  1. First of all, this is not mine. I’m not sure if he’s a member of MWF. I just stumbled on his channel while looking for some YF-19 videos. It looks like his WIP project is based on the Bandai DX YF-19 figure. What scale, I’m not sure but it’s bigger than the DX Figure. https://www.youtube.com/user/BigBoPete Here’s his latest WIP video:
  2. Following my ramblings and last post in the Vf-19 advance vs arcadia yf-19 thread as quoted above, I have started learning sketchup in order to attempt to make my own version of the YF-19... I'm starting this thread to document what may hopefully be the start of a long process... Why am I doing this? - I started rambling about the how both bandai and arcadia fell just short of producing what is to my mind, the perfect representation of the yf-19, and it seemed a wasted opportunity. - This got me thinking about what I would do differently, from minor tweaks to fundamental changes in the conception of the transformation process. - I finally had a mental construct of my own preferred version of the yf-19 and it nagged me to the extent that I thought I might do something about it. - Of course the most important underlying impetus was the fact that the yf-19 is the mostest awesomest Kawamori design ever.... Why Papercraft? - I have access to a basic 3D printer, but this project is mostly an exploration and a statement of intent / proof of concept than a final product... - I can get to continue to tweak and tinker with the model as I go along more easily with paper than 3D printed plastic, I can even make a VF-19A version eventually... - It's easier to accomplish - It's cheaper - I know nuts about 3D printing What main differences will my yf-19 feature? - Less steps involved for transformation, elimination of extraneous ones like the swinging hip joints, knee extension for arcadia, sliding leg covers for bandai etc - Eliminating add-ons like neck covers, rear thigh infills for arcadia - Transformation to include 2 rotating seats - Improved (hopefully) articulation of upper torso especially with the gullet piece - Moderated expression of the Battroid's look, 80% arcadia chunkiness 20% bandai athleticism. Ok, I realise I'm probably not going to achieve most of what I set out to do if anything at all, but it's at least a start...
  3. LoThis was a project of sleepless nights and still there is some frustration as I could not make it hold its own weight in gerwalk.
  4. Hi folks, first time post here, though I've been an on-and-off lurker for a while.. I just recently completed a mod of the fold booster that comes with the DX Chogokin YF-19 Full Set Pack, and figured I'd post some pics to see what you guys think. I used a 840 mAh 14500 LI-Ion cell, 4x 3mm LEDs, 2 red and 2 green, each with a 100 ohm resister, all wired in parallel so as to be powered by the 3.7v source. The inside of the booster needed significant modifications, going so far as to literally cut some parts completely out to make room for the battery. The wiring is certainly not the best, as this really my first project with wiring up something from scratch. I also didn't have anything to cannibalize terminals from, so I made due with what I had, which wasn't much, unfortunately, but it can be fixed later down the line if I feel like it, I suppose.. Anyway, here we go Inside the booster... Outside, showing LEDs lit, with no clear parts attached.. Partially assembled, showing the switch location beneath one of the panels.. Fully assembled.. Mounted on the Valkyrie
  5. Mine is definitely VF-25, especially Ozuma's Armored VF-25, closely followed by YF-19 (though the picture is that of my VF-19) It cost me some pretty pennies to get the VF-25 renewal+their armor/super packs, but I don't regret the purchase haha.
  6. Hey everyone! Just wanted people who don't frequent the Building/Customizing Macross Models & Toys section of the forums to be aware that slowly but surely - items I've made and produced from Shapeways.com are becoming available to you. This started initially as my own custom pieces meant just for me - but as the items grew in ambition and complexity, I thought it a waste if no one else got the chance to have these in their collection. As mentioned above they came about in 2 of my own threads customizing a Queadluun Rau and a VF-11C; http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=35459 & http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=36209 - shapeways pieces and WIP at the end of the threads. Currently I've finished 99% of my DYRL to TV Queadluun Rau conversion pieces - with only a new hip/waist articulation to go and have finished wing-clip attachments for VF-11s to allow attachments of any current 1/60 missiles and the freshly made HMMs. I have also completed a 1/60 Queadluun Rhea Impact Cannon and pieces to attach to a Q.Rau and for a VF-25 to use as a rifle. More items will become available as I get them and inspect them personally for detail fidelity and material properties to ensure the best product possible. They are available here; http://www.shapeways.com/shops/RPG Without giving too much away - expect much more love for the VF-11, VF-0 and Zentran Mecha. I am open to suggestions or requests - but they're subject to my work load. I will update this thread when items become available. I will continue the above custom threads with the build-ups and eventual completions in their respective threads. Peace! EDIT: Trying to add a poll!
  7. I am trying to do a collection of these celshade eggplanes, this is my take on the YF-19, it is a shame that there is no YF-21

