and out of all the recent releases this new reboot of the Bandai Hi-Metal line has me excited about Macross toys again. I think it is a combination of the toys being from the original SDFM and also potentially being a pretty thorough toy set of all the major Macross mecha in one single scale. That literally has not been offered by any toy company in the history of Macross toys....ever!

Hopefully, this line doesn't die due to lack of interest.....the sell-out of the pre-orders everywhere is a good sign....but only time will tell.
