  1. Yamato/Arcadia Kits

so I've seen Yamato VF-1 and Arcadia VF-0 Armour kits... they seem to be a cheaper alternative to buying a finished version, and allow for customization more readily, but I have several questions: Are these resin or plastic? how do the joints hold up vs actual finished products? and most importantly: are they going to kit the 1/3000 SDF-1, and if so where do I lurk to get my hands on one?
  2. Not supporting this...but if this is prevalent with the Transformers/Gundam market it was only a matter of time. http://m.intl.taobao.com/search/search.html?q=macross KO
  3. I don't write too often here, but this is directly linked to how often I get the opportunity to review Macross-related toys. I'm happy I managed to do something about this few days ago and created my video review of the GN-U Dou action figure line by Yamato, this time the VF-11B Thunderbolt. I hope you like this recording of mine
  4. Are you new to the world of Macross toy collecting or have a question that doesn't necessarily need a thread of it's own? Post it here and our resident Macross toy specialists will reply to you. Old thread: http://www.macrosswo...opic=11308&st=0 The initial one had answers that were so outdated, that first post is actually very funny. I'm going to try to dig thru that thread and link all relevant questions and answers here on the first post. First off... here's peolesdru's homepage at youtube which contains a lot of excellent transformation sequences you need for Macross Toys. http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=29393 Macrossworld's home page link to the toy section, for up to date stuff, you have to look thru the forums but the resource here is very invaluable: http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=28836 This is one of a few non discussion threads on MW, any comments not containing a scoop gets deleted after a few hours. LOCKED THREAD, PLEASE SEE FRONT PAGE FOR NEW SCOOPS CollectionDX's video reviews, search Macross for relevancy or find other toys there: http://www.macross2....ross-index.html MW = Macrossworld Valkyrie or "valks" = nickname for the transfoming jets most specifically used for the VF-1 but is an accepted term for any of its later successors (and the VF-0). CF = "Cannon Fodder"= refers to the brownie VFs that constantly get blown up in many episodes. FP = "Fast Packs" = external armor mounted on valkyrie, usually is exclusive to non atmospheric use. Fold Booster = additional equipment used by valkyries to jump from one space to another. Joke Machine = Bandai's Super Deformed versions of the Valkyrie HCM = High Complete Model, Bandai's original 1/72 version of the valkyries The Macross = The SDF-1 yammie = Nickname for Yamato Toys, most specifically a Yamato valkyrie chunky monkey = Nickname for the original Bandai/Takatoku 1/55 scale valkyrie what is a Joons? A popular bootleg version of the 1/55 what does GBP stand for? Grenade Box Protector, the heavily armored version of the VF-1 what's the difference between a super pack and a strike pack? The strike pack has a cannon attached to the right booster of the Fast Packs and was never seen in the TV series. What are TV hands? TV hands are the rounded version of the VF-1's hands, seen on the TV series and not in the movie (DYRL?) Also known as Mickey hands. What is DYRL?? Refers to the movie version Macross: Do You Remember Love? in which you see different versions of the valk flown by our heroes. There are also different versions of other mechas such as The Macross, The Quadleunn Rau and the Nousjadeul-Ger. Does Yamato or Bandai or any other Japanese manufacturers cater macross products to the US market? NO. Only japan. They WANTED to cater to us, but legality problems with Harmony Gold prevented them from doing so. Reference the HG debates thread for more info in the "other and science fiction" section. However OTHER non macross products from yamato are readily available in the USA. refer to this thread: http://www.macrosswo...p?showtopic=153 Do they offer parts for repairs? Still No... same reasons Why can't I find any news on the Alpha Fighter here? The Alpha Fighter was seen in the American series called Robotech, and was derived from Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada (which is where you will see the Legioss (Alpha Fighter) and Robotech is considered an off topic subject as this is a Macross forum. refer to this thread: http://www.macrosswo...p?showtopic=228
  5. Favourite Valks For Each Mode

