Finally got around to decaling up my VF-25F after putting it off for about... 5 years.

As usual the decals are a combination of Hasegawa, 3rd party, and homemade decals (scanned Yamato sticker sheets reprinted as decals).

A bit of weathering added, but seeing as Alto went through three or four of these babies, I figured it shouldn't be too dirty and still look new. I'll save the heavy weathering for Ozma. :)

Attempted to repaint Alto to be more anime accurate, but man the molding quality of these Bandai pilot figures is just terrible.

Sorry for the so-so quality of the pics; the only camera I have is my phone. I'll snap some gerwalk and battroid pics when I get home later tonight. B))

Stunning!!!  Can't believe that's the toy, looks like an amazing model.  You should be very proud, congrats, what a stunning piece in your collection.  Now you have the dilemma of bringing all your pieces up to this standard to not make it stand out :p

You might want to paint the landing gears white now to make it fit into your gorgeous finish.

Thanks! And argh! You just had to point out the landing gears! I thought of painting them but skipped it out of laziness. Now they're really sticking out and I really will have to paint them!

At the rate I'm going, I'll have the entire SMS Skull Squadron done in about 15 years. -_-

Armors.

"Here we come

Gerwalkin' down the street

We get the funniest looks from

Everyone we meet

Hey, hey, we're the Valkyries

And people say we're flyin' around

But we're too busy shooting

To even wear a frown..."

Thank you, kind sir. I think I need to get myself a new dedicated camera. Phone camera just doesn't cut it, even if it is a really good phone camera. <_<

that's true, unless you go with one of those Sony phones with the high spec camera then you're always gonna struggle taking decent quality shots. I guess the camera on my Note 5 isn't too bad but they could be a lot better. I had been meaning to buy a proper camera for a while now but find it hard to justify the money when I could be spending that money on Valkyries or cars! LOL!

Same here. I have a Nexus 6P and for 99% of my needs, the camera is fine. But for taking really high quality pics of things like valkyries, it's lacking.

Just can't justify spending a lot of money for something I do so infrequently when that money can be spent on more toys. :D

Though I really wish I had a macro lens...

That's a great job, Lolicon! I like all the decals you put on them. You even did the displays in the cockpit.

I only put extra decals on my CF VF-25A according to the Hasegawa markings since I had gone through the trouble of painting it at the time.

Didn't have enough to do them all so I picked the one that wasn't part of the squadron to do.

I like the CF VF-1S with the GBP Armor, but I think the Armor would so much better if the Red parts were painted a matching shade of brown. Just a thought. B))

Yeah I'm thinking about either that or painting most of the armor brown.

That would be cool, if you go brown for the armor, then all the red parts should be grey, as well the shoulder missile hatches. Still waiting to see if you do a Cavaliers 1A. B))

I love the look of your weathering, with a mechanical pencil !? How do you give the "wash / air-brush" effect ?

After drawing in the panel lines with a mechanical pencil, I just use the Tamiya weathering master kit. Just brush it on with a Q-tip (I don't really like the official Tamiya applicator) and use the clean side of the Q-tip to smudge/blend it. If you mess up, you can just rub it off with a moistened cloth or Q-tip. When you're all done, just apply a clear coat over everything to keep your work from rubbing off.

It's really easy; if I can do it, anyone can! ^_^

Due to the glossy finish of older DXs, you'll need to apply a matt coat first before using the weathering kit, as it does not stick well to glossy surfaces. Thanks to MJ for the heads up on that! This was the first Bandai valk I've detailed like this so it was good to know. :)

For Yamato/Arcadia valks and newer Bandai valks, the weathering kit has no problem sticking directly to the matt finish plastic; no need to apply a matt coat first.
