Aircraft Vs Super Thread VI

Recommended Posts

BTW can anyone tell me where I can get good images for F-22 paint schemes? Isometric or combinations of views would help. I've customized 2 of the True Heroes F-22's for my GI Joe figures, and plan on customizing more. The 1st 2 were with stickers only but for the next ones, I want to dwelve into paint.

More like, THE* scheme:

http://www.1999.co.jp/itbig09/10098636t2.jpg

(interesting in that all of those are marked as Commander's planes--none are typical line jets)

Also, a zillion pics at Airliners.net: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.sear...umbnails=noinfo

(I'm sure at least a few people will find new wallpaper from that link)

*well, there's always the coral-pink one: http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Air/L...-22A/1182411/L/

Whoa many thanks man! Turns out my custom F-22 for my custom Slipstream figure turned out somewhat accurate with sticker placement! What kind of gray is used for the surface edges?

The color used on the edges is unknown, even ARC's resident Raptor pilot doesn't know AFAIK. 36375 is the the most common one I've seen listed, I'd probably go with something warmer. 36440? 36307?

'cept that, not a single person believes the laptop excuse for that particular incident.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, an airline pilot was 1 step below an astronaut.... now, it's only 1 step above a bus driver. Though bus drivers aren't allowed to flip open the laptop for obvious reasons.

Could've fooled me, I swear those dual cockpit arrangement is the "in" thing this season...:lol::lol:

Just to put things back on track:

That PAK-FAK pic EI put up, keeps reminding me of a term used to described another plane -- "flying prostitute", as there is no apparent visible means of support.. Problem is, I can't quite remember the original plane it referred to.. anyone?

Lockheed says the JSF is not delayed, it's merely experiencing "schedule growth".

In other news, it's not overweight either, it's just had some mass growth...

Super-Er Hornet:

http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/defen...bd-7371ec37016f

Summary/commentary:

JSF for USN delayed to 2016 at the earliest. Combined with overall US fighter gap due to few F-22s, USN highly considering buying 124 more Super Hornets, and possibly more for Australia too. New Super Hornet would have F-35esque cockpit, 20% more thrust, and maybe Meteor missiles.

I say we call it the Super DUPER Hornet. :p Before this is over, they're going to run out of letters. I say they go full circle and call it the F/A-17C Super Cobra...

Pics of Russian victory day:

*snip*

As an interesting historical side-note to this event, American troops were invited to march in the parade as well, first time ever in Red Square. Source: NYTimes.

I thought this was great when I stumbled on it the other day. Hopefully it's a sign of better things to come.

David beat me to the Super Duper Hornet, but Boeing has also unveiled a new 1/16 model of it's F/A-XX concept which looks pretty cool. At the same time they've also unveiled a refined version of that same concept which looks pretty ugly.

Yeah, it's obvious that Boeing still keeps the X-32's designer on the payroll. Nobody else could make planes that ugly.

The F-23 goes to sea.

Took 20 years, but a look at what the Northrop NATF would have looked like has finally been revealed. Other then the diamond wings, it otherwise looks like a totally different aircraft.
