Maxfactory's Figma Line

That Pyramid Head is really cool. I never realized he was just a big glob of bio mass and tissue underneath the helmet.

Also gonna buy like two of those Arise Motokos :)

^Do you mind adding a line about which line for Iron Man do you like the most, S.H. Figuarts or Figma and why?

Was thinking about a possible purchase but I wasn't sure if I should pull the trigger, and if so which line to focus on.

Sure. How about a mini-review?

Keep in mind that these three are the only IMs I currently have. I don't have the older Mk-6 or Warmachine.

That said, they are different suits and they have their own quirks, which cancels out each other's quirks. Articulations and stuff are pretty much the same between the shf and the figma. The proportions are nice on both lines.

Bandai seemed to have cheaped out on the gimmicks as the SHF Mk-42 has the wrist-guards always popping-out, and the Iron Patriot's shoulder-weapon likes to be static only since it likes to disengage when articulating it. The boxes for these are typical Bandai bootleg-friendly-lookalike generic. As with other figuarts, it does not include any stand. (Only the Sailor Moon figuarts seem to include stands as regular box-accessories).

The SHF Mk-42 ankle-joints are tight, so be aware when freestanding it the first time. Iron Patriot's joints are alot smoother out of the box, in contrast. Also, Mk-42 seems to have some loose rattling with the underarm-joint's inner-cover/frame or something. Nothing major, but just a bit annoying.

Despite all those quirks, Mk-42 is excellent. Iron Patriot even more so.

Figma only has the Mk-VII and is very shiny!

It's about $10-$20 more than either of the SHF. I think it has more hands (two non-wrist-articulated pairs to use/insert the effects and three pairs for regular/non-effects). Comes in a bigger and classier box that includes the usual figma-stand and baggie. Joints are as excellent and smooth as Iron Patriot.

As you can see, it's a bit taller than the SHF.

Both the SHF feels like it's made of sturdier plastic to withstand abuse. The figma's plastic feels a bit softer, but seems quite sturdy to withstand abuse, too. I'm not sure what type of materials these two lines uses since they really feel different from each other.

Lastly, GSC pulled a bandai and made the Full Spec version a shop-exclusive. The nice extras on the Full-Spec are less than 1000y on its own, but GSC is being a dick about not offering it at all outside the shop-exclusive Full Spec.

I would say among the three, I suggest to get the Iron Patriot.

The figma is nice and shiny, but rather incomplete. On its own, the figma is really nice. Just that GSC withholding the Full-Spec extras is very irritating to me.

The Mk-42 is nice, but I'm not really fond of the color since I like IM more red than gold. The solid-plastic sofa comes as a first-press bonus. Not really essential.

Thank you very much! For some reason I want to lean more towards the Bandai line but in any event I really appreciate the time you took to write up a mini-review. :)

I have the Sh Figuarts Iron Man Mk VII Black and Gold Marvel NOW! (that's a mouthful) repaint. I don't own any Figma's so I can't give you comparison but i can say that I was extremely impressed/happy with that figure and want to get the 42, War Machine and Iron Patriot now.

Alright then, that settles it. I may try my hand at hunting down the Black and Gold variant, if I find some wiggle room in the pre-order budget.

Yeah, this was the deal-breaker for me. I was really excited when GSC announced the Mk. VIII, but when I learned about the shop-exclusive BS, I refused to buy it.

hmm,

GearTribe Hatsune Miku GT Project 2014 Ver.

Hatsune Miku GT Project. Shoji Kawamori x Good Smile Racing

In February 2014, a concept illustration by Shoji Kawamori of a transforming Miku robot quickly gained popularity, and now it is finally becoming a real product.

The car itself is sculpted to the same level of quality as any other model car, faithfully reproducing the paintwork of the actual racing car in full detail.

When transformed into robot form, the 1/24th scale car becomes larger than you may expect, standing an impressive 275mm in height.

The transformation has been carefully calculated by Shoji Kawamori and makes use of dynamic movements which allow the transformation to look amazing even when only halfway through the changes!

It's a product born from an amazing project, that fans are sure to enjoy in their collection for years to come!

Is that a CARWALK?

I saw this and thought that for Macross Delta we're gonna get head kibble in addition to the hip kibble. However I soon realized that the "head kibble" are Hatsune Mikus ponytails.

Well payed Kawamori, well played...

...that said I would be more interested if the robot had a humanoid head.

I need that so much... it can't be a coincidence that it's coming out around my birthday!

I wonder if there's any chance that the helmet visor could be removable in order to fit a figma face in there? It'd be awfully small on a robot that size, but its proportions look weird enough that it might work.

EDIT: Pre-ordered! Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. I knew about the Kawamori concept and animation, but I had no idea GSC was actually making it.

It's possible, you might even be about to pop the whole head off, and put the Figma head on.

Yeah, that was my first thought, but an oddity about figma Miku 2.0 (#200) is that her head isn't actually removable. I'm not sure about the newer racing versions, but I assume they're the same way. Also, having the robot helmet to frame the figma face might make up for the huge scale difference between a 4" figma and an 11" robot. I dunno, just wishful thinking - I'm sure if the toy could do that, they'd have mentioned it.

I love the transforming bike idea, but they'd have to get Shinji Aramaki on board for that one!

I think you can figure out what I asked for. ^_^:p

They already made the nendoroid, if it sells well would just be a matter of time to have the figma.

But I'm not sure if MaxFactory can do a Disney character with the same quality they do anime school girls.

Kaiyodo has done some Disney Pixar stuff in their Revoltech line, but I would sure prefer anything Disney to be made by Max Factory/Good Smile under the Figma line.

Here's the wish list I entered:

1) Figma versions of characters, male and female, from Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

2) Figma versions of characters, male and female, from Macross Plus.

3) Figma versions of characters, male and female, from Macross Frontier.

4) Figma versions of characters, male and female, from Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

5) Figma versions of all four Knight Sabers, in their respective armor suits, from Bubblegum Crisis and/or 2040, plus a Boomer.

6) Figma versions of Batou, Togusa, Aramaki, Ishikawa, etc. from GitS SAC to go with the recently released Major Motoko Kusanagi.

7) Figma versions of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, "Radical" Edward with Ein, Vicious, and Julia from Cowboy Bebop.

8) Figma renditions of historical warriors: Spartan, Greek Hoplite, Roman Centurion, various Roman Gladiators (Murmillo, Secutor, Thracian, etc.), Samurai warriors, Shinobi, different versions of Medieval Knights, Templar Knight, Apache brave, Lakota warrior, Western frontier US cavalryman, etc.

Do I expect any of what I've outlined to come to fruition? No, but I can dream, can't I?

Do you want a nendoroid, figma or statue of those characters. They won't know unless you tell them. :)
