Some food for thought when you're getting angry or frustrated by the delays. Comics generally pay crap compared to other work. Even in Japan which has a thriving comics industry. I really have to wonder how much Mikimoto gets paid working on "Macross the First"? Probably peanuts compared to his other job offers. That would certainly put the delays into perspective.

It is not fair to compare Mikimoto to other manga artists, since that is not his main profession. He is an illustrator and concentrates mostly on his own original artwork which is sold as limited prints.

As for what he's busy with, there is currently an exhibition at the Kyoto International Manga Museum that has a few brand new works of his on display.

Having said that, I noticed something... This thread is going to be six years old in a couple of weeks. We still have to see Minmay make her debut. Just saying. -_-

We could deliver commission fees for manga pages.

...

This sounds like a bankrupting proposition.

Let's get a tender in there. Let's ask his agent for a price.

I can imagine that the conversation would go along the lines of "LOL, these gaijin are crazy"

The ever shifting release date for the next chapter is now gone entirely... Is change coming or is the title officially on indefinite hiatus, I wonder?

Blame Bandai Visual and BigWest for all the new release materials that "REQUIRE" a Mikimoto original cover art.... Let the internal conflicts commence...

No answers yet. So I guess it's safe to assume that this series is done for now. -_-

More like done for good. <_<

So...they're targeting 2017 for the release of Volume 7?

How many chapters are usually in a tankoban?

Six, including "extras" in the more recent volumes (4, 5 and 6); chapter length has been dropping and the last two chapters were only 20 pages long. If they stay that short, we're looking at seven chapters in volume 7. Then again, Mikimoto may have recharged his enthusiasm during his absence and we might get another 80+ page monster or two to finish off the Tales of South Ataria arc before going back to Lap'Lamiz investigating human pornography on orders from Bodole Zer, which is where we left off...

(Now we know why she was so interested in "making culture" with Kamjin in the final episodes of SDFM...)
