I finished Nisemonogatari and it was so good.  I saw the infamous toothbrush scene I heard so much about.

It is a rather unique scene even for the standards of  the fetish creating locomotive that is manga/anime.

I have pretty much given up on Macross 7.

Hang in there,   it DOES get better..

I just wrapped up the first 2 seasons of Log Horizon.    Got it on the super cheap last year around this time,  and a few friends were raving about it.       Maybe it's just me but meh.  It started pretty good,  but at some point during the 2nd season the plot decided to just fragment to the wind.    It suffers from some of the same issues that Index and Railgun did.. introduces characters.. spends 30 seconds on them,  then forgets them for most of the show only to bring them back and the viewer is supposed to remember who they are.   The 3rd season of Log Horizon starts with Winter anime season which is just around the corner.

Continuing with Higurashi, which IMO is this seasons winner,  it has some differences to the older anime,  but it is still hitting all the highs when it needs to.

When, I got through 21 episodes already of M7.  The highlight of m7 is the return of Milia and her VF-1. I am also interested in Log Horizon season 3.  More Akatsuki is never a bad thing.

I agree with @Stampeed Valkyrie. You're almost at the half-way mark.

A nice target would be episode 34, 'The Day Gigile Sang'. I found this episode incredibly touching and poignant on my first playthrough. It also helped me get invested more in the main cast. But if you get that far and still find yourself nonplussed, then that's okay. No harm done if you want to throw in the towel since you would have given the better half of this series a chance. I think the first half wears out a lot of fans, since it is such a slog before things get interesting.

*sigh* This season really does know how to disappoint.

Of the five shows I was following, there's only one I'd still rate as watchable... Jujutsu Kaisen.  There is so much lazy writing on display that I'm a little taken aback.

Attack on Titan's final season started airing today too.  If nothing else, it'll be fun watching that hot mess of a series go up like a fire at a Chinese fireworks warehouse.  I know that it's meant to be serious, but I am going to have an INCREDIBLY hard time keeping a straight face as the entire cast loudly voice their surprise that a nice young boy like...

Spoiler

... Eren who did nothing but talk about wanting to commit a genocide when he was growing up could grow up to... wait for it... commit a genocide.

It's less an action/horror series and more an accidental comedy once you realize that the entire cast really are THAT level of horror movie stupid.

That and the final story arc makes everyone into such objectively awful people that it's impossible to feel anything but satisfaction when they die bravely for no reason or reinvent suicide as a group activity.

Ah, yeah, this is the part where Hajime Isayama's manga jumped every shark on Earth in every possible reality and decided to change genres from dystopian young adult fiction to being the author's love letter to both far-right militant nationalism and violent antisemitism.

I've tried watching the final season but my tolerance for misery porn is limited and that's all this story arc is.

M7 has some really great parts but suffers from bad animation (QUALITY) and a lot of stock footage.  Basara can be pretty insufferable as well

Macross 7 brings us
Myria and her VF1
The old destroids
Mylene
Gamlin
Sivil
Gigile
VF-17D
VF-19S
VF-22S
A lot of pretty great music. Generally I prefer the songs with Mylene vocals but some of the Basara ones are alright too. Diamond calling being my favourite I think. It's either that or Spiral Answer

Did you watch the shorts too? Spiritia Dreaming I think it's called was pretty interesting.

I actually tried watching Monster Girl Doctor and Peter Grill against my better judgement. Couldn't get past the 1st episode of Peter Grill. didn't care for the animation/art. I wasn't much impressed by the source material but it didn't translate well either. Monster Girl Doctor wasn't as bad but does come off as more ecchi than the LN due to actual audio. I think so far at least (Ep2) the translation from print to multimedia is fairly good.

Peter Grill is basically just that one episode, twelve times.

I loved Max and Miria in Valkyries again.  After watching the movie my love for Mylene dropped so much.  Her sister Emilia is such a better singer.  I didn't watch the shorts.

