In the remaining few months left this season, there isn't enough time to produce an episode and get it on the airwaves so most are just going to move ahead to next season. The bad news is lots of shows laid off staff so they also need to re-hire or hire new staff for the show now. That's going to eat up some time as well. I guess they'll drag that for ANOTHER YEAR. Keep in mind that the Fall season announcements will be next month. Lost isn't like Heroes in terms of production schedules. Hell this gives them MORE time to fix up Season 3 before it airs and I think most of us can easily say that Season 2: Chapter 2 suffered from sophomore blues(sucked choclate salty balls) until the last few episodes.
