25th Anniversary GI Joe

WTF, Canada only gets generic cards that are either Cobra or Gi Joe? That's pretty pathetic.

Nothing on the card about the individual toy. That's horrible. I'm not going to be buying any of these in Canada... sigh. I hate how toys work this way. It's always been this way since I was a kid. I remember back in 1994, I had to goto the states to buy Exosquad, Star Trek, and Robotech toys because they were too lazy to release Canadian packaging versions or to sell them here.

I hear ya. It's kinda strange, considering how they went so far as to "Canadianize" the sticker sets and file cards back in the day (Scarlett from Grand Prairie, Alberta?? Poor girl :p ). I guess we're just not a market Hasbro bothers to cater to anymore. I've been getting these figures solely from web stores. At least by getting the US releases, we don't lose half the file card content to make space for the French. <_<

Yeah, I saw the Canadian packaging for the wave 7 Joes ... man they look lame. Shame about that.

But at least you guys get the same file cards right? Although, with only half the text because they need to put some stuff in french, no?

C'est n'est pas juste!!!

:p

::grumble grumble:: Checked Target at lunch. NO single-carded figures. Not even Buzzer. A half-dozen Hawk/Scarlett packs though. That was IT. Looks like everything's being reset for a massive "Hulk" space though. (It's got more space than Ironman)

Found the new wave in So. OC. The Mission Viejo Target had the new Snake Eyes with the butterfly knives, but that's it. The rest were the regular Scarlett/Hawk 2-packs.

The new Hulk movie toys were out on the shelves today as well. They looked *blah* as well.

Those are actually in scale with the gijoe figures...and some figures in the line are gijoe figures from the DTC waves. The Humvee is a retooled joe Humvee too.

The Mission Viejo Target had the new Snake Eyes with the butterfly knives, but that's it.

Snake Eyes and the Viper are packed 2 per case in the initial cases.

I was finding U.S. stock 25th Anniversary GI JOE in Calgary Wal-Marts but they were usually all scavanged by the time I got there. All I managed to get was U.S. Crimson Guard.

No filecards, it's a flimsy piece of folded paper packaged behind the figure IIRC.

Check out these Canadian cards mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Those cards suck! At least the figures are cool.

Honestly though, I'm not even a big fan of the artwork on the US cards. I like the originals much more. The new ones, are paint overs in photoshop. You can't see it from afar, but up close, they don't look as good as the originals. Even the new vintage-styled work for new characters isn't as good. Its like the artist got the technique down in photoshop for digital painting but forgot about color theory and the underlying form. The painted over colors look very dull compared to the much more vibrant originals.

That's what they are, they are going to change them soon to a generic one soon.

Yeesh! I never saw those! That's freakin' pathetic! The few I saw down at Another Dimension must have been US imports.

pretty fireworks

pretty lame attempt at capturing interest

Thats what happens when they make stuff generic! Im thinking importing is your best solution hey! I only get to import mine here in Australia too, but its worth it for such great figures !

I almost bought Snake Eyes v3 and battle armor Cobra Commander today at Frank & Sons. $12 for the former was a bit steep, though. If I don't see him from my casual visits to Target, though, I might have to yield by Wednesday.

Found Wild Bill & Jet pack Duke at Target tonight (that's all they had in stock) along with comic packs ... looks like someone else had first pickings of wave 7 ...

Surprised they left Wild Bill. Duke is only good if modified(arms). Wild Bill is a great figure, the only dissapointing thing about it is that the head is small. Snake Eyes, Wild Bill, and the Viper are the best figures in the wave. Snake eyes in that wave is the best one in the entire anniversary line, regardless of what costume it is based on. All of his weapons aside his nunchakus can be stored on his body. Technically you can shove his nunchakus in between his back and backpack, since it isn't shown or mentioned anywhere on the package, I don't think that counts. That figure has the best range of motion of any Snake Eyes in the anniversary line. This is one of the very best anniversary figures in the line. I'm hesitant to ever say that about a Snake Eyes figure, but in this case its true.

Got Hooded Cobra Commander and a Destro for my birthday... I've gotta say, these figures are lightyears ahead of the last GIJoe figures I bought (Valor v Venom stuff)... I'm pretty impressed. I was gonna grab the comic two-pack with the Crimson Guard and Elite Cobra Trooper guy, but the face on the CG was broked... too bad, as pretty much all anyone around here has now is the comic-two-packs. I'd like a really good Snake Eyes to replace the VvV one I've got (even tho that's a pretty rad fig, right on the beginning of the added articulation).

Which one do you have? The wave 7 version, the wave 1/3, or the single pack with 2 scabbards? A good replacement for that would be the single card Snake Eyes with visor that came out in wave 1 of the anniversary joes, or the wave 7 version which just came out, but lacks the visor.

Insanely cool (IMHO) news:

Matt Trakker (as in, the guy in M.A.S.K. with the flying Camaro) is going to be "Specialist Trakker" in an upcoming wave.

Yep, DESTRO posted that a day or 2 ago, then TNI decided to call Neal Hoffman because they doubted him.

Hasbro has the rights to M.A.S.K. since Kenner was absorbed into the company during the mid 90's. I hope we get M.A.S.K. vehicles somehow. Trakker had some bad ass vehicles towards the end of the line.

Uhm, I dunno about this news. What will his accessory be? An oversized MASK?? Could be cool or lame ... I'll reserve judgement until I see the figure.
