Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015

the black wash have to be sealed in so that the light wash wont remove the black wash underneath.

I'd like for the black to stain the white in and around the panel lines so the finish isn't uniform.

Who knows, I may have to wipe it all off and start over.

Just applied directly.

Having a lot of trouble with the light wash.

The plastic is so frikkin shiny it just rubs right off.

Have tried a few coats of it now and it's getting a bit frustrating.

Things not going as I'd hoped really.

I think I need an airbrush.

The light wash is very susceptible to bubbles.

Also as I mentioned earlier, the plastic is so shiny.

It just won't take. My dreams of making it lighter may

not be realised.

The wings take the wash quite well but not the fuselage.

Particularly the chest plate.

Think I'll have to start over tomorrow.

Sorry they're upside down

^Well respect to you for taking this on as a project, I would say try not to get too discouraged but I'm not putting in the effort you are.

Hopefully a Member with similar experience can share some feedback that will help.

As someone that's worked on fighter jets, not every part of the air frame gets weathered.

I know that but what I'm after is a more anime accurate shade of blue. That may not be possible without a full respray (with paint not wash) however.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Moosey,

Did you see my thread on weathering my VF-0D?

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35120&page=93#entry1203668

If you look at my signature below, and go to the archived links thread, scroll down to the toys and you can find a few other links to my experience in weathering the VF-0D - I didn't have to re-paint the entire thing, but I did use an airbrush to do the salt weathering techniques to lighten the overall blue.

Good luck.

Thanks WM, you've done a spectacular job there alright. That's pretty much what I want to do alright.

Looks like an airbrush will be required alright.

Speaking of salt weathering, I've experimented a little with that this afternoon...

I'll post some pictures later (don't hold your breath though, it not that great!)

I've decided I'm done (for now).

I will revisit it down the line if and when I can get my hands on an airbrush.

I tried the sea salt earlier on and it worked quite well except when I tried to wipe off the excess, it all came off!! 😣

Anyway, this will have to do for now.

Nice score with the 0D!

So they were able to calculate to the minute when they would return to Earth 12000 years later and plan a welcome light show, but couldn't get the kana lined up right?

12000 years in the future, mathematics will be a fine art.

Japanese will be an extinct language.

*RUBS EYES*

1) is the color changed or is it a camera white balance illusion?

2) Weathered??

3) rounding up....40k! :vava:

Man if its true the color changed and is weathered,...tough call...i already gave up when i saw the price, but then 1) and 2) questions came in....
