There's a local modeling competition in less than 3 weeks. Suddenly felt the need to enter into the scifi portion of the competition. Last year a friend of mine entered with a very basic HG gunpla kit he did in candy colors. I think I can top that! My idea is to use this wave 1/100 VF-1A I got from a convention a couple years ago and turn it into some kind of a low-viz scheme with some kind of a Macross First twist like Hikaru's VF-1J, not so crazy though. But I also thought I saw someone did a custom job on their take of the brownie but I can't find it anywhere. I'd like too if possible tr

I don't think that this thread already exists, so here we go. (if it does exist, let me know) One simple rule. ROBOTECH is off limits. Just trying to save Azrael some time. You can slag off at a whole franchise, one branch of it or even just one season. So lets slaughter the sacred cows. A few dishonourable mentions first. GALACTICA 1980 - Words can't describe how bad this was. At least we knew that they weren't wasting any money on it. (Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep) For a good read about how shabby the effort was, check out this wiki. EARTH 2 - One of the worst examples of poor SF from th

Well, with the release date for this film less than two years away, I have to assume that they must be pretty advanced in the planning stages at least. Love Nolans work, hope it's fun. Here is the news. The plot is, as it says, will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1300298569/under-the-dog As of an hour ago, Under the Dog met its goal! I guess this should have its own thread now, eh? I'm excited about the turn around. Last week was looking iffy, but I have to hand it to this team, they did not falter. And their core ideas seem to be resonating with the anime community now in the final hours. Everything raised from this point until Sunday will be a sweet bonus.

Based upon a lot of positive word of mouth, I decided to watch the new film Chronicle. If you've heard little about this movie (or have just seen only the trailer), I can say this is easily one of the best "super hero" films I've seen in years. Some basic info about the film can be found in the wiki link below (though don't read the details if you don't want to be spoiled): http://en.wikipedia....icle_(film) I will say just labelling this movie as a "super hero" tale - while descriptive as a sound bite - does the film a terrible diservice. Chronicle is so much more than that: in fact, i

Starring Scarlett Johansson as an alien life form that travels through Scotland to seduce random men and then kill them. Don't know if this even sees a wide release, but the trailer evokes some nice Lynch/Asian Horror Cinema moments.

Helix on IMDb. Didn't find using Search. The premier is this Friday, the 10th at 10 pm EST. Here's a 15 minute preview; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=CviEeDRBr6w Looks interesting enough, is anyone else going to watch? -b.

Ok someone watched Alien & Prometheus and then went to Mars with a slightly lower budget... The Hardware looks good, though. But the trailer already has more worn tropes than you can shake a flamethrower at.

Hi, I’m not sure if this counts as spam, but I’m a well-known novelist. I’d like to show people my latest book: http://www.amazon.com/The-0th-Dimension-ebook/dp/B00AFX3N56/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354348417&sr=8-1&keywords=the+0th+dimension It’s about godlike organisms fighting across the universe against living black holes. There are no spaceships. No aliens. The characters are all cosmic, and indeed, it is the most cosmic story ever told.
