The Focker's Fokker!!!

Hi my Friends!

I introduce to you my latest creation: The Fokker D VII used by Roy Focker in the Flying Circus of Hikaru's dad (or this is another lair of Robotech? )

Anyway, I used to make this aircraft a Roden Model kit, with some modifications, and decals designed by a friend of mine, the infamous Mike Hawk.

These are transitorial pics, I'm waiting a set of Tamiya Wheathering pigments, to dirt the motor and other parts. Then I'll take the definitive pics, with better light (no flash).

As always, any comment will be welcome.

Details of "Haru" and "Kawamori" decals:

For Color Scheme and details, I used some captures of the TV show, and images from the Macross Mecha Manual web page: Thank you Mr. March!!

I've built a lot of Roden models. Some of them had horrible fit issues. Others were really good! How was this one? And nice build, too!

That's right! This is one with horrible fit issues  Anyway, is the best Fokker D VII that I found, it have many more details than Airfix, by example.

While Roden does have quality and fit issues, the actual detail on their 1/72 aircraft is really quite good.

Anyway, looking forwards to your next model!

Nicely done.

Your turning into a modeling machine like HWR :)

Nah he is just gearing up fr the Spartan. I usually finish a moscato kit well before he even gets his :) I think he is going to try to beat me this time.

Excellent work on the biplane. its the last macross aircraft anone thought they would see a model of.

That's a nice model cool8or good to see someone else models more than just the valk's. You did a nice job, I built this model for a customer at the start of last year out of the roden kit, turned out beautiful as your's has. I'll have to get him to send me some pic's of the collection I've built for him over the past 12 months, I think he stands at about 28 macross models I've supplied, but I'm starting to lose count. I know I've built 58 macross kits for customers and 7 kit's for myself in 2007 and it looks like it's going to be a bigger year this year. Great as always work keep it up. :)

Hahaha You're right! Also, you are one of the best builders on this board, I consider myself a beginner yet.

2007 was a hard year, building day after day... I am obviously slower than many of you: A model take me to finish 1 month aprox.

Anyway, thanks for your words guys!

I built this model for a customer

You built a Fokker D VII with Roy Focker color scheme?

Yeah my main customer last year was a huge Robotech fan and wanted the Fokker D for something different and also it's a model disregarded by most fans, but it was a lot of fun, but yeah it looks almost the same as yours but I moded the kit to have the open intake above the prop and extended the exhaust, thinking of it now I changed quite a bit of the model to get it to look like the line art. I beleave him and I are now just missing the Dragon II but I plan to scratchbuild a couple this year. I've also done a lot of F-14's in macross markings and they seem to be the latest thing for my customers this year, everyone want's a Macross "Jolly Roger" F-14 it seems this year.

Great to see this model built! I had the same idea some years ago but I must admit I have only bought two of the old Revell D-VII´s instead of the better Roden kit. Two because I wanted to do the red Hikaru version as well... but I never got started.

No problem Grapeape! In fact I'm glad... which is that forum?

The Aerodrome WW1 Aviation Website

It's a LONG-running site with a very active form (see "forum" link on the main page) full of model builders ALMOST as obessed with WW1 aviation as we are with Macross here!

Planning to build the Fokker D.VII Albatros single-seater.

Any comments from you WWI specialists if this is the right version flown by Roy and Hikaru?

There was a two-seater, and an OAW version of the Fokker D.VII as well.

Awesome!

Just a simple build. Nothing special.

But wait... I can add signal lights. And a motor for the propeller. And photo-etched parts. And...

I am so psyched!

My dad introduced me to my first models as a young teen in the 80's with the balsa wood Fokker aircraft. I built dozens of them. They are the type with ribs and you spread the thin paper, then wet it so it stretches across the frame. They look great.

I was already a Macross addict, but didn't know the connection.

I have half a mind to build a balsa model instead.
