3D lighting tutorial

Some of you know that I did some mapping for the Unreal video games series a while back; some of these works got awards by professionnals of this industry, such as CliffyB Ownages, and a pair of them made their way through the finalists of the international competition of the Make Something Unreal Contest back in 2004

A few years back, I wrote a tutorial about lighting for Unreal Tournament 2004 and it has now been translated in english by a person whose english is the native language. Although my description of this tutorial may sound very specific, its first part presents fundamental theories about the lighting in general but also the necessity of contrasts and how to use complementary colors in order to get these, as well as some other tips: these informations are usefull for any wannabe artists, whatever software they use, 2D or 3D but also web or print. The rest of the tutorial presents in depth study of official maps in order to explain the "how and why" their lighting was done this way instead of another, and this reading can also be informative to some extent

I know there's plenty of artists here, so I thought it may interest some of them

This tutorial is hosted on Unreal.fr, right here:

Bonne lecture :)
