Looks good. Mine should be arriving tomorrow.

Gonna have to do something about all that plain white surface area...

Thanks @Lolicon, I wanted to try out the iPhone 11 Pro camera and this was perfect test subject. :D

Plain white shots are nice, but they can be tricky. I look forward to seeing your shots. :good:

Oh your shot looks great! I meant all those white spaces are begging for a panel wash. :D

Oh, haha I see what you mean now.  I thought you were going to try white background shots.

Yes, panel lines would make the 1A Max look even better, I look forward to seeing your panel lined 1A.

Be patient, young padawan. I'm certain Arcadia will reissue it... eventually. :unknw:

An unarmed sucker no more! Also, I broke the other shoulder transforming it to fighter. Back in to the repair bay! <_<

I love what you’ve done here.

The VT-1 is a TRAINER and not a FIGHTER!

Yeah Great job! Where did you get the gun from? or you did you borrow it from another one of your 1/60s? I want a gun for my HMR VT-1.

I have a couple of 1/60s that are basically junk and only good for spare parts, which means spare gunpods available. :)

Maybe you can paint/weather a broken one. As if it was rusty and aged from the day it got shot down. Just a thought...

Not a bad idea. Might do that after I detail all my valks and have no need for spares. :D

Some gerwalk snaps from before I broke the shoulder.

Did the shoulder break in the usual spot? I may go and file/reduce that shoulder bump swing in my 1/60 valks. I still think that bump just accelerates the shoulder deterioration.

You probably know this better than I do so, but I have seen someone here reporting that they totally ruin the valk by removing the bump entirely. The tab is need to keep the shoulder in position. Maybe reducing it a bit is a good balance between risk of shoulder breakage and usability. I just prefer to fix the shoulder (remove the pin and file it down and strengthen the joints with some glue).

Yeah, just "soften" the bump slightly, so the shoulder swivel goes above it smoothly, yet it can hold the shoulder position in Battloid mode. I need to transform them and study them first. I have not have that much experience with 1/60 V2 Yamato/Arcadia. To me the holy grail back then was the 1/48, so I got a ton of those, and i believe their shoulder mechanisms are better.

Since the joint that breaks isn't obvious, you can get shapewise replacements. My VT-1 had black shoulder hinges, it's not a big deal and I could paint them if I cared.

I probably need to get a few shoulder replacements, before shapeways or shapewise stop producing them. I have yet to brake one, but i know the pin situation is sadly there for some of them. [I saved that picture of the Yamato boxes lineup which states which V2 1/60 got weak shoulder from you Jenius]

Speaking of, my floppy original 1st release 1/60 YF-19 and its broken bicep may live as a fighter for eternity. This is one Yammie, I would not recommend to anyone. It can barely hold together this thing.

Dat rainbow canopy!

I wouldn't put the boosters on it, it's perfect just like that.

Re: the shoulder bumps. I just got KC's dark red Valk in recently and noticed that their shoulder swivels, while sharing the same swivel design as the v2 1/60, instead of having a bump directly in the path of the swivel, there's a little indentation at the end of the swivel that helps it to lock in place for Battloid/Gerwalk mode, but easily come out for transforming back to fighter. I thought it was a really nice solution. The shoulder joint is really the only thing about the 1/60 v2 that I don't like so this was a pleasant surprise.

I don't think there's a way to mod the v2 design to remove the bump/notch entirely and put a similar indent on it, so some very light sanding on the bump/notch, like @vlenhoff said, is the best (only?) real "fix".

@Lolicon Really nice weathering. Love it.

Wish I can find one of this at a reasonable price.

"Permanently" ? Are you glueing it on? are they that problematic?

Lol no I meant I'm keeping it in its fully loaded fighter configuration and probably not transforming it again. Not that we ever saw battroid in the movie it has such a unique set of boosters. :)

Yeah, it broke where the pin is knurled. Don't know why Yamato thought it was a good idea to use a knurled pin. Even before the shoulder broke, that part was already stressed and cracked without ever having been transformed (I bought this one new and unused from another board member a few years back).

After gluing the shoulders back together using a plastics bonder, I sanded down the knurled section as best I could with a metal file.

Yeah, don't remove that bump if you want the arms to stay up in battroid mode! :shok:

My VT-1 is going to stay in fighter mode forever and the repaired shoulders are holding up fine. :good:

Haha it's a pretty fighter on its own, but I do like the unique set of boosters that VT-1 has.

Got everything together and took a bunch of pics. That shade of orange is really overpowering in a lot of the pics I took. Turning on the overhead hangar lights helps to moderate it a little so the orange isn't so eye-bleeding.  Though it does drown out some of the panel shading too. :unknw:

Again, what i meant was to file it down slightly, not fully remove it. To smooth it down if you will. This way the swivel doesn't have to be forced vertically as much, and there is still sufficient support for the shoulder to work in Battloid mode. This could reduce unnecessary stress while transforming the valk, thus increasing reliability. I am baffled as to why Yamato/Arcadia think or thought this was a good solution. there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way the 1/48 works, except for the arms hanging a tad too low in fighter mode. Even KC knew not to do that, and came up with a better solution. Arcadia: ARE YOU LISTENING?

This is like dating the most beautiful woman in the world, but she has the voice of James Earl Jones.

I need to find my V2 Yam Hikaru 1J first release, which is one of those known valks for having the hinge cracking issue. i have never opened it, so this might be a good excuse to crack it free. Then again, i heard the pin being too big is the main issue, but it might prolong its life if less stress is involved. If not shapeways will get yet another disgruntled customer.

I know i am super late to the Yammie/Arcadia 1/60 V2 party, but i am still in shock. i am surprised no one has tried to do this in the past[please correct me if i am wrong]. Again, reducing the bump, not removing it altogether. In any case I'll keep you guys posted to see if this works or not. I mean it is a chunky piece of plastic, who thought of that as a viable or reliable solution? Anyway, thanks for reading. :5:

@Lolicon That's just pornography!
