TV SDF-1 Macross 1/1600

I don't think the word epic is anywhere near "epic" enough to describe this project. This is the sort of thing that, upon witnessing, either inspires one to improve one's abilities beyond his/her competence/comfort level, or prompts a hobbyist to swear off modeling/scratch building altogether, and gather all hobby tools into a trash bin for ignominious disposal...

  • 1 month later...

it's quite hard adding details on this ship...

at first i was like... there so much room for details

but, i don't want to over-clog the surfaces, so figuring out which detail and how detailed those details

should be, isnt easy...

made some more details...

decided to borrow some of the design details from DYRL SDF-1 since TV version has

virtually no details there  , other than some lines....

ill give it my personal touch so that it isnt completely identical :p

cut out large holes and backed them with a piece of styrene sheet..

and ofcause my good friend Milliput

This is amazing! I bought this thing, and was planning to just build it and paint some resin on or in the parts. But yeah... gonna do at least some of what you are doing. No stranger to modding a kit, kitbashed the old amt ENTERPRISE kit into my own design. But I would like to make this able to transform(well, partsform) via magnets, which would also give the shoulders movement. Any suggestions on making the elbows movable?

Check his 1/2700 scale build. The first one one in his sig.
