Hi Guys and Gals,

I have a 1st issue 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru with stealth fast packs; it's as close as I can get to a 1/55 Bandai VF-1S Strike Valkyrie.

I'd like to know if you guys know, are the reprinted 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru version have tighter joints than the previous reissues? HLJ has it on sale right now, http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00190

Or would you guys recommend the new v2 1/60 VF-1S?

I might be wrong but IIRC someone here had a few issues with his reissue 1/48. I got a reissue VF-1J early last year, and the right hip is loose.

Overall the V2 1/60 VF-1S is much tighter.

The main issues with the first issue / production 1/48 VF-1S Roy and Hikaru, and VF-1A Hikaru were loose nose cone (fixed with a change in tooling so the nosecone has a slot to bite onto), some floppy joints tightened. slightly loose canopy??? and crooked skulls on the tail fins.

The 2nd production starting with the first issue VF-1A Max fixed all that. So 2nd issue VF-1S Hikaru + Roy, and VF-1A Max and 2nd production Hikaru, and first issue VF-1J Hikaru (regular and super pack) were all fixed. 3rd production were fairly good too with little complaints.

But as time went on, around the 4th production, crooked skulls came back on a few of them since I was asked a lot to part out straight skull fins here on MW, and by the 5th or 6th production, when the 3rd re-issue Max and Millia came around, reports of exploding shoulders for the first time came out for 1/48s.

This was when the wave of the super cheap Max and Millia Super 1J sets and I think the VF-0 series. Now you guys know why. There were complaints by buyers here in HK about it. I am not sure of the DRYL VF-1s shoulders at this point.

Funny that the price of plastic and labor goes up but the 1/48s get cheaper yet costs more to make than a 1/60! Probably a change in factory or something.

You are usually safe with 2nd - 4th production and I don't think the VF-1S had exploding / crackling joints ever but best to check with recent buyers of new stock.

just made another 1S hasegawa.. using the same kit, now hikaru's unit.

IMG_8206.jpg

I think that is one of the most perfect pose of a VF-1S battroid I've seen! Beautiful! So bad ass in fact I'm going to break out my 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru now and work on detailing it. If you add slightly feint panel lines, it will look even better!

If someone has Hasegawa 1/72 and Yamato 1/60 + 1/48, I would love to see the same exact pose side by side!

Hi everyone, Here are some pictures of my vf-1s unassembled kit. finally I finished the assembly most of it was easy to assembly just a few things like the legs were more complex but not imposible. by now i will leave it like it is completely white but if any ideas on what color scheme should i paint it is welcomed. you will never see a valkirie whiter than this one hahahaha. btw hikaru took it for a test flight, he did not complain about the performance so that means i did a good job!!hahaha

Glue needed? :) Nice job!

Hi Caslon, yes some parts require to be glued like the nosecone for example. in my particular case i left many parts without glue just in case i deside to paint it, but that doesnt affect the transformation, works fine like any other yamato 1/60 V2.

Thanks mate! Really appreciate it:) I tried to grab one of those but missed it during the sales.... :( Please show us again if you wanna paint it in the future! :p

Past and present!! after a long time like 3 years I finally decided to take the vt1 V1 out of the box. never seen the v1 and v2 together in one shot so i wanted to try and see what happends this is the result. for me the V1 looks like a toy from the 80s hahahaa. I never understood why the v1 box was so big but still looks great.

MACROSSColleJohns4-14-111.jpg

MACROSSColleJohns4-14-112.jpg

* YAMATO 1/60v.II VF-1J ICHIJO TV TYPE

* BANDAI 1/72 HCM VF-1J ICHIJO TV TYPE

* CM's CORP. 1/8 "GUTTO KURU" Lynn Minmay

* MACROSS CHRONICLE MAGAZINE Vol.1 (with large detailed article covering the Ichijo TV VF-1J)

(i have a transparent plastic ring binder envelope bound into the magazine,

between the last page and back cover, that neatly contains the instruction manuals and HCM file cards for both 1Js)

i've parted ways with my 1/48s, and given my sole 1/55 to my mother's boyfriend.

that pretty much consolidates my current MACROSS toy collection to what is shown above there.

i've a few additional major MACROSS acquisitions planned,

such as a VF-1S Focker, a YF-19 D.N. a VF-11C, and the YELLOW SUBMARINE 27cm.

DYRL Lynn Minmay doll, if i can happen across one at a reasonable enough price.

i'm also considering adding an unbuilt 1983 IMAI edition 1/72 VF-1J Ichijo T.V.

but my mind isn't entirely made up about the necessity of that yet.

finally, i think i'll be investing in the 1988 DYRL "GOLD BOOK" one of these odd days.

there are lots of other little "minor" items i've had my eyes on, and just might get a hold of

one of these odd days, but those mentioned above are my MVP standouts.

one final thing; i just recently found an old (1950's/1960's) tin sewing machine accessory case

at a yard sale for almost free, that i have fairly clumsily appropriated into a case for my

VF-1's accessories. it serves the purpose quite well;

VF-1AccsCase4-14-111.jpg

VF-1AccsCase4-14-112.jpg

also, i finally broke down and detailed the cockpit of my HCM VF-1J.

i intended out the outset to leave it unpainted for the same "retro look"

as the TAKA/BANDAI 1/55s, but i decided in the end that the HCM deserves better than that.

the toy/model honestly displays SO much better in FIGHTER now. i also ditched

the awful HCM "pilot figure" and appropriated one of the pilots from my three

1/72 IMAI/BANDAI VARIABLE TYPE model kits to make a superior pilot figure for the HCM;

getting a bit claustrophobic, but still missing the 1J's-v2...

^_^

edit: another shot added

Not to make you upset.. but you are also missing the CMS max Q-Rae figure, virgin road, and DYRL? VF-1A and 1S. Still though, awesome collection.

I have the CMS DYRL? MAx pilot suit special figure coming for my Max Shrine...and I also am missing the VF-1J's. :(

The Max Q-Rau figure is in the top pic. Maybe you missed it.

Due to Golden Week, my SVF1A-Max ain't here, yet. It's slated for the Skull-Team top-shelf, tho.

Waiting for a re-release of the regular Max-1S since the Weathered MAX-1S is way too overpriced.

Never like the Virgin Road Max...

Okay just where did you get that CMS Q-Rau Max Pilot figure from I looked everywhere and could not find it. My Max Q-rau is empty, which makes me wonder why Yamato would ever release a toy without the figure in the first place.

Ebay has them too. Just search CMS macross and there should be a couple. Harder to find is the CMS Max pilot suit. Took me awhile to track one down.

AH! I see now. I guess I only looked at the one photo.

I just got my virgin road Max and the paint scheme is awesome in person. Makes me miss not having M&M VF-1J's even more. I would look for one if I was you...Ami ami has them.

just finished adding final detail work to my vintage VF-1 HCM;

1-60vII-1-72HCM5-15-11.jpg

as you can see, the head laser turrets are now their proper white tone,

and the shoulder floodlight/sensor modules have a touch of TAMIYA CLEAR ORANGE

to match the look of the Yammie 1/60v.II...

Got my VF-22S Max and Millia today for only 242.00 that was 92.00 each plus shipping on the clearance price. HAd to clear out some DVD's from my second bookshelf and into my new entertainment set just to make room for them.