Just wanted to see what everyone's preferred Valks are for each of the three modes. I'll start: Fighter: YF-30 Chronos Gerwalk: Super VF-25G Battroid: VF-31C
  6. This weekend I started applying those VF-1 waterslide decals that I bought from eBay weeks ago. I also tested my Airbrush set which I bought 4 years ago from Amazon. And to be honest, this is the first time I airbrush. I tested the airbrush for topcoating and so far I really like the outcome from the scrap kits that I have. Anyways, I noticed that the graphics on the waterslide decals that I'm using is somehow thicker than the one supplied by Arcadia on their stand-alone 1/60 VF-1S Hikaru release (12/2013), the one that came with a stand. But I still decided to use that one since I'm also going to apply the waterslide decals that I purchased for the VF-0S too. Just to make it consistent. Besides, there's none that came with the VF-0S. So that's fine for me. I'm also planning on adding some panel lines into it once the Flory Models washes arrives. So hopefully, I'll try my best to update this thread once I finish applying decals parts by parts. Note: Mods, sorry if I put this in the wrong section. But since it's just applying decals on a toy, I thought it's just safe to put it here. But feel free to move it to the proper section if ever. Thanks! So, without further ado, here it is. Here's the finished legs from this weekend (7/23/17). And to be honest, applying decals on these two legs already took me 2 hours.

  8. Yamato 1/60 VF-19S/F/P - All Variants

It's confirmed at Wonderfest Summer 2011. Yamato is planning 1/60 scale VF-19S, VF-19F and VF-19P for production. Let's share ideas and news about new variants here. VF-19S and VF-19F (with new head sculpt) VF-19P in fighter mode Differences between VF-19Kai and VF-19P VF-19P's nosecone has little diamond shaped parts. Also notice the different parts for the sides of the legs. Larger image of VF-19P
  9. Hey everyone! Just wanted people who don't frequent the Building/Customizing Macross Models & Toys section of the forums to be aware that slowly but surely - items I've made and produced from Shapeways.com are becoming available to you. This started initially as my own custom pieces meant just for me - but as the items grew in ambition and complexity, I thought it a waste if no one else got the chance to have these in their collection. As mentioned above they came about in 2 of my own threads customizing a Queadluun Rau and a VF-11C; http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=35459 & http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=36209 - shapeways pieces and WIP at the end of the threads. Currently I've finished 99% of my DYRL to TV Queadluun Rau conversion pieces - with only a new hip/waist articulation to go and have finished wing-clip attachments for VF-11s to allow attachments of any current 1/60 missiles and the freshly made HMMs. I have also completed a 1/60 Queadluun Rhea Impact Cannon and pieces to attach to a Q.Rau and for a VF-25 to use as a rifle. More items will become available as I get them and inspect them personally for detail fidelity and material properties to ensure the best product possible. They are available here; http://www.shapeways.com/shops/RPG Without giving too much away - expect much more love for the VF-11, VF-0 and Zentran Mecha. I am open to suggestions or requests - but they're subject to my work load. I will update this thread when items become available. I will continue the above custom threads with the build-ups and eventual completions in their respective threads. Peace! EDIT: Trying to add a poll!
  10. Yamato 1/60 Fan Racer Resin Cast Finished

