Yamato v2. 1/60 VF-1A Cavaliers

Recommended Posts

Unlike other VF's, I have never seen anyone post their dislike of the original VF-1 design........the above pics explain why....

VF-1 Rules! ^_^

Ahem...I never really dig the VF-1s and don't own any. That said if I'm to buy one I'd get this one.

Now let me get my coat and run...

No many new stickers added(SVF-26 on the chest, 207 marking on the knee cover, warning sign on landing gear door, etc.), but I think this is the final version from me:

Lucky enough to score these birds within the same week!!

EDIT: Replace "SVF" marking with "207" on the back pack.

Damn man, what do you use for lighting/camera/etc? These are amazing photographs.

Also, you're down with the little no step stickers on the wings?

The light source is my desk lamp plus 2 small florescent lamp(similar to those USB lamp), the arm of the desk lamp is very adjustable so I can get whatever position I wanted

Camera I used are one of these: Canon S95, Nikon D90, D300S or iPhone 4.

I don't put "No Step" sign because I want to keep it "Consistent" with my other VF-1, I skipped them from the very first VF-1 v2 I've got, lol :p

Pics are starting to make me regret not picking this Valk up. =P The stickers look good, Swoosh, did you trim them?

Yes, I did, and have to pay extra attention to this bird, the base color is almost black, any excess will be very obvious.

Honestly they look better for it ;)

I wish I had never come into the thread. Now that swoosh has put up his pics I have to buy one of these.

I didn't even know they had a name and just thought originally they were just ordinary valks that were put into a dark shadow which make them look black.

an old post discussing this lol:

Now that I know it is part of the canon it makes me want this even more.

If yamato were smart they would do another one but with the 1J head which I think is the more popular variant.

Does anyone remember the super limited 1/48 "credit card valk"?

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=14581&view=findpost&p=287640

it reminds me of that.

Great pics! I remember when some people were bashing this valk early on in the thread for being too dark, for being too light, for being a milking repaint, *baby cries*, etc. Well they can all eat their words - this valk looks fantastic. I might have to go pick up a second one and have them escort the low vis VF-1S around. Better grab them quick before they go out of stock (low stock @HLJ). You know this one isn't getting a restock anytime soon if ever.

I know. Still.... hopefully it gets a reissue like the VF-1D did (which I missed BTW HLJ told me my order was too late grrrrr...) at some later point with the option parts if I do miss it, and for those who were too busy saving for other valks.

I still need to get VF-1D and Cavaliers. Than I can at least pretend I am done with buying new VF-1 repaints. lol

If they DO reissue, maybe they will put the un spacy kite symbol on the other wing? (in order to justify releasing it again for those who do not want a tv-accurate "canon" version?)

Some people expressed interest in Fast packs and urban camo GBP to go with it. maybe yamato can milk the fans for more money if they make specially made super valk release of this? (like max and miriya supers with painted FP in red and blue)

Low vis was also unpopular when it came out and then people cared about it later on. People are strange.

I've always thought the DYRL "white with colored trimming" was so boring, so all these variants I see as more cool than the plain white stuff. The only time I care is when a valk is in a greyish scheme like low visibility, or a bright red or blue like the max and miriya releases. (To me even the brownie CF is more appealing than the DYRL scheme)

I think yamato should seriously consider doing the urban camo GBP for this one, and FP.

The "white-with-color" schemes were probably done just like the original USS Enterprise model back in the 1960's. It was easier to see on camera against the black space background, and probably quicker to color than a darker, more elaborate scheme. Who knows, the lighting in the hanger might have been damaged, and the valks were actually Max blue...cool scheme either way.

If it got a reissue with a 1J head I think it would be awesome. Those who already bought the 1A would now have an excuse to buy multiple.

Hope Yamato makes one with the 1J head. I have the VF-X and it also comes with the 1A head and don't have any 1/60 VF-1J . HLJ still has some Cavaliers in stock but it is confirmed that these don't come with option parts even though it says "with option parts" :(

Anyone know what's up with the VF-1A "movie version" with option parts that's showing up on eBay but nowhere else? That's the exact one I've been waiting for.

You might have missed it. I got it from HLJ at the same time the Cavalier came out, but it's out of stock and discontinued now. Perhaps it wasn't produced in very large numbers.

(link's above, got post-sniped )

It's one of the 30th anniversary releases, though seems like it might turn out to be difficult to get now. I decided to preorder one, and just picked it up from FedEx this week, but now HLJ shows them as discontinued (though we know how they love to slap "discontinued" on things that are out of stock :p)

It's just your standard DYRL-style cannon fodder. Same as the previous CF release, but molded in off-white (with matching paint), with DYRL-style head, spare hands and pilot. Comes with the side covers molded in brown, and the external seat mount.