  10. This is all told with plenty of detail in my blog: https://eosmusashi.wordpress.com/the-yf-19-project/ so feel free to check it out! I'll try posting the WIP from the beginning here and share the steps I've taken to make my favorite mecha plane LATEST UPDATE:
  11. I have been a member for I believe over 10 years. I don't post much, but this I believe is a worthy and noble cause. Jasmine Models is running low on Stock for these Photo Etched parts. Seems like Macross World might be the best source for JM in regards to repeat customers. Thus I would like to petition the reissue of the following items (most importantly parts for VF in 1/72 and 1/48 scale) Because this is probably the only way that Newca will seriously consider making another batch, if you read this please reply and add your Name to the list and how many you are REALISTICALLY interested in. (see below) I am definitely interested! 12. Recently I have one of the members here introducing me to legos and then I branched into nanoblock due to the costs and space required, any way I wanted to share my work and take any suggestions for new models. Also I would like to know if there are other people in this fandom
  13. Hey all, Long time lurker, etc. etc. I've been inspired by chaff.g's 1/48 build and decided, for my big summer project, to customize a Hasegawa 1/48 YF-19 with both photo-etched parts and LEDs. I've never put LEDs into a model before, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction or assist me with translating pages 063 and 113 of the Variable Fighter Master File - VF Modeling Manual. While page 113 is specifically for the YF-19, I'd like to have page 063 as well just as a reference. I apologize if this is the wrong forum to ask. If anyone has any tips or tricks to share about installing LEDs into a Hasegawa model, I'd really appreciate them.

  16. Hey everyone! As some of you have already seen on the Arcadia YF-19 thread and my general custom release thread - I've finally gotten my rendition of the YF-19's arm weapon from Shapeways; I'm going to use this thread to document the process of getting a 3D print up to spec, start to finish. I have a long weekend and hope to get it done between hanging with the family (4yo son and pregnant wife!) and lounging about /packing the house for a move over the next few days. Feel free to ask any questions regarding ordering or preparing the print. First off (after initial fitting of parts and testing on Alpha-One ) I separate all the parts and soak them in a not-quite-hot-but-not-warm tub of water with regular washing detergent. I then scrub each piece (carefully) with a toothbrush and then put in a second bath of just-hot-water (don't want to warp the plastic) and then scrub again and rinse in some more warm water - shake them off and take outside to dry in the sun for a good few hours, turning them all the while so each surface gets a decent amount of exposure; I then use a primer (Mr.Surfacer if u can get it or Tamiya works well too) and lightly coat all surfaces and let dry for about 4 hours - again, turning so each surface gets a good dose. Now you can clearly see the print lines - they look severe here cause I used the macro setting on my camera, but to the naked eye, it appears much smoother. Still, it will require sanding. I've now sanded the pieces as best I can given the awkward angles (no photos yet! tomorrow ) using Tamiya Finishing Abrasives P320 grain - using the P2000 did little, so not worth using it. I can now see where the primer has filled in the print line grooves. Will update with new photos of the sanded (will also brush with a dry toothbrush to get rid of the sanded primer and plastic and also pick out debris from details with a pin-needle or hobby blade) pieces and next round of primer and/or base colours - as well as what Tamiya colours I use. And a couple more pics for the lulz;

  19. Here is my latest completed work. Hasegawa's 1/72 VF-11B Thunderbolt from Macross Plus. Cockpit Detail: And with this kit finished, I have finally completed my Macross Plus collection!
  20. Back when the VF-1 shoulder replacements were announced, a lot of people asked if the YF-19 would be next. I tried tackling the tricky fuselage hinge part and have got something that is ready to be tested. If this works, I will make it available on my shapeways shop so you guys don't have to say how many you want. Neither of my YF-19s ever had a breakage so I had perfectly fine parts to work backwards from. My replacement doesn't match the original exactly because the stock part is designed to save on plastic as much as possible. My part will be done in White Strong Flexible so it should be plenty sturdy. I'll update this thread when I get the prototype in for testing on a YF-19.