Hi guys, I just finished my resin copy of the model kit of yamato fan racer 1/60. I share the finished work images. To show it, i adapt a connector of the bandai act 5 stage to be able to use it. I have a lot of work with the molds but I am very happy with the result. I copy the original kit of yamato that was bought by a friend on ebay for 200 dollars, very expensive for me. Regards!
  11. Wasn't sure if I ought to start a new thread or put this in here: Variable Motorcycles Thread Anyway, here is the info so far on the upcoming transforming Garland toy by Yamato: * 1/15 scale * Release is scheduled for June * Price will be 17,640 * Transformation will involve magnets * A gun and poseable Shogo rider figure will be included * It's damn cool. My sources are mainly the internet and the 1/60 VF-0S thread in the toy section, I have just put it all in one thread. However, I must say that I have read conflicting information elsewhere that the price would be 16,800 and will arrive in May... But I may have been hallucinating. Here are some pics from other threads (I'm re-attaching them 'cos I dunno how to just display them from the other thread, it tells me some crap about dynamic thingymajigs), plus some which I added just for comparison:
  12. Hi all, I'm kinda new here. I was telling a friend of mine that I've been hunting for a Yamato 1/60 Perf Trans VF-11C without luck and he recommended that I try my luck on here. If anyone is willing to part with theirs/or know where I can get one, I would really appreciate it! I've got a DX Chogokin YF-30 Chronos and a 1/60 Yamato Perf Trans Super Ostrich to trade if anyone is interested in them as well.
  13. New thread since the old thread has been retired. http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=35038 Nothing really new but here's another photo of the poster shown at WF2012 advertising the 17D. Earlier pics of the 1/60 VF-17D made the stripes look white but they look to have a slight tinge of blue in this photo.
  14. Hi all, my original thread of the 1/2000 SDF-1 was originally posted in the "toy" forum, but since all the 1/3000 SDF-1 mod are posted here, I may as well do so. Also, I am hoping that this thread will be pinned, so that my SDF-1 customization can have a home. For the original thread on the built up, modification, and reference on the "1/2000 SDF-1 Customized", here is the link: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=33243&st=0 For the 1/3000 SDF-1, I must admit, I haven't spend nearly as much time on it as the 1/2000 SDF-1. The 1/3000 SDF-1 was only lightly lined and weathered, but you will see, this toy has lots of potential! Hopefully the comparison will be another useful reference. For those who have seen the old thread, these are all new pictures (taken with my new camera), and it seems to pick up the details better. I have divided up the sections as such: 1.) 1/3000 SDF-1 - Crusier mode 2.) 1/2000 SDF-1 - Crusier mode 3.) 1/3000 vs 1/2000 SDF-1 - Crusier mode Comparison 4.) 1/3000 SDF-1 - Attacker mode 5.) 1/2000 SDF-1 - Attacker mode 6.) 1/3000 vs 1/2000 SDF-1 - Attacker mode Comparison Here are the sections, enjoy! 1.) 1/3000 SDF-1 - Crusier mode
  15. Yamato 2199

I don't remember hearing anything about this before. There is a little blurb on the website, and the trailer it links to is interesting. I like Yuki's new design, not so much so for Kodai and Shima though. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2011-11-11/yamato-2199-anime-remake-film-teaser-streamed
  16. Hi everyone. I just wanted to start a proper thread for this. I put up adapters for Gundam stands that can hold up Yamato valks. Here's some images that CoreyD posted on http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=37622'>his thread. Heres' the link for them: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/exodigital'>http://www.shapeways...hops/exodigital And here's the HLJ link to the stands: http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?Word=gundam+stands&DisplayMode=images&Dis=2&Sort=std&qid=IHYE32P2QUVS4Q&set=1&q=1&MacroType2=displaybse'>http://www.hlj.com/s...ype2=displaybse It's an inexpensive solution for your display needs. Thanks! I've uploaded the adapters that removes the need for the hinge. It makes for a more sturdier stand and can actually hold a 1/48 with Fast Packs. I had to create ones with angles that bank because removing the hinge means less pose-ability There should be enough variety to suit your needs. I've also renamed the product so the number of different ones won't be confusing. B2Y - Bandai to Yamato B2Y classic - the original ones that people have been purchasing that goes on the hinged part of the stand. Allows more pose-ability but won't hold heavier valks B2Y unhinged - comes in three varieties: level, Starboard (banking) and Port (banking) I've also bundled them up in different sorts for price breaks.
  17. VF-11c

Hi guys, Anyone who owns this since 2010, how is it holding up? For a brand new one i would have to spend serious money so i'm hoping someone can deter me... :-P. Is the skull white plastic prone to yellowing? PS. I never wanted a VF-11c until i realized it was going to be even harder now getting one = macross collector's logic! D
  18. Yamato 1/48 VF-1S Hikaro Strike Help