There are some good moments in there... though a fair amount of it is inconsequential extras.

"Spiritia Dreaming" actually shows the Protodeviln being released by the investigation team and Gepernich and Gigile possessing their hosts.

"TOP GAMRIN" (sic) shows Gamlin's entry into the (New) UN Spacy and his training under Milia.

I just wrapped up Tonikawa, Over the Moon and I have to say I enjoyed it.   Nothing really outstanding about it but it was enjoyable.      Also on a recommendation watched Princess Connect Re:Dive.    Another title that entertained me even though it was pretty generic,   kinda got a konosuba type vibe to it.

and lastly Kami-sama ni Natta Hi  "The day I became a god"   Pass on this one.   This series was a disaster,  it had some funny in the beginning,  but when it came time for the big reveal it completely fell on its face.   It at least landed the ending,  but at that point I no longer cared.

Saw this one earlier in the year. Cute and decent for a mobile game adaptation. Speaking of which it's supposed to hit western shores soon.

I loved Tonikaku Kawaii it was great. Kami-sama ni Natta Hi was supposed to be sad and I never really teared up.  Considering Maeda Jun made it I was hoping it would be more sad like Clannad After Story.

I just love the Macross 7 song Heart & Soul.  I am just listening to it over and over.

I mostly agree with this, except that when I watched I thought some of the animation was actually good in few scenes. But it was a total waste. The story, characters and new mecha designs just didn't work for me.

I just started wrapped up Ep 3 of the Strike the Blood 2 OVAs.      Kinda meh on this title,   while I enjoyed the first season,  so far this is pretty unremarkable.      I am going to hold off for an episode or 2 on Winter 2021 titles,   give myself some breathing room.

Yeah, I'll concur with what the other guys are saying. I watched it last year for the first time, and I didn't find myself really getting into it until somewhere in the 30 ep point. I absolutely hate "Planet Dance" and they played the ever living crap out of that damned awful song.:bad:  I kept hoping Mylene would take over as lead singer, as I tended to like her songs better. By the end, I got what Basara was about, but I still thought he was a bit useless, and the VF-19 Kai wasted on him. Still, I watched the M7 movies after finishing the series, and I enjoyed those more, I think, than the whole of the series. Anyway, slog through and you might find yourself enjoying a little more, as I did.

I did finish it already it wasn't terrible.  I still do not like Basara much.

As Macross heroes go, Basara's not very memorable except as a pacifistic douche. He had a moment here or there, where he acted nobly, but his impact was mostly lost in his whole misunderstood artistic loner routine. Gamlin was a better hero, if a bit too stereotypically militaristically stiff.

The relationship between Miria and Max was interesting, fun at times, but also a little bittersweet. Having seen them fall for each other in SDF: Macross, you want them to work well together, both as spouses and in their duties.

Finished the Strike the blood 2 OVA's,   overall not as good as the first season.    I can see why this was in OVA format as every episode seemed to feature one of the Heroines topless,  which is creepy due to age of some of the Heroines..  the Mrs.  was amused by this so..  bonus I guess?

@Hikaru Ichijo SL Good to hear you finished M7.   I watched it way back and it is a title I will never go back and rewatch again.    Not that it was bad,  but it definitely was not any good either.   My 2 biggest complaints were it took something like 35+ episodes before it actually picked up,  and I should have probably dropped it.   The 2nd was the creep factor due to age between Mylene,  Basara, and Gamlin.   I think she was 13? or 14?    Gamlin was 20(ish) and Basara I think was 21 or 22..  some M7 fan will correct me if I am wrong but Mylene was pretty hyper sexualized IMO and that was creepy.    Obviously M7 is not the only anime to do this,  but it stands out enough that I was pretty put off by it.    Tame though compared to newer series.. (strike the blood 2 is a good example).

It still ranks higher then Macross Delta.. which is just... no.
