  1. vf-4 lightning from wave announced! From tochiro's tweet.. https://twitter.com/GwynCampbell/status/738699473027637248
  2. Happy Holidays: I've been working on creating a list of every single Macross kit in all scales (1/144, 1/100, 1/72, 1/48, etc) and materials (plastic, resin, vinyl, etc). The last (2) years were spent compiling links to every website/thread containing information/pictures about Macross kits. Anyone interested in assisting, please let me know. The ultimate goal will be to update the MW Model Section. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/10945-macross-172-scale-complete-list/ * If you have a list of your Macross model collection please send it to me via MW messenger to see if there's anything missing. (Shawn, Chad, Carl, etc.) * If you own more than (10) kits or have any rare ones but no list, please consider to take a picture and send it me or create a list yourself. * If you have any background information about the origins of rare manufactures (Experten, I.H.P., Liquid Stone, D-Stance, etc.) please contact me or post in the thread. First off, I need feedback on the numbering system for the following kits. If you own any of these kits that have numbers on the side, please help me fill in the blanks. These pictures are from my personal collection. (Please be specific what you're referring to, or pictures will be awesome.) 1.) Arii 1/100 HEWAT Model Collection Question: Does anything come after #10, or other numbered Arii collections you know of? 2.) Arii 1/100 Silver Box Model Collection (I'm only missing #102 VF-1J Hikaru if anyone can help.) Question: Does anything come before #78, after #112, or between #84 and #98? 3.) Bandai 1/100 Model Collection The VF-1S, VF-1D, and VF-1J Max each have two different box art available. (Picture forthcoming) Question: How many releases were there? (Original, 15th Anniversary, and 30th Anniversary) Question: Which release had numbers on the side? (Original most likely) Question: What's the missing numbers? 4.) Imai 1/72 Model Collection Question: What's the missing numbers? (Very strange numbering system, they jump around a lot..before, after and in between unknown.) 5.) Hasegawa 1/72 and 1/48 Model Collection Question: They use a numbering system, anyone have a large collection that could provide a picture with them in order? 6.) Bandai 1/72 Model Collection Question: Did the original variable kits use a numbering system for the 1st release like the Bandai 1/100 1st release did? Question: How many releases were there? (Original, 15th Anniversary, and 30th Anniversary) Will update as we go, Christopher
  3. There's a local modeling competition in less than 3 weeks. Suddenly felt the need to enter into the scifi portion of the competition. Last year a friend of mine entered with a very basic HG gunpla kit he did in candy colors. I think I can top that! My idea is to use this wave 1/100 VF-1A I got from a convention a couple years ago and turn it into some kind of a low-viz scheme with some kind of a Macross First twist like Hikaru's VF-1J, not so crazy though. But I also thought I saw someone did a custom job on their take of the brownie but I can't find it anywhere. I'd like too if possible try to even replicate that. I may even go as far as to customize my own decals since I'm a bit of a graphic designer and we got excellent printers so long as I'm not doing white. Any suggestions you guys got to help make this kit stand out would be appreciative as I'd like to take home my first trophy. Couple things I'm curious over are seamline removal since there's 4 locations I'd like to fix in the nosecone and fuselage and than the underbelly at the knees up to the thighs. Also how to properly paint the canopy if there are good easy to follow tutorials. Some of the ones I found on youtube seem to have some really bad dislikes for some reason.
  4. Not sure if this has been discussed somewhere but found a tweet from jp modellers abt a HWR- monster kit from wave... Just posting in case anyone can translate the description in the pic. I have no idea if this is new or old.
  5. Hi, All, I had an old wave resin kit recently painted by a highly professional kit builder, Dave Tarron (UK based). He does excellent work, is very responsive, and exemplifies professionalism. If you're interested in his work or would like to have something commissioned, you should check him out. You can check out some of his work here: http://rageofachilles.deviantart.com/ PM me if you are interested in contacting Dave Tarron. Kind regards, Tom
  6. Hi guys, I have a question about the VF-0S Model WAVE made a few years back. I was just thinking, Since I have never made a wave kit, Does it have a separate Fighter mode like the VF-1's have? I've seen pictures of the VF-1's having a Fighter mode and they can be combined with the Battroid kit to form Gerwalk mode. Or is the kit just in Battroid? I've had my mind set on getting WAVE's 1/100 Hikaru's VF-1S Strike, but I first want to try their VF-0S. This will be my FIRST WAVE kit and I just wondered if it had a Fighter kit sold separately, And how hard WAVE kits are (I believe they are super hard, in my opinion to see that THEY ARE MOLDED IN MOSTLY WHITE AND GREY!) So if you guys know if there is a Fighter mode of it I would appreciate it.
  7. Finished my Wave 1/100 scale VF-1S! This was a relatively quick build (for me). About 2 months from start to finish. The buildup of this kit is relatively easy. It’s mostly snap-fit. Some parts do require glue however. The fit is decent but not quite to the level of Bandai gunpla precision. I would suggest that in some areas, the snap-fit pins should be cut off entirely and instead the parts be glued together. I did not do this and thus some areas on my build got a bit gappy. Made a slight change to the main landing gear covers. I’m a leg man and I wanted the main landing gear legs to show. The main color is Model Master Light Gray (FS36495) enamel that was brush painted on. Tamiya Gunmetal (TS-38) was used for the foot thrusters. Tamiya TS-6 for the black part on the tailfins, the gun, and parts of the wing stripe. I had problems with the decals. I don’t know why but they were constantly cracking or breaking apart while I was adjusting the placement. I then learned that Gunze’s Topcoat doesn’t quite seal the decals like Tamiya’s TS-80. The decals were flaking off on my fingers! I found out that the best way to deal with this was to apply a thin coating of Topcoat to the decal, then apply Microset, then apply another coat of Topcoat. I pretty much had to paint much of the black wing stripes after they crumbled off. I was real lucky that the UN Spacy kite survived. Also, some of the decals like those for the tailfins and ventral fins were poor fitting. They just didn’t line up at all. I made a mess out of the ventral fins. After that, I decided to simply paint the tailfins. That all said, I like the details and the sculpt is excellent. It’s a modern kit and definitely several steps above the old 1/100 Arii. Save for the decals, it’s a relatively easy kit to complete. The scale goes great with Gundams and other sci-fi mecha models. And now for some pics. I hope I'm not posting too many. Next to the old Arii kit that I built several years ago
  8. The wait is finally over! (for those of you who were waiting)
  9. Here's my latest build; the Tomahawk Destroid from Wave. Fun kit to build. Went together fast and easy, with minimal seams to putty and sand. I was going for a Vietnam War era tiger stripe cammo scheme. Don't think I quite got that, but I've very happy with what I did get. a few more pics can been seen here
