Is alt convoy any good as an alternator? I managed to find him in one of the stores I go to.

The main issue for me is he has those evangelion type things for shoulders. I think it looks bad. I wish he had a different transformation but the head is what makes him cool. It's PRIME!!

As for loliprime: heh japan is weird... see the credits to later episodes of maross7 for pedo softcore porn. Do we really have to see mylene naked? I don't care how old she is in the show, she has the body of an 11 year old kid FFS..

awe man, you guys know sex sells. I can't think of anything here in the U.S. that does not have a half naked chic in the pictures. Even R/C cars havel half naked chics in there advertisements. I mean, R/C cars people And anything else you can think of.

Takaratomy, is thinking(like I know), slow sales, add naked chics to product. Sales go up. If sales bomb, then they have to go on clearance and it becomes a buying oportunity for me. The chic doesnt bother me so much, but I dislike the pink surfboard. They should have used a different color. It does not look good with a red truck.

This move to add chics to toys makes complete sense. Just go to a convention. Observe the droves of manboys gawking at hot underage looking cosplayers. That equals sales as far as takaratomi is concerned.

Think about this. If transformers were to really come down to earth in a real life situation. Who would they hang out with? Us or girls gone wild. I think the latter! Optimus aint going to be doing construction work. Hes genna be pulling jet skis on his way to the beach.

It's more that I would much prefer a fully developed woman than a flat chested pre-pubecenst kid, you know what I am saying? heh. I don't see what the attraction is to the really really really young.

If given a choice to hang out with one, I would choose to hang out with cammy, than some babyish little kid.

This is obviously a clash of cultures between the Japanese mainstream and the American mainstream. The average American fanboy would be appalled by this, but in Japan, this is common practice to push sales by showing/packaging "Moe" characters with their toys, and i'm not the least bit surprised by the Asterix line and now, the KISS line even.

The problem is the artist they hired for this project, Yuki Oshima, is well-known for his underage/lolicon art, and they more or less let him do as he wishes (so long as it wasn't actual pornography).

Japan should keep its disgusting sexual deviancies out of my Transformers. Takara can't do ANYTHING right with Transformers. Just let the US make the show, import it, dub it (without dumbing it down as they did with Beast Wars and Beast Machines) and watch the money roll in.

I did actually find several Japanese blogs and stuff in which the Japanese fans felt "betrayed" by the new SS design (in particular the hip things), saying it should've been THS Starscream if they were gonna change it so much. And as FFN said, they are buying Alts over these... things.

I think they are actually trying to move the transformers line up to the adult market. Transformers in Japan is on par with Pokemon and Naruto as prime time kiddy stuff (thus the kiddy storylines? )...so by including loli characters, they wanna market transformers to the otaku crowd which is obviously the bigger market.

Of course it alienates the old fans....but as a business decision, it might be wise. Shrug.

But the thing is, Takara themselves were responsible for dumbing down Transformers so significantly in the first place. TF usually does well over there where Takara preserves the US influences and takes a less heavy-handed approach when dubbing the cartoons. Its when they try to make Transformers a generic japanese Super Robot Hero series that problems set in and interest goes away.

As for Binaltech, its difficulties stemmed from the fact it was expensive, even by Japanese standards - it was an expensive collector line that had very frequent releases. Takara admitted that Japanese collectors preferred Alternators because they were more durable and more playable (no paint chips and such). Importing Alternators from Asia is cheaper than buying BTs locally.

Kiss Play is a variation upon the failed Binaltech Asterisk line, but is NOT die-cast metal but is even MORE expensive. That can't be a good business decision.

Takara is merely aping other japanese toy companies - making a mad dash to grab any and every well-known japanese designer and artist, regardless of their forte. In this case, its a guy who does lolicon ecchi, and its being sold as such. Transformers is far in the back of Takara's mind when they were doing this.

On a slightly unrelated topic...

i picked up the diecast Prime and Megatron. Overall they arent bad.

They could be better. I got them at the Target near home. $15 each. So i'm not complaining too much.

I had to wrestle them out of the package.

One thing i dont like about Prime is his detachable arms.

They come off if your not careful

On Megatron his legs dont stay in place when in bot mode.

they're ok if you dont expect alot of posing out of them.

They're mostly die cast the connectors for the arms and legs are plastic.

if you havent seen them they arent very tall.

they're about as tall as the Mazinger Z Chogokin figure.

On the Plus side they aren't expensive and they feel very sturdy.

The wheels on Prime rotate and he comes with a stand.

Megatron is cool but he's a tank still a weapon (not a gun )

I like them I wouldnt get bunch of them but I like them.

Picked up Primus today. Pretty small in comparison to Unicron, but he transforms into an even smaller Cybertron. But still dead cool. Even comes with a severed Unicron head.
