Is that it? I thought Yuuma gave up Gunpla battle because he got whupped by that cloaked Gundam (which I guess belonged to the kid from Osaka that we just met?) Personally, I felt like his snooty attitude about modelling versus battling was just a front because he was scared.

Of course, I don't even know if the Ioris' store is still open. If Sei and Rinko are in Europe for tournaments, and Takeshi is still globe-trotting to fight Gunpla-crime, they might have shut the place down. I hope the series gives us an update on that.

I just think he's a teenager who's been told too many times he's good at what he does, and couldn't take it when somebody was like "you're not that good" and stood behind that statement.

Of course, Sei is in Europe with China, but where did we get Rinko into that situation? I was under the impression she was still in Japan.

I think I'm mixing myself up. I joked that in the Paris cutscene, Rinko might be travelling with Sei and China because they are (barely) underage... but she wasn't actually there, was she? Now I'm making head-canon without even realizing it!

Sorry if this is a repeat from a few pages back, but the age of majority (the age at which one is legally considered an adult) in Japan is 20. While it's 18 in many countries (including France), there's no "worldwide" law. International Law would be a much easier topic if, well, there were really such a thing as international law ;-)

Bottom line, though - there's no reason to believe Rinko is there, that was just me having a moment. Sorry!

In Japan, you graduate at 18, you get your driving license at 18, you're considered capable of sexual consent at 18, and you can be married at 18 (in some prefectures). Are Americans only considered adults at 21, because that's the drinking age across most of the country? Are Danes considered adults at 14 because that's their drinking age? There's no one age of license, so I stick to the lowest common denominator.

In any case, I looked and Sei and China are confirmed to be 13 year old 7th graders in BF, so they'd have to be 19 in Six Years Later (which sounds like the name of a trashy fanfiction). Not a notable distinction in Japanese law, but it does rule out the idea that they were still kids at that point. Certainly no reason mama would have tagged along. Besides, can you imagine?

Research first, please.

Age of consent: as young as 13 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Asia#Japan

Drivers licence: 16 to 21, depending on class http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driving_license_in_Japan#Categories

Graduation: 15 (Senior High School is not compulsory, though the vast majority continue on to it) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Japan

Marriage: 20 (with parental consent: 18 for males, 16 for females) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriageable_age#Asia

Voting: 20 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_age#J

Drinking: 20 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age#Asia

Fun fact: most people in Japan don't rush to get a driver's licence first chance they get. In fact, a lot of people don't have them, as most people don't even need cars!

Is it ever really expressly stated what the sole reason is they are doing in Paris together? The trip could double as a honeymoon. :p

Well they say China's in Paris because she's pursuing her painting, and Sei's traveling around Europe because he's a multiple gunpla battle world champ, and there's the heavy implication that they're dating, so why not? But China addresses her letter "China Kousaka" so we can presume they're not married.

Does it really matter that Japan is less arbitrary in its arbitrary adulthood age, or is Sketchley always this pedantic?

If you wanted to generalize form the the start, why did you try to be specific in the first place?

I have nothing against the generalizations you've made. It's just really bad form to try to fob off generalizations as facts, and then be dismissive when those facts are corrected. (Does it even need to be mentioned that those facts support the point you're trying to make?)

Would you 2 like to get a room, while the rest of us continue on with the topic thread? Thank you. Come again.

As for the rest of you, we're only on episode 4. We still have a ways to go so let it play out.

Here's a look at Team SRSC's Gunpla. If you've built the HGUC Gundam Ez-8, then you know your way around it.

Forgive me for being dense (and not reading Japanese), but I haven't been able to figure this kit out. Does it include one "base" Ez8 and option parts to build any of the three variants used by the team? It seems like that would leave a ton of unused parts, particularly if you bought three kits to make the whole team.

Also, where does the Ez-ARMS kit fit in? It seems like that kit includes parts that are already included in the Ez-SR kit to begin with.

Yup, just one base Ez-8. If the tooling's the same, just buy two HGUC Ez-8 kits and some gray paint. Problem solved.

The Ez-ARMS, like the other HG Build Custom kits, are sold separately to either add more weapons to the Ez-SR or customize any Gunpla.

Thanks! It does look to me like the runners are the same as the HGUC Ez-8; I see that they have the leg pieces with the beam saber "pockets," even though none of the SRSC team uses these, for example.

I guess what puzzles me with the Ez-ARMS kit is that they seem to show the Ez-SR support version on the box, but the EZ-SR kit already includes these parts (I think), so there's no point buying the Ez-ARMS to supplement an SRSC team build (unless you wanted to go crazy with, say, double shoulder cannons - but see above regarding all the extra parts you'd already have if you bought three Ez-SR kits).

Going crazy is exactly the point of Build Fighters. The series has proven that weaponizing any Gunpla is limited to only your imagination.

Also, some of the HG Build Custom kits are necessary. For example:

  • The Amazing Booster has the fuselage that's not included in the Zaku Amazing kit.
  • The Kämpfer Amazing comes with only two Amazing Weapon Binders, and it used four of them in a couple of episodes.
  • The Star Build Strike Gundam has the Plavsky Wings, while the stand-alone Universe Booster kit has the Plavsky Power Gate parts.

So it's really up to you if you want to buy the Ez-ARMS kit, as it comes with universal attachments for any Gunpla.

You can definitely tell Ral isn't Hirose anymore, and that's kind of sad. I hope he gets better.

I don't really dig the Winning Gundam in general, though, and the biggest thing that has me hyped about this episode is that next episode we'll see the EzSR.

Oh and

that was totally Yuuki Tatsuya at the end wasn't it?