Hello, long time lurker here. Several years ago, I purchased the Yamato 1/48 VF-1S with a set of super/strike parts. During that time I assembled everything togther and the jet booster back would not stay up in battroid mode. Eventually I just put it back in the box and forgot about it, was somewhat dissapointed overall. Now years later, and after reading some threads here, I was interested if anyone has any tips on getting the battroid mode to work with the jet booster packs? I've read some threads saying there were some flaws with the early 1/48 releases, or that maybe the transformation was done wrong. Also, I saw in the strike pars manual an addtional piece that could be used around the neck area, that was not in the box, but not clear what it was for (see pics). http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?app=gallery&album=807 Also, was the head of the 1/48 Valk supposed to be so loose?
  19. From the front page -- http://www.macrossworld.com/why-are-arcadia-products-so-expensive-by-mr-k/ I put up the translation just now, but it's for some reason the fourth entry down and you have to scroll past a lot of stuff, so unfortunately it might not get seen by many.
  20. After getting used to this great toy for a couple of days, I decided to take it apart/detail it up/paint it and put it back to make my "true dream toy". This will be another slow but constant progress (meaning updated weekly) Thanks to vf-1s's scan, I first got the legs all disassembled and laid out the parts nicely for better paint job later. Thank God, I didn't break any parts yet. Some small parts were lightly glued at the factory, but most of them came off easily. If you don't have right tools, I wouldn't recommend doing this. Next step would be disassembling body and main cannon. Legs disassembled and laid out nicely. labeled them with marker for later assembly. Tools I used to do this so far. Some of Photo Etched parts I'm planning to use for detailing up Give me back my Pants!!
  21. Sunwards Valkyries

I'm sure older members here remember the Sunwards fiasco. It was basically Yamato's attempt in the early 2000s to circumvent Harmony Gold and try to get their 1/72 VF-1 product out there without using either Macross or Robotech branding. As an interesting comparison, Bandai did just that in the early 1990s with their European version of the 1/55 Super Valkyrie reissue, with no problems. I'm looking for any archived data on Sunwards, who was in charge, if anyone has their website saved, or even an image of the ad they took out in ToyFare, etc. Thei website is long gone and doesn't appear to be saved anywhere, and I cannot find any images, either. Most of the photos they used in their PR material are the stock Yamato photos anyway, but the phrasing they used to promote the toys I recall was very interesting.
  22. big lot collection by godgirai

hello dear collector today i will share my collection who took 22 years to compose enjoy
  23. Again, Hollywood proves to everyone that they have no ideas left YAMATO live action film!?!?!? I've got a bad feeling about this.
  24. VF-11 Proportions

Hello everybody, This is my first thread, but I have a question that I feel only my fellow Macross fans could help to answer. I am an amateur 3D artist and as a hobby, I enjoy modeling Valkyries. I just started a new model of a VF-11 Thunderbolt. I want to make it as close to the line art as possible while still being able to transform it from fighter to battroid. For reference, I have Yamato's VF-11B and Hasegawa's injection kits. They look good and will work great, but I noticed when I started measuring them that the proportions don't match the specs given in all the documentation of the VF-11 series. Macross Chronicle and the Macross Mecha Manual say the VF-11 is 15.51 meters long with a wingspan of 11.2 meters. When I measure the artwork from the Hasegawa instruction sheet and scale it up (assuming a length of 15.51 meters), I get a wingspan of 14.37 meters. The Macross Mecha Manual line art gave me a wingspan of 13.23 meters. I have yet to measure the Yamato toy, but just eyeballing it, I can tell it has an incredibly wide wingspan. So my questions are: 1) Is the Macross Chronicle wingspan correct, or is it a known inaccuracy? 2) If it is correct, is it with the wings fully extended? 3) Is there an accurate portrayal of 15.51 x 11.2 dimensions anywhere, either in a kit, toy, or line art? 4) Did Yamato and Hasegawa make the wings too wide, or did they shorten the body? 5) Should I just ignore the specs and go with the Yamato or Hasegawa proportions? 6) Can anyone recommend an alternate resource for VF-11 schematics? My temptation is to go with the Yamato, since it compromises nicely for transformation, while maybe scaling down the width of the wings closer to the line art. Thoughts?
