They suck to assemble but are easy to paint

That's true. But I'm kinda done with minis at the moment. Burnt out, I've got a stack of Warhammer 40k models to build and paint, and I just don't have the drive...

Looking great actually. What make are the TV Nousjadeul-Gers?

Yeah I have a stack of X-wing repaints and we are playing X-wing when we have the time so ours are parked for now.

Thats a great collection of Zentraedi. I love that Breetai sculpt...Would love to have one.

I also have a clear Zentraedi Soldier from Exo/Plastic Cretins on my to do list.

Nearing that point myself, been painting 40K heavily since the Konor campaign in the summer. Still on my to-do list before the end of the year is:

1 Tactical squad

a full Eldar getting started set (4 bikes and a tank)

and a Tau Stormsurge.

I'd be done at least one of these if I was distracted by wanting to build and paint a tyranid warrior kill team.... let's not start on what I still have not planned but bought.

Podtastic; The TV's are reissues bandai. Cheap on Evilbay . Lots of putty and sanding and not taking myself too seriously with the gluing, seamless details. I got 2 long time ago. The color scheme are one Kamjins and the other a UN Spacy version and probably the last time I ever touch those little critters.

Nzeod; The Kamjin is from Plastic Cretins. Quite a clean 3D render.. Search them on Facebook. I also have a RE-4C Rabbit and a Gnerl in the same scale which I had customized as you can see on the following pic

Arbit; Yeah those are great. My shipping had a mishap and some pieces broke off. I have seen a Breetai by itself in the last couple of months hanging on Evibay. Otherwise buying the yellow Sub storm attacker is your only option

It's really hard to come to terms with all that anime magic. regardless of canon sources or not. It is impossible for Kamjin to fit on a Zentran power suit. let alone a Gnerl or even the Glaug. A foot/common soldier can't fit in the Gnerls or Regults. That's why I had the Gnerl oversized a bit. They have to simple be bigger mechas than specified in the books for a soldier to fit in. unless the Zentran sizes are 'wrong'.

On my end of things... ALMOST got a replacement 1/72 canopy for my F-14 Tomcat, but the model it came with was too much for me at the time. I hid it and waited for the 50% off sale (today)and would have been a couple of dollars...

...and it was gone from where I hid it.

Anyways, money's always an issue (long story, boring with parts of absolute terror interspersed), so buying a new one just for a canopy isn't gonna happen. And with shipping, a vac-formed one is almost as much.

Starting to think about just tossing it, as I don't need a "destroyed diorama" Tomcat.

In other news: I came across an old Mattel 1978 Cylon Raider:

No figure, missile launchers shot, so, I did some..."work":

Since these photos, the stripes have been corrected and made more "curving" than they look here. While not in scale with my 1/32 Moebius Viper (TOS), it should work for photography.

Stay tuned...

Bloody awesome!:D

Some more progress on the 1/144 GiMix Macross Airshow display

20171117_071639_zps9ssnfjqg.jpg20171117_071746_zpsqmrrhihk.jpg20171117_071652_zpsz9al1qkd.jpg20171117_071734_zpsr1izcqnk.jpg20171117_071711_zpsciahzayb.jpg20171117_071828_zpsun0dtjlv.jpg20171117_071814_zpslutn0mqt.jpg

Discovered that the GiMix macros decals that come with the VFs actually have a carrier film over the top of them that you need to remove after the decals are stuck down. Masking tape takes it off without damaging the decals.

1/144 is growing on me due to the abundance of German and Asian N scale rail kits we can repurpose. The wargamersand Gundam modellers use this scale as well so no shortage of items. And you can make scenes that fit in the house better or can even be wall mounted vertically like a picture.... which I'm doing with the Destroid Iraq  invasion scenes. 4 seperate display cases wall mounted the span the story lined up next to each other.

The Cylon Raider looks great Pengbuzz! I'm having some serious flashbacks!

Arbit, yeah, lilke MickyG said, it is just hand brushing, almost dry brushing with progressively lighter colors. I'm sure there are a ton of wargamer videos on them out there. It does look like your paint needs thinning or filtering (with panty hose) to help get the globs out. Airbrushing can be a pain sometimes. I'll get some more photos of the ship with scale items on it.

NZEOD, those look great! I love how you used the Macross scheme on them. - MT

More work on the X

I like to do what I call "supersonic baroque," a swirly pattern of embroidery typical of the lush baroque era, superimposed on to slick, geometric shapes. The result is like a tapestry wrapped around a cylindrical or hexagonal or triangular section. It does wonderful things in terms of detail.

For example, I picked up this cute little kit by Fujimi:

After assembling some parts I did a dry-fit of almost everything prior to painting:

Some paint added:

IMG_8962.jpg.94637dad0980988c113ddb5a06de2154.jpg

I didn't pay too much attention to Fujimi's official painting instructions, as the colors they mention don't even match their own example on their site here, and just did whatever seemed fine to me.

Then I added a little base (made with left-over resin poured into a Tupperware lid), with some gravel (actually scale HO beach sand) and Tamiya Diorama Texture paint for the earth:
IMG_8965.jpg.6e10f30ccb1ffe531d7daf8026a98945.jpg

That was yesterday.

It's pretty much done by now, but I need to wait until tomorrow to make some daylight pictures of the finished model...

Nice decks! I look forward to seeing your carrier deck with the UN Spacy banner.

The box cover looks like more paper was overlaid. Do they provide that, or you have to craft it?
