  6. Syfy's KRYPTON. Premieres on March 21, 2018. Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy). Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) will serve as executive producer and showrunner. CAMERON CUFFE / Seg-El The Man of Steel’s grandfather, Seg brings hope and equality to the planet of Krypton, turning a world in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest superhero ever known. Revealing a chapter of the DC Universe that has rarely been explored, KRYPTON, is set 200 years before the Superman legend we know. SHAUN SIPOS / Adam Strange A world-weary, time-travelling human, Adam Strange finds himself stranded on Krypton as the unlikely mentor to Seg-El. Adam will stop at nothing to ensure that the greatest hero who ever lived actually exists. http://www.syfy.com/krypto
  7. Super Power Beat Down is an online series produced by Bat in the Sun Productions (the company behind the acclaimed Batman fan films City of Scars and Seeds of Arkham) and featured on Machinima. It features one-on-one matches between icons of comic books, movies and video games, as portrayed by cosplayers. Those of you who follow the MW Automotive Thread may already be familiar with this show, as episode 1 featured the Batmobile drag race. Here's the list of episodes:

  9. The Death of "Superman Lives": What Happened? is a documentary written and directed by Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse). It gives an in-depth look at Superman Lives, an aborted attempt at bringing Superman back to the big screen in the mid-1990s by producer Jon Peters (Batman, Superman Returns) and director Tim Burton (Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice), with Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider, Castor Troy in Face/Off) in the title role. Right from the get-go, the project was rife with problems - majority of which were caused by Peters' outlandish depictions of Superman and Brainiac. And right when Nicolas Cage had just finished a few costume tests, Warner Bros. pulled the plug on the film. While Peters' idea of having Brainiac as a robotic spider never materialized, it was recycled in the 1999 bomb Wild Wild West. People involved in Superman Lives such as Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) and Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) have moved on to more successful projects. So for those who were utterly disappointed by Superman Returns and Man of Steel, it could've been worse. Here's Chris Stuckmann's review of the documentary: And here are pics of the costumes that Cage tested: Official Site EDIT: Schnepp, the goddamn troll...

Joe) as Superman, Jason O'Mara (Wesker in Resident Evil: Extinction, Sam Tyler in Life on Mars) as Batman, Justin Kirk (Andy in Weeds) as Green Lantern, Michelle Monaghan (Julia in Mission: Impossible III and Ghost Protocol) as Wonder Woman, Christopher Gorham (Henry in Ugly Betty) as The Flash, Shemar Moore (Derek in Criminal Minds) as Cyborg, Sean Astin (Samwise in The Lord of the Rings, Mikey in The Goonies) as Shazam, and Steven Blum (Marj in Macross Plus, Major Nexx in Macross II) as Darkseid.
  12. We'll be presenting our Macross: Mythology & Physics panel at Tekkoshocon X-2 in Pittsburgh this April. The schedule has not been released but it will likely be on Sunday. We will discuss Macross/Robotech connections to ancient & pop mythology and toss in a healthy dose of physics from quarks to m-theory. We're hoping to welcome a guest appearance from Sheryl & Ranka cosplayers for a live performance, it depends on when we get scheduled. http://www.tekkoshocon.com/
  13. The 1940s Superman series by Max Fleischer will always be the best Superman cartoon ever made (sorry, but Bruce Timm's version can't hold a candle to it), but this new fan-made animation comes very close. It even features the voice of John Haymes Newton (from season 1 of the 1980s Superboy TV series) as Clark Kent. Robb Pratt's Official Site
