I've been hard at work on this AMV for sometime and I felt I couldn't do justice with your ol'regular edited style AMV for Frontier. If any of you went to AX AMV Contest this year it premiered there, well it premiered first at Fanime technially lol. Finally Macross Frontier gets the respect that it deserves! ^_^

Anyways you all can check it out here as it's also available in HD, also you can check it out on

if your too lazy to download.

Feel free to post others here if you know any.

That. Was amazing. Great work, dude.

By the by, YouTube DOES display in HD. Probably not as high quality as a raw MP4, but still in the upper range.

My work: Alto is Better than Shin

My work in progress: Ace Combat Frontier

Still in an early stage. Have to find the right scenes and get higher-quality trailer to run with. Also, I forgot to cut some stuff off the end of the WIP, so wait till the last 3 or 4 seconds before leaving the video.

The first one, I made a GIF of, because it's funny.

My wife, a couple friends, and I watched the AMVs at AX. This was the last video of the night, and we voted for it as best in it's class. It was a very cool video, and woke us up from some other very dull AMVs. Very well done. Thanks for putting the link up of it.

Excellent AMV man, really well done on the editing. im in the process of making a tribute amv with all of macross.

Thank you, I'm definitely looking forward to your tribute AMV, don't forget to post it here when your done. And remember take your time with your AMV, you'll get the best results that way.

Well done. Just outstanding work, don't know what else there is to say but outstanding!

Thanks, I'm really glad that you liked it!

Thank you! :)

Yeah I'm surprised at the Youtube quality since I assumed the video itself would be butchered with artifacts, I guessed wrong. The HD version on Youtube however is comparable to the HD version that I have for upload on the org.

But I'd like to see more progress, if you can as a tip refrain from using subtitles in your AMV, it puts you one level above everyone else.

Simply stunning. This is an amazing video. Well designed and very smartly edited. Bravo!

Thank you, the AMV was made in a span of about 6 months from brainstorm to finish.

Great job! Good AMV and nice soundtrack too. Keep the good work!

I really appreciate the compliment, if you read the comments in the video profile I discovered the song while watching Conan 'O Brian.

However this won't be my last Macross AMV. ;)

Like the saying, they always save the best for last. :p

I'm definitely glad that you and your friends enjoyed it at this years AX, as it also my first time getting into the contest this year. But to just hear how much you all enjoyed it makes it all worth it.

My real intention was to broadcast interest of the amazing series and it looks to be working! ^_^

Wow! That's a keeper!

I'm pretty much speechless at this point on all the positive responses. I'm glad that it's a favorite of yours now. :)

great video! Can we show this at MacrossWorld Con?

Of course, hell I'd be honored if you did, you have my permission. Chances are I'll be attending Macrossworld Con this year anyways.

The responses that I'm getting here are just stunning, again I'm glad that you all loved it. ^_^

It's a placeholder for the actual video I plan to use. Keeps timing and all.

Like I said, I still need to get a better version of the trailer to work with. Also, I should probably torrent all of Frontier, so I have all 12 hours to work with for material. (Everything in that video is from 10, 13, 24, and 25, I believe)

I had that episode, not from the sub group I normally d/l'd from, but from a group that doesn't save as .MKV, so the subtitles were hard-coded. If I'd had it in MKV, they'd be separate, and it'd not have the subtitles. The purpose of the WIP vids for it were for some people I know to keep their whining down while I worked.

Yeah, I see it. Just not familiar with the artist, that's all :).

Don't hold your breath. I won't be able to finish it until I can torrent all of MacF, find a HD source trailer, and upgrade my computer, because my MP4 codec that allows WMM to handle MKVs slows my PC to hell. It becomes unusable. I've had to cut power to get it back in working order, which screws up progress and sometimes the project file.

And if I've accidentally moved any file, it's all gonna die.

I'll work on it more when I get some more RAM for my computer.

If your going to use Frontier try to get the regular DVD rips, not that I'm endorsing it or anything but the quality is generally a lot better than that of the TV show. :p

I had to use the TV show itself since Frontier was not fully released by the time I finished my project.

It's pretty amazing where you can find your ideas.

If your planning on editing in HD, don't use WMM, try to find a handy editor like Premiere or Vegas. WMM is good if your getting into the zone with basic editing, but nothing on the level of doing HD work. Make sure to also have a nice PC to handle the HD content since editing real-time in that resolution, despite my specs (E8500, 8800GT, 750GB, 4GB DDR2 RAM), raped my computer, literally. :(

I suggest editing first in the usual 720 x 480 resolution like most editors before you head into the HD , as even most experienced editors still don't edit in a HD resolution. It's a lot less stressful on your machine. I took the path as a experiment, since I knew I'd be spending months on it, so might as well make it look good. Though I really regret not using Blu-Ray rips. <_<

To note AMV.org has a big load of guides to help you out, I suggest you look there before you start editing, also they have been recently updated too.

Well, I plan on downloading all of Frontier in a torrent, so... It IS an option, albeit one I'm probably not gonna take, so I can keep everything the same quality.

Well, actually WMM Vista is very good at HD editing, and it can export in 1080p (The quality I export everything in now). I also like it because it's free versus between 100 and 400 USD. My PC can handle it, it just moves very slowly with the codec I'm using. Problem is, it's the only MKV codec I know. Also, I don't feel like uninstalling it again to find none of my media is playable anymore.

Don't think I'm new to video editing. I've been doing this since '06. I just haven't ever gotten an AMV done right. Look at my YT channel.

AMVs aren't the only types of videos out there, you know.
