Uh no. That was just a tiny part of the horde they sent to reinforce the Cardassians. IIRC the Dominion itself was still undefeated. They tried to send another fleet through the wormhole but it got deus ex machina'ed away. They should stilll be nice and strong with shipyards, etc all over their Quadrant.

Not sure what they did with the story as it relates to the game - but Odo merging back with the collective at the end of DS9 probably had a "war is bad mmmkay?" effect on the dominion as a whole - I mean he saved the whole shapeshifter species from the Section 31 virus after all.

IIRC it was more of a 'learn to trust the solids' thing, which he said would only be done if he stayed in the Link (instead of staying to be with Kira?). In any case, still loads of Vorta and Jem'hadar in their quadrant. I don't really expect to see them in STO... well maybe in an expansion a bit down the road. They had some cool ships but don't fit all the categories. Their little fighter things, a decent sized cruiser, then that gigantor battleship. They filled out the rest of the ST class groups with Cardassian and Breen ships.

As far as the addition of more factions / races down the road:

Romulans: The next to be added, IMO. Disruptor and Plasma warship weaponry are already ingame. Ship models are already there, at least for several types including the D'Deridex Warbird. Haven't seen a Valdore yet. As far as uniforms go, I hope Cryptic includes TNG TV/Movie uniforms for them. Also, since they did have TOS Fed / Klingon uniforms, the Romulan TOS equivalent would be nice also. If the Federation players hate Klingon alpha strikes out of a cloak, they're REALLY going to hate the Romulans

From my experience so far into Tier 3 though...

Cardassians: I haven't seen any models / npc Cardassian ships ingame. But character models are possible. How are their ships going to play? As I recall from TNG episodes, Cardassians were strong believers in tough defenses and disciplined formation fighting. Meaning they'll fight closer to the Federation style. I'll go out on the limb and say they'll move slower but are tough. You just don't see ANY fast moving Cardassian ships, nothing like BoPs or those throwaway Federation fighters (I thought the Federation cared about crew survivability? lol) or the Defiant. If Cryptic had balls, there'd be no Escort Class, but a nasty emphasis on things to promote staying power, especially if in close proximity to other Cardassian warships.

Dominion: Haven't seen any Dominion related characters or ships ingame. I've been trying to make a Jem'Hadar but can't make him look like one. Haven't tried making a Vor'ta yet. IMO, their introduction would be later on. Like a big expansion pack. If the Dominion is going to break the peace treaty and reenter the quadrant, it would be a huge game event. The Klingons and Federation have been blasting each other to bits, weakening each other. The Romulans may be involved in that 2 way fight also, but they're not exactly in as powerful a position due to the loss of their homeworld and the core of their population. The Cardassians are still probably reeling from the Dominion War and the huge loss of life on Cardassia at the end of the war. Basically all the big players are worn down, even if they did unite against the return of the Dominion. Their technology would be more capable in meeting the Dominion compared to the first encounters, but by this time, they'd be badly weakened from fighting each other. It'd be a fun little era, IMO, where everyone has to ally together against a Dominion faction. If they return, they're going to arrive in force.

Dominion ship selection would be very small. A huge emphasis on Escorts (the numerous Jem'Hadar fighters), cruisers, and a HUGE battleship class. There was very few ship types seen in the shows.

You and I fought multiple Valdore warbirds, they have a different name in the game, as Valdore was the the name of that particular ship in Nemesis. But we we certainly fought them.

They're called Scimitar Dreadnoughts. They're tough but they're relatively easy (just time consuming) to take down as long as you stay behind them. At about 90' front they have that super weapon that will take you out fast. If you're in front of one and you see those spines going up, get out of there FAST.

I have yet to see one in game, but the Scimitar is not the same as the "Valdore":

Hopefully they eventually add that for the Intrepid. But yeah Scimitars are different, I haven't seen one of those yet, but me and David definitely fought some Valdores in beta.

Yeah I read that too David, I believe STO and Star Trek Legacy (or a mod for it) listed the Valdore as a different class, oh well. They are cruising around in game though. Hopefully they do make Romulans playable in future as I'd love to fly one.

Set my video settings to full and took a screenshot. :)

Also, been tweaking the design of my ship. I'm using the Celestial hull here, and this morning I switched to the Galaxy saucer. I wish you could rotate or nudge bits of your ship around. I'd like to make the nacelles horizontal.

A bit too reminiscent of the STVI fight. I do like the scene of Picard blinding firing in all directions with phasers, then when they get a hit letting loose the torps (which all miss, unfortunately). A bit contrived that a single salvo could drop a Sovereign from warp, but such is the way with plot contrivances. I thought the whole battle could have worked much better if they had shown the Scimitar jacking up that Starfleet task force until the Valdore-type ships arrive.

Seeing that task force in action would be been pure eyecandy for the fans, as it included multiple class leaders---the Galaxy and Intrepid themselves for starters. (though the Galaxy had already been seen on DS9) But I think that would have been about our only look at an Intrepid that wasn't Voyager.

I think I should feel proud? that I don't get that.

It just means you're less nerdy than me (or xkcd's creator).

EDIT: Or eugimon, apparently.

Personally, I kinda like being a nerd. Sure, it got me crap in high school, but the internet has made being a nerd almost cool.

sudo allow you at act as another user on unix and linux, but you need to tell it who to sudo to unless it is set in the profile.

Well, technically yes, you can use sudo to act as any other user. But most commonly (and I think by default) it's used to act as root.

Most Windows users are already familiar with the idea that you can run Windows as a standard user or as an Administrator. Unix does too, but what you may not realize is that even Administrators have limits. In Windows, the highest authority is Local System, which you can access by right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator" in Windows 7 or Vista, or from the command line. In Unix, the highest authority is called root. What it's technically possible to login directly as root, it's discouraged. From the Terminal (the Unix version of command line), sudo (super user do) is used to execute a command as the root user from a non-root account.
