Oh man, a horrific surprise was waiting for me from BBTS this morning...

I'm talking about the condition of the Star Wars figures...!

What the hell, BBTS?  :vava:

Did you pay extra for "collector packaging"?  If so, I would take it up with them.  Also, those boxes look more than a bit kicked around, so I wouldn't immediately blame BBTS.

The shipping boxes don't look beat up to the point where they would cause that kind of damage, especially when the other boxes look fine.

Man I wish my big Matchbox SDF-1 hadn't lost an arm/shoulder a few years back. It till looks killer in attack mode! :(

I hear ya!  They're fragile for sure after 30+ years.  This one has stayed pretty white and most of the stickers were intact.  I commissioned someone from Etsy to do Repros just so I could freshen up a few of them.  I wanted to recondition an SDF-1 so it would be minty white along with fresh decals, but the repros on a few of the stickers were just enough off to not do it.  I settled on this one and love it.  Can't say I owned it as a kid but wish I had!

@jenius helped me a ton on some advice with it - a consummate scholar on Macross for sure.

Yeh, it was a sad day, I'd had it ever since X-Mas of '85! Survived in my parents attic in TX for over 20 years! It was in my Macross display cabinet for like 8 years, pulled it out to re-arrange the cabinet one day and the shoulder just literally crumbled off in my hand..I legit almost ugly cried.:(

It was a good Xmas....(from Toys R Us)...Next to the one where I came home to find the original Hasbro Millennium Falcon, this is the one I remember the best!

Wow! You were a lucky kid. Owning toys like that was a pipe dream when I was a kid.

Also, I always thought you were some kind of outer space potato man.

Might be........

As an only child mom spoiled me with toys, much to my dad's dismay.  Dad tried to get me an educational electronics play set, you know the ones that teach you like basic circuit design and stuff one year, I never even touched it. Looking back..prob should have!

I used to have the one on the left.

I wish the 1989 Batwing was fully diecast.

I've always wanted a decent version of either of these.

The diecast BTAS Batwing has a nice weight to it and reminds me of my 1/100 diecast F-117.  It would be nice to get either of these Batwings in 1/100 scale.

Sweet.  I still have my original when I grew up.  It has minor yellowing and a beat up box but I still like it.  I got another one years later in pristine condition.

I never got any of those toys :( But i did get a kick @ss xwing. oh and that horrible broken Grimlock knock off, that immediately broke... granted, it was a pretty good knock off, but it broke on me. It wasn't until several years later when i found out it was a knock off. I wonder if my parents paid full price for that thing.

I love this thread, but my only wish would be for people to reply without quoting.  Just on this page, there are literally (4) copies and (1) original of derex3592's Christmas picture.  :unknw:  By the way, nice to meet another Texan!  I think my parents had that same couch.

That was bad enough, now take a look back at the people who have quoted someone with (6) pictures.  haha  If they were all removed, the thread count would probably be cut in half and make this thread much easier to browse.  :hi:  I suppose it would be easy to edit your posts so the duplicate pictures aren't included.  (wink wink)

From this point (although it's a bit too late), let's all do our best to reply without including the same pictures we just finished looking at, let alone four times.  haha  :good:

Thanks!

You just did.

Star Wars,Tron, Action Force, MOTU, Thundercats, Other World, and Fisher Price X-Ray people. :)

Also V but we never had the toys here. :(

After being on a minor Macross hiatus, I have been sufficiently reminded of how pricey this hobby can be! If you have some catching up to do....yikes!

Just these past 2 weeks I have ordered up:

1) 2 new VF-0S PF (I had one non-PF from a couple of years back)

2)1 Reactive armor set for the 0S

3)1 PF Max 1J

4)1 Non-PF Max 1J

5)1 Hi-Metal R 1D

6)Still have my eyes set on a PF Roy 1S (because 3 non-PF Roys is still not enough)

That is even before the shopping spree I went on at NY with the DX stuff. I am too ashamed of my behavior on that front to volunteer any more details.  :D

The whole point of the quote function is to quote and have context for a discussion. It is always helpful to have the content being talked about right there, otherwise people have to scroll back through pages to find out what people are talking about. The best solution would be if quoted content was just truncated with an accordion type reveal so it is there for those who want it but also not taking up space for those who don't.

Back OT, All I got recently are a couple Marvel Legends for good deals, Night Thrasher and Living Laser for a bit over $10 each. Some Hot Wheels (finally got the red Porsche 917).  Oh, and my VF-1D HMR arrived.

Cool.  I couldn’t think of anything to get at Amazon since all of the figures I want are preorders from other places and already locked in.  I still haven’t used the Hasbro Pulse coupon either.

Not at all Macross, but I have been looking for Aphrodite A for ever. As soon as I bought her I found a 1973 Jumbo Machinder Mazinga at a great price with original parts. I really like this set!

That's self evident, quoting the message is fine when it serves a purpose.  Seeing the same picture (5) times in-a-row was my point, and it happens quite a bit.  Any reasonable person will agree there's no need for that.  When the context is literally right above what you're typing, that's the definition of redundancy. :bigshok:  In almost (20) years here, I don't recall feeling the need to quote a picture that was literally just shown.    If you or anyone else wants to discuss it further please feel free to send me a private message.  Otherwise we'll be off topic and Shawn prefers there's no arguments.  :hi:

As an example, very nice John Wick Mustang sh9000!  (Now someone can see the context since the post and pictures are on the same page, and they didn't need to scroll through the exact same pictures again...and again.)  :p

To get us back on topic, here are some of my recent toy purchases:

Sorry for the late comment, but that pic kicks ass! Very cool man. Part of the collecting I do now is because I wasn’t able to get much as a kid. My key prize was a G1 Jetfire (that my cousin wound up breaking). I had some killer He-Man too. But missed out on gems like this. So now I collect with...

No argument needed, just a discussion. All I have to say about it is quotes don’t always occur right after the quoted post. It could and often be pages after...context is needed. Bottom line is the functionality of the forum should be fixed, not the way we use it. But I agree if we feel like editing the quote when it is right under the quotes, it helps but we shouldn’t have to, especially if the quotes were accordioned automatically.

Anyways, my latest:
